  11. you email, or just want more control than you currently have.  Well stop, EBlocker lets you
  12. control your mailbox.  You decide who has the priveledge of ending you mail.  Best of all,
  13. EBlocker has been designed to be extremely user friendly.  It is very powerful and yet easy
  14. to use.  Give it a try and see if were right.  Let us know with your comments.

  18.    EBlocker is for MAPI compliant messaging services(your email program you use to send
  19. and receive email).  As of now the only email software(we know of) that qualifies
  20. is Windows Messaging by Microsoft.  Fortunately, this comes with Windows 95 and Windows NT.
  21. You can install this by going to the add/remove icon in the control panel.  
  22. EBlocker doesn't care what email package you use as long as it supports Extended MAPI 1.0.
  23. Contact your vendor to see if your email package supports MAPI 1.0 if your not sure.  If
  24. they don't support MAPI ask them why they don't support the only mail standard around.

  26.   *Eudora can NOT be used with EBlocker as they do not support Extended MAPI.  We
  27.    have no control over this.  We wish they would have supported MAPI as it is the
  28.    standard email architecture and not hard to implement.
  29.   **America Online and other Commercial Services do not use MAPI either.  If you go 
  30.     through an Internet Service Provider like Netcom, Sprynet, or any other provider
  31.     you can use Microsoft Windows Messaging and you might already be using it.  If
  32.     you have any questions you can email us.

  34.     By using MAPI we don't have to write a whole email client.  This means we can keep
  35.     the cost low.  We just hope other email packages add support MAPI.  MAPI is
  36.     truly powerful.

  39.                  What is MAPI?
  40.  
  41.       It is a standard that will allow programs to commincate without knowing anything
  42.     about the other program.  This allows any program to send email.  You can send
  43.     a letter from Microsoft Word with just the click of a button.  MAPI allows the
  44.     greatest access to email.  We used MAPI because of this power and now we can help
  45.     you block those pesky rascals who keep filling up your email inbox.  We are also
  46.     expanding our services to keep a list for our registered users of sites they can
  47.     ban before they get a hundred emails.  With MAPI, we can give you the widest support
  48.     and the most flexibility of any email program existing.
  49.       Another benefit we added is to scan and censor swear words.  You control the words to
  50.     ban, although we start you off we a list we have made.  We have encrypted this list
  51.     so it can't even be read by anyone in your family or business.  We find these words 
  52.     offensive and thus we regard this as a protection.

  55. ** Starting off we have no sites banned.  As our users complain we will keep a list
  56. of sites that are problems.  We will have no bias and a site will have to something
  57. bad to get on the list.  If a site is bothering you please tell us so we may add them
  58. to this list.

  67.  Scan for bad words, cuss words, slang words, any words you want to scan for.  When
  68.  one of these words is found it is censored.  Now you can read clean email all day.

  70.  Keep a log file on all messages received.

  72.  Enter email addresses you don't want to receive email from.  EBlocker will keep
  73.  these messages from ever reaching your email folders.

  75.  Even more powerful, the ability to block any site, such as microsoft.com, aol.com,
  76.  compuserve.com.  Any email from these sites, regardless of who sent it, will be blocked

  90.                    Why EBlocker

  92.   Email filters require to much work to manage and add changes to.  EBlocker was
  93. designed to do away with all the harsh details and provide an easy to use
  94. interface.  You don't have to worry about all the details.  It is very
  95. easy to use, just press a button and add a new email address to block.  Block a
  96. site address with the same ease.  EBlocker will even censor out all the harsh swear words
  97. you find offensive so you don't have to read them.

  101. Note EBlocker comes with a list of censored words.  This list is not readable to
  102. protect people from reading this list.  You can freely add words to this list but there
  103. is no way to take a word out of the list.  The file words.bin contains all the words
  104. EBlocker will censor in your email messages. 
  105.   ** Note  do not edit any files directly.  They are not text files and you may corrupt
  106. them if you try to edit them directly.  For example, with a text editor.  Use EBlocker
  107. only to add words or email addresses to block.

  113.                                      Tips on Blocking

  116.   After you enter an email name or a site to block, double click it in the listbox.
  117. A window will pop up with settings for you to configure.  Choose the folder for incoming
  118. email to go in, and choose a sound to play when email arrives from this source.

  121.   Keep a backup of your files.  You do not want to lose your banned list
  122. or word list.  In case they get corrupted or destroyed you will have
  123. them backed up!  So please, backup *all* your files.

  126.   People can put false email addresses on their item.  Some junk emailers do this so
  127. you won't be able to write them back angry comments.  All they want is to get
  128. you to read their advertisement so they don't need a reply from in these situations.
  129.   This is why we added one extra feature, the ability to block a site!
  130. It is much more difficult to falsify a header file and it is the header file that
  131. contains the site that sent the message.

  135.                                  How to read a header file
  136.   On Windows Messaging just open the inbox, outbox or any folder you want.  Highlight
  137. the message you want to see the Internet header of and click the right mouse button.
  138. This brings up a pop up menu. Click the properties item and this brings up a dialog.
  139. This dialog should have a tab at the top labeled Internet.  Click on the tab
  140. marked Internet and this will show you the Internet header.  An example Internet header 
  141. will look like this:
  142.   There is another to view the header.  Turn on the log file option in EBlocker.
  143. This will cause all inbound messages to be logged, including the header.
  144. Just view this log with any text editor and find the message you want to see the
  145. header of.

  150.  We will also keep a list of sites that readily allow junk emailers to use them for
  151. their bulk emailings.  You can block all these sites if you choose to.  We
  152. give these companies all the chances to get off the list and we make it very
  153. hard to get on the list in the first place.
