  3. IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  5. Start Windows using the VGA drivers before installing the miro drivers!
  6.  
  7. Please check to make sure that the I/O adress 2E8 is not used. This address is
  8. used for example by the serial interface COM4!
  9.  
  10. Remember that all miroVIDEO graphics boards need an PCI IRQ.
  11.  
  12. Remove all other VGA boards from your computer or, if there is an onboard 
  13. VGA on the mainboard, disable the onboard VGA.
  14.  
  15. Please enable VIDEO-ROM Shadowing modifying the BIOS of your computer or using
  16. the ROM option of your Memory Manager (e.g. C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE ROM=C000-C800).
  17.  
  18. If you are using a Windows network version, there may occur problems which
  19. are caused by the configuration. Install the miro software for each individual
  20. computer. The installation program needs to copy drivers, programs, and
  21. configuration files to the local Windows directory. In addition, the 
  22. installation program needs to modify the local SYSTEM.INI, WIN.INI, 
  23. and CONTROL.INI files and needs to create/rewrite the MWINTOOL.GRP group file.
  24. Use the Monitor-Select and the miroSUPERSCREEN programs to adapt each system to
  25. its equipment (e.g. monitor).

  27. Please install the SMARTDRV.EXE for a quick installation from disk drive A:.
  28.  
  29. For refreshrate setting in DOS, please use the S3REFRSH.EXE from MIRO\COMMON directory.

  31. LIMITATIONS

  33. 60x480xTC                      TV Overscan is not possible.
  34.  
  35. miroSCREENADJUST               Do not use with fixed-frequency monitors.
  36.                                Do not change the image size and position
  37.                                so that they differ from the default settings 
  38.                                too much, because doing so might damage the monitor.

  45. Black icons on the             This only occurs, if you are using 256 colors or

  60. There is no WINTOOL group      Drag MWINTOOL.GRP from the drive window in the
  61. under the Norton Desktop       QUICK-ACESS group or to the DESKTOP.

  63. AVI files were played          In the WIN.INI file in the [drawdib] section
  64. very slow                      delete all entries.
  65.  
  66. Zoomed AVI files were played   Please check, that you have Video for Windows 1.1
  67. slow                           installed. Only this version supports the DCI
  68.                                interface.

  70. miroPINBOARD is working        Please check that the miroPINBOARD is loading first
  71. wrong.                         in the WIN.INI. If you have there any load= entries,
  72.                                you had to move them to the end of the run= line.

  74. Black boxes after finishing    Please change the resolution of your PIF file
  75. windowed *.pif files.          to TEXT.
