  85. This package contains the Instant File Access(TM) Version 4.00 , by
  86. Alexoft.  This document contains only a brief description of the package
  87. and its features, along with instructions for its installation. Quite
  88. detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived
  89. form, and is more easily read after installation.

  91. Instant File Access adds many features to the File Dialogs of your
  92. Windows programs. It allows you to use Long File Names when creating new
  93. documents, and lets you view these long names in the regular File and
  94. Directory listboxes.
  95.  
  96. Instant File Access is a shareware program.  This evaluation version
  97. includes all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.
  98. You may use it for up to 30 days, without charge.  If you like the
  99. program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you
  100. are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.TXT for more details).
  101. Any fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to
  102. obtain this evaluation version was a fee for their copying and
  103. distribution services, rather than a payment for continued use of the

  146. ===== Installation =====================================
  147.  
  148. The installation procedure for Instant File Access is quite simple.  The
  149. package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the entire
  150. process.  You will need about 690 Kb of available disk space on the
  151. hard drive on which you plan to install Instant File Access.
  152.  
  153. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  154. Instant File Access.
  155.  
  156.  
  157. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  158.  
  159. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  160.  
  161.    o  Place IFA distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the
  162.       appropriate diskette drive.
  163.  
  164.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  165.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  166.       the MS-DOS command, "WIN a:install".
  167.  
  168.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  169.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  170.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  171.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  172.       the IFA files to that directory. If you so direct it, the
  173.       installation program will install executable programs and
  174.       documentation in other directories of your choice.  It will make
  175.       no other changes; specifically, it will not modify your
  176.       autoexec.bat or config.sys files.

  179. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  180.  
  181. If you downloaded Instant File Access (IFA) from a BBS (or received it
  182. in the form of archive files from some other source), you will need to
  183. perform the following steps.
  184.  
  185.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  186.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  187.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  188.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  189.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  190.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  191.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  192.       the package.
  193.  
  194.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  195.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  196.       the IFA package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  197.       command, "WIN c:\tempdir\install", or run SETUP.EXE from the
  198.       Program Manager of Windows.
