  8. PKZIP 2.70 for Windows 9x/NT 4.0 has many new and useful features.
  9.  
  10.   * Create Self-Extracting Patch Files (Professional Distribution 
  11.     Licensed version only)
  12.           
  13.           PKZIP for Windows allows you to create self-extracting 
  14.           patch files. Patch files can be an ideal solution for 
  15.           distributing software updates. Please refer to the User's
  16.           Manual or online help (PKZIPW.HLP) for further information
  17.           on creating patch files.

  19.   * Email MAPI (i.e. Send To) Support
  20.           
  21.           PKZIP for Windows allows you to Email archive files right 
  22.           from the main application window. 
  23.  
  24.   * Embed Authenticity Verification (AV) Information (Registered and 
  25.     Distribution Licensed versions only)
  26.  
  27.           You may embed an electronic signature with files stored in 
  28.           a .ZIP archive and subsequently authenticate those files 
  29.           upon extraction. PKWARE Authenticity Verification (AV) 
  30.           information allows you to detect whether a .ZIP file's 
  31.           integrity has been compromised. The putav.bat file will
  32.           configure PKZIP for Windows for Authenticity Verification.
  33.           Please refer to the User's Manual for further information
  34.           on configuring and using AV.

  36.   * Self-Extractors for Several New Platforms (Professional 
  37.     Distribution Licensed version only)

  39.           You may create self-extractors for several new platforms
  40.           (e.g. UNIX) with the PKSFXS.DAT file. This file is on the 
  41.           diskette labeled Additional Self-Extractors. Copy this file
  42.           from the diskette and place in the installation directory. 
  43.           The available self-extractors will appear in the Save As 
  44.           dialog in the Save as type drop down list. Please refer to 
  45.           the User's Manual for further information on configuring
  46.           and using the pksfxs.dat file.

  48.   * Enhanced 32-bit Windows Self-Extractor (Registered and 
  49.     Distribution Licensed versions only)

  51.           PKZIP for Windows includes the ability to create 32-bit 
  52.           self-extracting (Explorer enabled) Windows archives to run
  53.           on Windows 9x and Windows NT.

  55.   * Extended configuration options for Windows self-extractors 
  56.     created with the Registered version of PKZIP for Windows
  57.   
  58.           Self-extracting .ZIP files created with the Registered 
  59.           version of PKZIP for Windows now feature several 
  60.           configuration options (e.g. Customizable Title Bar) 
  61.           previously only available in the Professional Distribution 
  62.           Licensed version of PKZIP for Windows.

  76.   * Certain users reported that it took somewhat longer to open .ZIP 
  77.     files in PKZIP 2.60 for Windows than in previous versions.
  78.     Latest Version fixes logic that may have caused such behavior.

  80.   * Fixed problem related to selecting the Overwrite:Never option 
  81.     when creating/running Windows self-extractors.

  83.   * File attributes are now restored with the files upon extraction 
  84.     from Windows self-extractors.

  87.     file systems.

  89.   * Fixed problem with certain files (Compression Method=Normal)
  90.     reporting warning (e.g. '...bad compression block type') or error
  91.     messages on extraction.

  93.   * Fixed problem on certain NT systems where PKZIP didn't recognize
  94.     the first diskette from a spanned set even if there was seemingly
  95.     no problems with the diskette itself or the data written on that

  99.     .ZIP and .TAR files to the specified temporary extraction
