  1. HyperCam 1.20.04 Readme.txt file

  3. HyperCam captures the action from your Windows 95 or NT screen and saves 
  4. it to AVI (Audio-Video Interleaved) movie file.  Your machine may run in 
  5. any color mode.  Sound from your system microphone is also recorded.  
  6.  
  7. For best performance please set your machine in 8 bit color mode (256 
  8. colors).  We found out that in this configuration HyperCam can capture up 
  9. to 10 frames per second of 640x480 pictures on Pentium 133 machine.  You 
  10. may capture more if your capture area is smaller, or you have a faster 
  11. machine.  In 16 bit color mode it can do about 5 fps of 320x240 frames on 
  12. the same machine.  For 4 bit graphics MS Video does not provide a suitable 
  13. compressor, so the frames are written uncompressed.  This is also slow and 
  14. produces large AVI files.

  16. Installation:
  17. -------------
  18. To install HyperCam, please run SETUP.EXE program form the ZIP file that
  19. you downloaded, or the floppy disk that you have received.
  20.  
  21. Program Status:
  22. ---------------
  23. HyperCam is a shareware product with the single user license price of
  24. US $30. While unregistered, it will place a small "Unregistered HyperCam"
  25. sign in the corner of the AVI files that you capture. To register your
  26. copy of HyperCam, please start the program, click on the "License" tab,
  27. then click on "Purchase License..." button. After we receive your payment,
  28. we will send you a license (key) by email or paper mail, which you may
  29. enter into the software to remove the "Unregistered" mark.

  31. Distribution:
  32. -------------
  33. Distribution is permitted provided you follow these instructions: You are 
  34. free to make copies of the distribution archive (HYPERCAM.ZIP) and pass it 
  35. along to others for their evaluation provided that no modifications or 
  36. additions are made to the software, its documentation, or any associated 
  37. files, and it is not bundled in a distribution of any other software.

  39. Usage:
  40. ------
  41. Select the area you want to capture, then select Start Rec.  button or 
  42. press a hot key.  You may press the same hot key to finish.  There is also 
  43. a "Pause/Resume" hot key and button.  You may pan (move the recorded area) 
  44. by holding e.g.  Shift key and moving the mouse.  Please click on each tab 
  45. in the HyperCam dialog and try to figure out what to do, or read the 
  46. detailed help file.

  89. would produce sometimes invalid AVI files (when, upon minimizing
  90. HyperCam window for recording, another window with a different
  91. palette would come to front and realize its palette). The other
  92. problem: selecting AVI file name with Browse button would not
  93. always work correctly.

  96. One more problem found and fixed - starting recording in
  97. "paused" mode (F3 hot key) would cause problems. Fixed.

  100. Fixed a problem in licenses. Fixed also a bug where HyperCam
  101. would crash after recording more than 2 minuts of video on 
  102. some Windows 95 systems. Fixed problem with saving video
  103. compression quality setting.

  113. I'm sorry, rel. 1.14 was not right. It recorded the sound with
  114. wrong format information, and you could not switch between
  115. high and low quality sound at all. It's all fixed now, honest!
  116. Added a separate Sound tab, with even more sound parameters
  117. to select from. Also (hopefully) fixed a rare problem when
  118. HyperCam would produce invalid AVI files.

  120. 1997.04.01 Version 1.14 Released
  121. Added a selection to set high quality sound when recording.
  122. It's a check-box on AVI File tab. If checked on, HyperCam
  123. records 16 bit sound samples at a rate of 22050 per second.
  124. If checked off, 8 bit samples are recorded at 11025 samples
  125. per second.

  128. Added a separate setting for playback frame rate on AVI File 
  129. tab, which may be now set different from recording rate. However,
  130. if the playback is different from recording rate, you can not
  131. record sound.

  136. Fixed: custom shapes of Windows 95 cursors were not captured
  137. correctly - they were always dispalyed as standard cursors.
  138. Controls inside HyperCam dialog are now disabled while recording
  139. a movie.
  140. You can now use Tab key to move the focus between all controls
  141. of HyperCam dialog.
  142. Fixed GDI resource leak on Windows 95 (could prevent you from
  143. recording very long clips, or many short clips without exiting
  144. HyperCam).
