  1. Thank you for choosing Photo Show 3D.

  3. There is an extensive online help that you may access from 
  4. the configuration dialog so this file contains only the 
  5. information needed to get you started.

  7. You use Program Manager to install Photo Show 3D.  From the 
  8. menu, select "File" and then "Run".  Next you type "x:SETUP" 
  9. replacing x with the drive the floppy is in (usually A).  If 
  10. you have downloaded PS3D from a BBS or an online service such 
  11. as Compuserve it will probably be on your hard drive so you 
  12. would then also include the name of the directory it is in.

  14. Below is information on configuring Photo Show 3D for 
  15. Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 users.

  17. For Windows 3.1 users

  19. You must first run Control Panel.  Usually it's in the Main 
  20. group.  Then from the Control Panel you must run Desktop.  
  21. In the Desktop setup dialog you first select Photo Show 3D 
  22. as the current screen saver and then click on the Setup 
  23. button to bring up the Photo Show 3D Configuration Dialog. 
  24. Click on the help button for additional information.

  26. For Windows 95 users

  28. Move your cursor to any clear space on your desktop, 
  29. then click on the right mouse button and choose Properties. 
  30. Click on the Screen Saver tab and choose the PS3D Screen 
  31. Saver selection from the menu.  Use the Settings to adjust 
  32. the features. Pick Preview to test the screen saver, or OK 
  33. to save the settings.  Click on the help button for 
  34. additional information.

  37. This version of Photo Show 3D uses Microsoft's new WinG fast 
  38. graphics library for Windows to support systems running any 
  39. number of colors from 16 to 16 Million.  The first time you 
  40. run a WinG application at any given screen resolution it will 
  41. display a box with an strange abstract pattern that it uses 
  42. to test for the fastest way to update the screen on your 
  43. system.  You should only see it the first time you run the 
  44. program at that resolution.

  46. If you should receive an error message stating that CTL3D or 
  47. CTL3DV2 has been installed incorrectly it only means that 
  48. there is more than one copy of the file CTL3DV2.DLL on your 
  49. system.  All you have to do to correct the problem is to 
  50. delete all but one copy.  If there is a copy in the 
  51. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory, that is the one you should keep.  
  52. It should be safe for you to delete all other copies.  If 
  53. there is not a copy in that directory there should be one 
  54. in the \WINDOWS\ directory.

  56. CAUTION: CTL3D.DLL and CTL3DV2.DLL should not be considered 
  57.          copies of the same file.  If you have both of these 
  58.          files on your system you should be careful to keep 
  59.          one copy of each.
