  5.      The ARJ32 archiver, the REARJ32 program, and the associated
  6.      documentation are copyright (c) 1990-99 ARJ Software, Inc., all
  7.      rights reserved.  The ARJ32 software may not be circulated in any
  8.      incomplete or modified form, nor sold for profit, without written
  9.      permission of ARJ Software, Inc.
  10.  
  11.      If you distribute this software to others, you are REQUIRED to
  12.      distribute the ENTIRE package in its ARJ-SECURITY envelope.  Because 
  13.      of the requirements of some file distributors, you MAY wrap this 
  14.      ARJ-SECURED package inside another archive such as within a ZIP 
  15.      archive.  However, you may NOT distribute the individual files 
  16.      RE-ARCHIVED.  This requirement is to ensure the integrity of the
  17.      software to the end user.  RE-ARCHIVAL could allow corrupted files
  18.      or viruses to be distributed "in our name".

  20.      You may NOT distribute the registered versions of ARJ32.EXE or 
  21.      REARJ32.EXE except as noted in your ARJ license agreement.

  24.      As a brief description of ARJ32, we suggest the following:

  26.      "ARJ32 is a file archiver that compresses files into a disk space
  27.      saving archive.  It is fast, reliable, and has a rich set of features
  28.      which include Windows NT/95/98 long filename support, file version
  29.      management, data damage protection, ANSI/OEM codepage support, ANSI 
  30.      escape sequence display handler, configurable command options, 
  31.      multiple volume archives (archives that span diskettes) and much 
  32.      more."

  35.      The use and/or sale of ARJ32 (ARJ32 package) is subject to
  36.      the following terms:
  37.  
  38.      
  39.      ARJ / ARJ32 PRODUCTS:
  40.  
  41.      ARJ and ARJ32 are two different products from ARJ Software, Inc. 
  42.      For licensed use, a separate license is required for each product. 
  43.      ARJ is intended for DOS and Windows 95/98.  ARJ32 is intended for 
  44.      Windows 95/98/NT.
  45.  
  46.  
  47.      PERSONAL USE:
  48.  
  49.      For personal use (at home and non-commercial), ARJ32, may be freely
  50.      used and shared with others.  
  51.      
  52.      There is no REQUIRED registration fee for non-commercial, 
  53.      non-business, non-institutional, non-government personal use.  
  54.      
  55.      Instead, we ask that you share the ARJ32 software with a friend.
  56.  
  57.      For personal use, the program REARJ32 may be freely used only by 
  58.      ARJ32 users.  An ARJ32 user is one who uses ARJ32 on a regular basis.  
  59.      Others who wish to use REARJ32 must purchase a registration for the 
  60.      ARJ32 package.
  61.  
  62.      The user who registers receives several benefits:
  63.  
  64.      * Technical support by telephone, fax or mail.  You can get help
  65.        with any questions or problems you encounter in using ARJ32.
  66.  
  67.      * A REGISTRATION KEY that provides:
  68.      
  69.        The REGISTERED full version of ARJ32.
  70.  
  71.        The REGISTERED full version of REARJ32.
  72.  
  73.      * Legal use of the software in a business, commercial, institutional,
  74.        and government environment.
  75.      
  76.      * The satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting the development
  77.        of good, affordable software.
  78.  
  79.  
  80.      BULLETIN BOARD SYSTEM (BBS), WEB SITE, AND FTP SITE USE:
  81.  
  82.      ARJ32 and REARJ32 may be freely used on commercial and non-commercial
  83.      electronic file distribution sites (computer bulletin board systems,
  84.      WEB sites, FTP sites and so on) for the purpose of distributing *.ARJ
  85.      archive files (not including ARJ32 self-extracting archives).  The 
  86.      ARJ32 shareware distribution archive (ARJ32###.EXE) may be freely 
  87.      distributed by these sites.

  89.      ARJ32 and REARJ32 may be freely used on non-commercial electronic 
  90.      file distribution sites where ARJ32 is one of the supported primary 
  91.      archive formats.  The use of ARJ32 and/or REARJ32 on a BBS where 
  92.      ARJ32 is not one of the supported primary archive formats requires a 
  93.      registration or site license.

  95.      Support of ARJ32 involves allowing *.ARJ archives as uploads AND 
  96.      making *.ARJ archives available as downloads.
  97.  
  98.  
  99.      INSTITUTIONAL/COMMERCIAL INTERNAL USE LICENSE/REGISTRATION:
  100.  
  101.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business wishing 
  102.      to use the ARJ32 software in the course of its internal business must
  103.      purchase an ARJ32 registration or SITE LICENSE. Any individual 
  104.      wishing to use the ARJ32 software within a corporation, institution, 
  105.      government agency or business must purchase an ARJ32 registration or 
  106.      SITE LICENSE. The SITE LICENSE is provided for those who want to use 
  107.      ARJ32 on multiple computers.  A sample INTERNAL USE LICENSE for the 
  108.      internal use of the ARJ32 software is included at the end of this 
  109.      document. Please see the ORDERFRM.TXT or write for terms.
  110.  
  111.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business may use
  112.      the unregistered shareware version of ARJ32 only for evaluation 
  113.      purposes and only for a thirty day period.  After the thirty day 
  114.      period, you must either register ARJ32 or discontinue its use.  While 
  115.      you are in the process of registering ARJ32, you may continue to use 
  116.      the unregistered ARJ32 program until you receive the registered 
  117.      version.
  118.  
  119.      This INTERNAL use license does NOT license the inclusion of the ARJ32
  120.      software with a hardware/software package that is distributed
  121.      EXTERNALLY.
  122.  
  123.      The unlimited SINGLE LOCATION SITE LICENSE permits ARJ32 internal use
  124.      for an unlimited number of computers/users at one street address. 
  125.      This definition of a SINGLE LOCATION SITE is subject to change.  The
  126.      unlimited MULTIPLE LOCATION SITE LICENSE permits ARJ32 internal use 
  127.      for an unlimited number of computers/users at all locations.
  128.  
  129.      Each computer that uses ARJ32 or ARJSFX32 in any way requires 
  130.      licensing.  In addition, computers that are being backed up with 
  131.      ARJ32 via a file server require licensing.  For example, if computer 
  132.      Z's data is copied to a file server and that file server uses ARJ32 
  133.      to archive Z's data, then computer Z needs to be licensed for ARJ32.

  135.      Examples of institutional or commercial use of ARJ32:
  136.  
  137.      1)  Using ARJ32 to backup your business programs and/or data.
  138.      2)  Using ARJ32 to create archives for storing or transporting 
  139.          business data.
  140.      3)  Using ARJ32 on a company supplied home computer for company
  141.          business.
  142.      4)  Using ARJ32 to backup your research programs and/or data.
  143.      5)  Using ARJ32 on your home business computer for business purposes.
  144.  
  145.      Examples of EXTERNAL commercial use of ARJ:
  146.  
  147.      1)  Using ARJ32 as a included backup program for an accounting 
  148.          package that you sell to customers.
  149.      2)  Using ARJ32 as a compression and decompression program in a home 
  150.          banking package that you give to your bank customers.
  151.      3)  Using ARJ32 as a backup program for clients that you support as a
  152.          consultant.
  153.  
  154.      The above examples should NOT be considered the ONLY types of
  155.      institutional or commercial use of ARJ32.

  157.  
  158.      DISTRIBUTION LICENSE:
  159.  
  160.      Standard ARJ32 format archives (*.ARJ) may be distributed without a
  161.      license.  The UNARJ.EXE program distributed separately may be freely
  162.      used and distributed without a license.
  163.  
  164.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business wishing 
  165.      to include ARJSFX32 (self-extracting ARJ32 archives) as an integral 
  166.      part of a software and/or hardware package to be distributed 
  167.      externally must purchase a DISTRIBUTION LICENSE. The use of ARJ32 on 
  168.      one computer to build the software and/or hardware package is 
  169.      included in the DISTRIBUTION LICENSE.

  171.      The above requirement does NOT apply to those who did NOT initiate
  172.      the inclusion of the ARJ32 software with the software and/or hardware
  173.      package.
  174.  
  175.      Please write for terms providing your distribution details:
  176.  
  177.      1)  Expected distribution numbers in total.
  178.      2)  The approximate value/price of the package.
  179.      3)  A brief description of the software/hardware.
  180.      4)  A description of how ARJ32 will be used in the distribution.
  181.          In other words, is the self-extractor being used or is ARJ32's
  182.          multiple volume (-v) feature required.

  184.      If you wish to use the archiver ARJ32 or the conversion program 
  185.      REARJ32 in your application software, the pricing is similar to the 
  186.      INTERNAL LICENSE price schedule.  Please write for terms.

  189.      INSTITUTIONAL/COMMERCIAL EXTERNAL USE:

  191.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business wishing to
  192.      use the ARJ32 software in the course of its EXTERNAL business must
  193.      purchase an ARJ32 EXTERNAL use LICENSE.  Please write for terms.

  195.      Any corporation, institution, government agency or business may use

  215.      SHAREWARE DISTRIBUTION USE BY INDIVIDUALS:

  217.      The use of ARJ32 to create an ARJ32 format archive (*.ARJ) for the 
  218.      purpose of distributing shareware or freeware to computer bulletin 
  219.      board systems IS NOT considered commercial use.  However, any other 
  220.      use of ARJ32 in connection with a shareware product is commercial 
  221.      use.  For example, using ARJ32 to backup shareware source code is 
  222.      commercial use.

  224.      The inclusion of the ARJSFX32 module in software to create 
  225.      self-extracting ARJ32 archives that are to be distributed requires a 
  226.      distribution license.

  228.  
  229.      RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATIONAL USE:
  230.  
  231.      To obtain the donation of a SITE LICENSE and/or DISTRIBUTION LICENSE,
  232.      please write providing details of your organization's religious and
  233.      charitable activities and the intended use for ARJ32.  A free license
  234.      will be provided to qualifying organizations.  Qualifications will be
  235.      determined on a purely subjective basis.  Non-qualifying 
  236.      organizations can always obtain licenses by purchase.
  237.  
  238.      Non-religious non-profit organizations promoting causes that do not
  239.      conflict with our personal faith and ethics may also qualify for a
  240.      free license.

  242.  
  243.      COMMERCIAL SALE:
  244.  
  245.      Any software dealer or library may distribute the entire ARJ32 
  246.      package in an unmodified form for a fee as long as the price charged 
  247.      for the disk containing ARJ32 does not exceed US $10.00.  You may 
  248.      not distribute the registered version of ARJ32 or REARJ32.
  249.  
  250.      Any software dealer or library may distribute the entire ARJ32 
  251.      package in an unmodified form when included in a CD-ROM shareware 
  252.      collection. Moreover, permission is freely given for the use of the 
  253.      ARJ32 software to view and/or install CD-ROM shareware collections 
  254.      where the entire ARJ32 package is included.  No special license is 
  255.      required nor will a special license be granted.
  256.  
  257.      With these exceptions, the sale of ARJ32 or its parts for profit,
  258.      either alone or together with other software or hardware, requires a
  259.      licensing agreement possibly providing for royalty payments.  Please
  260.      write for terms.

  263.      UPGRADE POLICY FOR ARJ32:
  264.  
  265.      Registered/licensed users of ARJ32 may upgrade ARJ32 to the next DOT
  266.      release (3.0 to 3.1, etc.) by downloading the new versions from the
  267.      ARJ website.  The registration key for the current release of ARJ32 
  268.      will be valid for the next DOT release of ARJ32.
  269.      
  270.      Customers who cannot download from the Internet can obtain the 
  271.      upgrade directly from us for a small diskette fee.  See the
  272.      ORDERFRM.TXT for details.  
  273.      
  274.      UNLIMITED SITE LICENSE holders will get unlimited free ARJ32 
  275.      upgrades.
  276.  
  277.      This upgrade policy applies ONLY to the ARJ32 archiver.

  279.  
  280.      UNARJ SOURCE CODE:
  281.  
  282.      Available in a separately distributed archive is the program 
  283.      UNARJ.EXE and its C source code.  UNARJ is a simple ARJ archive 
  284.      extraction program.
  285.  
  286.      You may freely use, copy, and distribute UNARJ.EXE, provided that no
  287.      fee is charged for such use, copying or distribution.
  288.  
  289.      This source code is intended to promote the building of utilities to
  290.      support the use of ARJ32 and ARJ32 archives.

  292.  
  293.      ARJ-SECURITY ENVELOPE USE:
  294.  
  295.      This feature is intended for but not limited to software developers
  296.      who wish to distribute archived software with some assurance that the
  297.      archived software in a validated ARJ-SECURED archive will be secure.
  298.      We reserve the right to limit the distribution of ARJ-SECURITY serial
  299.      codes.
  300.  
  301.      This feature may ONLY be used by those who have purchased an
  302.      ARJ-SECURITY serial number.

  359.      allows the internal use and copying of the software by LICENSEE on as
  360.      many computers as contracted for.  You may make as many copies of this
  361.      software as you need for backup purposes.  Distribution, repackaging,
  362.      or reselling of the software including ARJSFX32 archives to third 
  363.      parties is not allowed under this agreement.
