  5. Intellihance like a pro! One click and Extensis Intellihance

  72. Installing and registering Intellihance:
  73. The following file is installed into your Adobe Photoshop or 
  74. PhotoDeluxe Plug-ins folder:
  75.        Intellihance.8bf  on Windows
  76.        Intellihance 3.0  on Macintosh
  77.  
  78. An Intellihance folder is installed on your startup disk.  This folder 
  79. contains sample images.
  80.  
  81. During the launch of Intellihance, you will be requested to serialize 
  82. and register the software. Please enter the serial number located on 
  83. the back of the manual. If you do not have a serial number, you can 
  84. choose to run Intellihance in demo mode.  The Demo mode allows full 
  85. functionality for 5 uses each application session, up to 30 uses total.

  87. Please register using one of the built-in electronic registration 
  88. methods. If you do not have a modem, fax/modem, or printer, you may 
  89. fill out the registration card in the back of the manual.
  90.  
  91. Microtek Scanners on Macintosh computers:
  92. Microtek scanners may interfere with the built-in electronic 
  93. registration process. If you are using a Microtek scanner, please turn 
  94. it off before attempting to register Intellihance. You may turn the 
  95. scanner back on once the registration process is complete. 
  96.  
  97. General Notes on Intellihance use:
  98. 1) As you use Intellihance, please note that some effects (sharpening, 
  99. brightness, saturation) work in combination when they are turned on 
  100. together.  If you are not seeing the desired results with Intellihance,
  101. start by turning off all but one or two settings.  Add each setting 
  102. one at a time and adjust the level of the settings as you go.

  104. 2) In order to see an accurate representation of descreening results 
  105. you will need to preview your image at 100%.  Any other zoom setting 
  106. will display too much or too little blurring.
  107.  
  108. 3) In order for Auto Descreen to work effectively, Intellihance needs 
  109. a large enough sample of the image in order to do its calculations.  
  110. If you are running Intellihance on small selections or images, you may 
  111. note that Auto Descreening does not work.  Manual descreening settings 
  112. can still be used on smaller selections.
  113.  
  114. 4) If you want to speed up overall processing and preview performance 
  115. on CMYK images, turn off the automatic cast removal options in the 
  116. Preference area.
  117.  
  118. 5) When using Intellihance in PhotoDeluxe, you will need to turn on 
  119. Long Menus in order to get access to Intellihance.  
  120. For Windows:  Go to the File Menu and choose Preferences.  From the 
  121. Preferences area choose Long Menus.
  122. For Macintosh: Go to the File menu and choose Long Menus.
  123.  
  124. 6) In order to speed up panning and zooming, Intellihance will switch 
  125. to the original image preview when panning and zooming are used.
  126.  
  127. Windows:
  128. 1) The Intellihance dialog will not fit on a 640 x 480 screen size.  
  129. The minimum screen size is 600 x 800 with small fonts.  If you are 
  130. using Large Fonts, you may need to go to a higher resolution setting.
  131.  
  132. 2) When running Intellihance in low memory conditions, you may note 
  133. that some Intellihance settings do not get applied.  If this occurs, 
  134. you can:
  135.   a) Free up memory and try the operation again.
  136.   b) Turn Auto Descreening off and try the operation again.
  137.   c) Apply your current settings via the Quick Enhance dialog.
  138.  
  139. 3) Running Intellihance on multitone images in 256 colors can
  140. cause erratic results.  It is recommended that Intellihance be run
  141. with thousands of colors.
