Quattro Pro lets you customize the appearance of charts by editing chart items.

Selecting chart items
To edit chart items, you must first select them. You can select individual or multiple chart items.
To select chart items
To select Do the following
A chart item Click a chart, and click an item.
Multiple chart items Click a chart. Hold down Ctrl, and click the items you want.
Changing chart types
You can change the chart type. Quattro Pro provides you with a collection of predesigned chart templates and color schemes that let you change the chart type, or format charts quickly, rather than editing individual features.
You can also specify the default chart that displays every time you create a chart automatically. For more information about creating charts, see "Creating charts."
To change the chart type
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Gallery.
3 Click the Type tab.
4 Choose a chart category from the Category list.
5 In the Type area, click a chart type.
You can also
Apply a color scheme to a chart Choose a color scheme from the Color scheme list box.
Add depth to a chart Enable the Add depth check box.
Use a chart type recommended by the Advisor Click the Advisor tab. Choose a chart type from the list.
Select a custom chart Click the Custom tab. Choose a chart type from the list.
To specify the default chart
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Gallery, and click the Type tab.
3 Click a chart category from the Category list.
4 In the Type section, click a chart type.
5 Enable the Use as default for all new charts check box.
Changing legend labels and position
You can add legend and x-axis labels to a chart series to make a chart easier to understand.
You can also specify the position of the chart legend. There are two legend types-horizontal and vertical-that can be placed inside the chart frame.
To add legend and x-axis labels to a series
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Source data.
3 Choose a series from the list.
4 Type a label in the Legend label box.
Tips
You can specify a range of legend labels by clicking the Range picker in the Legend labels box.
You can specify a range of x-axis labels by clicking the Range picker in the X-axis labels box.
To change the position of a legend
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Format tab.
4 Enable the Display legend check box.
5 In the Position area, enable one of the position options.
If you want the legend placed in the chart, enable the Place legend inside chart check box.
6 In the Legend type area, click one of the following legend types:
Horizontal
Vertical
Note
You can specify a horizontal or vertical legend only if the Place legend inside chart check box is enabled.
Changing legend boxes and borders
You can change the box and border of a chart legend. You can also change the border properties, such as the line width, style, and color.
You can add a shadow to a legend box to create the illusion of depth and specify the direction and color of the shadow.
To change a legend box
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Box style tab.
4 Open the Box picker, and click a box style.
To change a legend border
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Box style tab.
4 Open the Border picker, and click a border style.

Change the border width In the Line format area, open the Width picker, and click a border width.
Change the border style In the Line format area, open the Line style picker, and click a border style.
Change the border color In the Line format area, open the Color picker, and click a color.
To add a shadow to a legend box
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Box style tab.
4 Enable the Shadow check box.
You can also
Specify the direction of the shadow Type values in the X offset box and the Y offset box.
Change the color of the shadow Open the Shadow color picker, and click a color.
Applying fills to legend boxes
You can apply a pattern or gradient fill to legend boxes. A pattern fill consists of two colors arranged to form a design. A gradient fill creates a smooth transition between two colors by gradually changing their transparency as the fill progresses from one color to another.
You can also apply a texture or picture fill to legend boxes. Quattro Pro provides a selection of texture and picture fills that you can use.
You can modify the gradient fill and picture fill settings. For example, you can choose from three different gradient types, linear, circular, or rectangular, where each gradient type creates a unique transition between the two colors.
To apply a pattern fill to a legend box
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Fill tab.
4 Click Pattern.
5 In the Colors area, open the Foreground color picker, and click a color.
6 Open the Background color picker, and click a color.
If you want to reverse the foreground and background colors, click Reverse colors.
7 Click a pattern on the pattern palette.

You can apply a pattern fill only to a legend box that has a border.
To apply a gradient fill to a legend box
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Fill tab.
4 Click Gradient.
5 In the Colors area, open the Foreground color picker, and click a color.
6 Open the Background color picker, and click a color.
If you want to reverse the foreground and background colors, click Reverse colors.
7 Click a gradient style on the gradient palette.

To apply a picture fill to a legend box
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.

To modify the gradient fill properties of a legend box
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Fill tab.
4 Click Gradient.
5 Click Gradient settings.
6 In the Gradient settings dialog box, change the options you want.
To edit the picture fill properties of a legend box
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Legend properties.
3 Click the Fill tab.
4 Click Picture.
5 Click Picture settings.
6 In the Picture settings dialog box, change any options.
Changing the fill and border of chart frames

You can also change the border of the chart frame and specify the border's width and color.
To apply a pattern fill to a chart frame
1 Click a 2D chart, and click the chart frame.
2 Right-click the chart frame, and click Frame properties.
3 Click the Fill tab.
4 Click Pattern.
5 In the Colors area, open the Foreground color picker, and click a color on the color palette.
6 Open the Background color picker, and click a color on the color palette.
If you want to reverse the foreground and background colors, click Reverse colors.
7 Click a pattern on the pattern palette.
To apply a gradient fill to a chart frame
1 Click a 2-D chart, and click the chart frame.
2 Right-click the chart frame, and click Frame properties.
3 Click the Fill tab.

To change the border of the chart frame
1 Click a chart, and click the chart frame.

Changing the background fill

To modify the gradient fill properties of a chart background
1 Click a chart, and click the chart background.

To modify the picture fill properties of a chart background
1 Click a chart, and click the chart background.
2 Click Chart Background properties.

4 Click Picture.

Applying advanced rendering to charts
You can apply advanced rendering to charts to smooth out the edges of chart items and to give a chart a polished and professional appearance.
The example below shows how a 3-D chart appears after you apply advanced rendering.
When you no longer need advanced rendering, you can remove it.
To apply advanced rendering to a chart
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Render chart.
Tip
You can also apply advanced rendering to a chart by clicking Chart Gallery and enabling the Advanced rendering check box.
To remove advanced rendering from a chart
1 Click a chart.
2 Click Chart Render chart.
Tip
You can also remove advanced rendering from chart by clicking Chart Gallery and disabling the Advanced rendering check box.
Changing chart lighting
You can change the appearance of an advanced rendered chart by specifying the way light shines on it. Adding light to a chart simulates the effect of light shining on an object and it changes not only the chart color, but also its illumination.
Quattro Pro provides a collection of preset light combinations that you can apply; however, you can also create your own combination by choosing up to three different light colors. You can adjust the angle at which light shines on a chart, and adjust light properties such as glow and shininess.
To apply a preset light combination
1 Click a rendered chart.
2 Click Chart Lighting options.
3 Choose one of the light combinations from the list.
4 Click Apply.
To choose a light color
1 Click a rendered chart.
2 Click Chart Lighting options.
3 Click Advanced options>>.
4 Click one of the following tabs:

6 Open the Light color picker, and click a color.

You can use only one light color, or you can use all three.
To adjust the light angle
1 Click a rendered chart.

Moving, resizing, and deleting charts
You can move a floating chart to another area of the spreadsheet, and you can resize the chart. You can also delete a chart from a spreadsheet.
To move a chart
1 Click a chart window border.
2 Drag the chart to a new location on the spreadsheet.
To resize a chart
1 Click a chart window border.
2 Drag one of the selection handles.
To delete a chart
1 Click a chart window border.
2 Press Delete.
Saving and retrieving chart templates
After you create a chart that has all the required attributes you can save the attributes as a chart template. Saving a chart template lets you apply a particular appearance without having to recreate it.
To save a chart template
1 Click a chart that has the attributes you want to save.
2 Click Chart Save template.
3 Browse to \Corel\WordPerfect Office 11\Chart support files\Templates.
4 Type the filename in the Filename box.
5 Choose Chart template (.3tf) from the Save as type list box.
To retrieve a chart template
1 Click a chart to which you want to apply a template.
2 Click Chart Retrieve template.
3 Click the Custom tab.
4 From the Category list, choose the folder in which you saved the template.
