WordPerfect lets you create and edit envelopes and labels.

Creating envelopes
You can create an envelope using the return and mailing addresses you type, or you can choose return and mailing addresses from a CorelCENTRAL Address Book or a Microsoft Outlook address book. If you want to insert an address from an Outlook address book, you must choose Outlook as the default address book. For more information about using Microsoft Outlook, see "Using Microsoft Outlook address book in WordPerfect."
You can also create a custom address format.
To create an envelope
1 Click Format Envelope.
2 Click in the From box, and type the return address.
3 Click in the To box, and type the mailing address.
Note
Envelopes are added to the end of a document as a page.
To insert an address from an address book
1 Click Format Envelope.
2 Click the Address Book button in one of the following areas:
Return address
Mailing address
3 In the address book, click an address entry to add it to the envelope.
4 In the Format address dialog box, choose a format from the Format list box.
Note
The most recently used return address becomes the default return address for future documents.
Tip
You can also select an address for an existing envelope by clicking the Return address or Mailing address button on the property bar.
To create a custom address format
1 Click Format Envelope.
2 Click the Address Book button in one of the following areas:
Return address
Mailing address
3 In the address book, click an address entry.
4 In the Format address dialog box, click Custom.
5 In the Format (arrange fields) list box, position the cursor where you want to insert an address field.
6 Click a field from the Fields list box.
7 Click Insert.
Repeat steps 6-8 for each field you want to insert.
8 Click OK.
9 In the Custom format name dialog box, type a name for the format.
Editing envelopes
You can change the position of the return and mailing addresses on an envelope. You can change the size of an envelope. If you don't want to choose from preset sizes provided with WordPerfect you can create a size definition. You can insert a POSTNET bar code on an envelope, using an 11-digit delivery point bar code, a 9-digit ZIP code, or a 5-digit ZIP code.
To change the position of addresses on an envelope
1 Click Format Envelope.
2 Click Address positions.
3 In the Return address position area, type values in the following boxes:
From left
From top
4 In the Mailing address position area, type values in the following boxes:
From left
From top
To change the size of an envelope
1 Click Format Envelope.
2 Choose a size from the Default envelope list box.
Tip
You can also change the size of an envelope by clicking the Envelope size button on the property bar, and choosing a new envelope size.
To create a size definition for an envelope
1 Click Format Envelope.
2 Click Create new definition.
3 In the Name box, type a name for the page definition.
4 Choose an envelope size from the Size list box.
Tip
You can also create a size definition by clicking the Envelope size button on the property bar and clicking Page setup.
You can also define the envelope size by typing values in the Width and Height boxes.
To insert a POSTNET bar code on an envelope
1 Click Insert Other Bar code.
2 Type a bar code or ZIP code in the Bar code digits box.
3 In the Position area, enable one of the following options:
At cursor position-insets the bar code at the cursor
Position bar code above address-inserts the bar code above the mailing address
Position bar code below address-inserts the bar code below the mailing address
Using labels files
You can select a labels file. You can create a labels file of your own or edit the name and description of an existing labels file. You can also delete a labels file.
To select a labels file
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Click Change.
3 Choose a labels file from the Filename list box.
4 Click Select.
To create a labels file
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Click Change.
3 Click Create.
4 Type a filename in the Filename box.
5 Type a description in the Description box.
Note
Each labels file contains label definitions. You cannot copy definitions to another labels file; you must re-create a definition to add it to another file. For more information about creating label definitions see "To create a label definition."
Labels files are saved with a .lab filename extension.
To edit a labels file name and description
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Click Change.
3 In the Label file dialog box, click Edit.
4 Type a new filename in the Filename box.
5 Type a new description in the Description box.
To delete a labels file
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Click Change.
3 In the Label file dialog box, click the file you want to delete.
4 Click Delete.
Creating labels
You can create mailing labels by inserting addresses from a CorelCENTRAL Address Book or a Microsoft Outlook address book. If you want to insert an address from an Outlook address book, you must choose Outlook as the default address book. For more information about using Microsoft Outlook, see "Using Microsoft Outlook address book in WordPerfect."
You can insert a POSTNET bar code on a label. For example you can use an 11-digit delivery point bar code, a 5-digit ZIP code, or a 9-digit ZIP code.
To insert an address for a label
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Choose a label definition, from the Labels list box.
3 Click Select.
4 On the label, click where you want to insert an address.
5 Click Tools Address book.
6 In the address book, click an address entry.
7 In the Format address dialog box, choose a format from the Format list box.
A preview of the address is displayed in the window to the right of the Format list box.
Tip
To create labels containing text in addition to the address, you can use the Merge command. For more information, see "Merging with address books."
To insert a POSTNET bar code on a label
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Choose a label definition, from the Labels list box.
3 Click Select.
4 Click Insert Other Bar code.
5 Type a bar code or ZIP code, in the Bar code digits box.
6 In the Position area, enable one of the following options:
None-inserts the bar code at the cursor
Position bar code above address-inserts the bar code above the mailing address
Position bar code below address-inserts the bar code below the mailing address
Changing default settings for labels
You can change the default labels file and choose the type of labels to display as the default.
To change the default labels file
1 Click Tools Settings.
2 Click Files.
3 In the Files settings dialog box, click the Labels tab.
4 Type a filename and path, in the Default label file box.
If you want to include the new default file in your Favorites folder, enable the Update favorites with changes check box.
To choose the type of labels to display as the default
1 Click Tools Settings.
2 Click Files.
3 In the Files settings dialog box , click the Labels tab.
4 In the Default labels to display area, enable one of the following options:
Laser-displays label definitions for sheets of paper to be fed through a laser printer
Tractor-fed-displays label definitions for sheets with holes along the sides to guide the labels through the printer
Both-displays label definitions for both Laser and Tractor-fed sheets of paper
Creating and editing label definitions
You can create a label definition. You can discontinue labels. When you discontinue labels before filling an entire page, blank labels are added to complete the page. For example, if you type twenty-one labels on a thirty-label page, nine blank labels are added. You can also delete label definitions in a labels file
You can edit a label definition by changing the appearance, location, and label sheet size for labels. You can also choose label definitions. For information about choosing label definitions, see "Printing envelopes and labels."
To create a label definition
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Click Create.
3 In the Create labels dialog box, type a description in the Label description box.
To discontinue labels
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Click Off.
To delete a label definition from a labels file
1 Click Format Labels.
2 In the List labels for area, enable one of the following options:
Laser-displays label definitions for sheets of paper to be fed through a laser printer
Tractor-fed-displays label definitions for sheets with holes along the sides to guide the labels through the printer
Both-displays label definitions for both laser and tractor-fed sheets of paper
3 Choose a label definition, from the Labels list box.
4 Click Delete.
Note
If you delete a label definition from a labels file, you cannot recover it.
To edit the appearance of a label
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Choose a label definition from the Labels list box.
3 Click Edit.
4 In the Label size area, type a value in the all of the following boxes:
Width
Height.
5 In the Label margins area, type values in all of the following boxes:
Left-lets you specify the distance from the left edge of the label
Right-lets you specify the distance from the right edge of the label
Top-lets you specify the distance from the top of the label
Bottom-lets you specify the distance from the bottom of the label
To edit the location of labels on a page
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Choose a label definition from the Labels list box.
3 Click Edit.
4 In the Labels per page area, type a value in any of the following boxes:
Columns
Rows
5 In the Space between labels area, type a value in any of the following boxes:
Columns
Rows
6 In the Top left label area, type a value in any of the following boxes:
Top edge
Left edge
Note
An error message appears if the label size multiplied by the labels per page exceeds the label sheet size, if the total size of both margins exceeds the size of the label, and if the distance between labels or top left label amounts is too big for all labels to fit on a page.
To edit a label sheet size
1 Click Format Labels.
2 Choose a label definition from the Labels list box.
3 Click Edit.
4 In the Edit labels dialog box, click Change.
5 Modify any of the settings in the Edit page definition dialog box.
