  3. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DRIVER YOU ARE ABOUT TO INSTALL WAS DESIGNED
  4. TO FUNCTION WITH THE YMF724 AND YMF740, ALSO CALLED DS-XG, WHICH WAS
  5. SOLDERED DOWN ON THE MOTHERBOARD OF YOUR PC SYSTEM AND FOR THE 
  6. YAMAHA WAVEFORCE192 SOUND CARD ONLY.  
  7. IF THIS IS YOUR CASE, SKIP TO GENERAL INFORMATION.

  9. IF YOU ARE INSTALLING THIS DRIVER FOR AN ADD-ON CARD NOT MANUFACTURED
  10. BY YAMAHA, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU CALL THE MANUFACTURER OF
  11. YOUR SOUND CARD TO INSTALL THEIR DRIVER. THIS DRIVER WILL NOT FUNCTION
  12. ON ANY NON-YAMAHA SOUND CARD DUE THE FACT THAT EACH MANUFACTURER 
  13. HAVE A DIFFERENT SUB SYSTEM VENDOR ID PER MICROSOFT'S WHQL REQUIREMENTS.

  15. Gerenal Information:

  17. Prior to installing the driver for the DS-XG, you should have already created a folder in 
  18. your hard disk drive and downloaded the executable file in that new folder as instructed 
  19. by our web page. If not, we highly recommend that you follow all the steps for downloading.  
  20. Please note that Windows will be restarted so we highly recommend that you exit out of 
  21. any applications that you may have opened and save any files before going forward. 
  22. It is a good practice to back-up your files before any installation.

  24. Instruction for installing the Driver:

  26. For the Advance User:
  27.  
  28. 1) Go to the folder, in your hard disk drive, where you downloaded the executable file.
  29. 2) Double click on "Setup.exe"and follow all Pop Up window instructions.

  31. Detailed step-by-step instructions:
  32.  
  33. 1) Locate and click on the folder you downloaded the driver file to thorugh Windows 
  34.     Explorer.
  35. 2) Locate and double click on the folder "Disk1".
  36. 3) Locate and double click on "Setup.exe".
  37. 4) At the Welcom Window read the text entirely then click on the "NEXT" button.
  38. 5) At the Setup Complete Window, mark by clicking (usually a dot) in the space provided
  39.     next to "Yes, I want to restart my computer now", then click on the "Finish" button.
  40. 6) After Windows restarts, the driver will be automatically installed.

  42. To Verify Installation:
  43. 7) From the Task Bar click on "Start".
  44. 8) Move up to "Settings".
  45. 9) Slide over and click on "Control Panel".
  46. 10) At the Control Panel Window, locate and double click on the "Yamaha DS-XG Au..." 
  47.    icon.
  48. 11) On the YAMAHA DS-XG Configuration Window, read the version number. If the last
  49.    4 digits of the version number match the executable file you downloaded, then the 
  50.    mew driver was successfully installed.
