  27. NOTE: You may have a version of this program without the,  
  28. file "VBRUN300.DLL" provided. If so, only 2 sample pictures
  29. may be provided. This was done to save disk space and download 
  30. time.  VBRUN300.DLL is widely available and in fact may 
  31. already be in your windows directory.  Vbrun300.dll is 
  32. required for this program to function.  It will be necessary 
  33. to obtain a copy of VBRUN300.DLL in order to install and run 
  34. this program.  Registered users receive the complete version 
  35. of this program with vbrun300.dll included.  See How Do I 
  36. register below for details.

  38.   1. IMAGE MASTER + is a screen saver and image viewer for 
  39.      windows that can use your own images and midi files. 
  40.      IMAGE MASTER can play music from a CD-ROM. Music can 
  41.      play as pictures are being displayed.  You can select 
  42.      Password protection if desired.  Messages can be 
  43.      left on the screen.

  45.   2. IMAGE MASTER + can be installed as a standard Window's 
  46.      Screen saver from Window's desk top, or can be used from 
  47.      the Program Group that IMAGE MASTER + makes for windows.
  48.      IMAGE MASTER + can be used as both.
  49.   
  50.   3. IMAGE MASTER + can be used as a screen saver and/or an 
  51.      image viewer. If you have installed IMAGE MASTER + as a 
  52.      screen saver, and want to use it from the program manager 
  53.      to leave a message or make your system password protected 
  54.      while you have to be temporarily away, you can do this by 
  55.      double clicking the IMAGE MASTER + Icon.  If IMAGE MASTER +
  56.      is running from the program manager, it will not invoke 
  57.      itself as a screen saver even if the amount of time has 
  58.      passed to call it as a screen saver from the desktop.
  59.  
  60.   4. IMAGE MASTER + is ideal for corporations that need a screen 
  61.      saver that can use their own pictures or corporate logos.
  62.      It is also ideal for users who want a way to display their
  63.      own images (regardless of format) as a screen saver or 
  64.      as a stand alone program.
  65.               
  66. How do I install the program?
  67.   
  68.   1. Install IMAGE MASTER + for Windows from a disk.
  69.       
  70.       a. Start Microsoft Windows.
  71.       
  72.       b. Insert the disk in the proper drive. 
  73.       
  74.       c. From the Window's Program Manager, select FILE MENU 
  75.      and choose RUN.
  76.       
  77.       d. Type B:\SETUP and press Enter.  Substitute your 
  78.      drive letter for "B:" if your disk is in a 
  79.      different drive.

  81.   2. Install IMAGE MASTER + for Windows from a modem download.
  82.       
  83.       a. Unzip you Image Master archive.
  84.       
  85.       b. Start Microsoft Windows.
  86.       
  87.       c. From the Window's Program Manager, select FILE MENU 
  88.      and choose RUN.
  89.       
  90.       d. Select Browse, then find the drive and directory to 
  91.      which Image Master Plus was downloaded.  Double click
  92.      on the file "SETUP.EXE" then click on the O.K. command
  93.      button.
  94.  
  95.       e. Follow the prompts from the setup program.
  96.  
  97. In some cases, if you are using a program that is accessing
  98. or using a DLL or other file that IMAGE MASTER + uses and
  99. installs, you may receive a message during installation 
  100. that warns you that a file can not be installed since it 
  101. is already in use by your system.  You can choose Ignore to 
  102. this warning and the program should install correctly.
  103.  
  104. How do I make IMAGE MASTER + the active screen saver?
  105.    
  106.    1. Select "yes" to the inquiry during installation that
  107.       asks if you want Image Master + to be installed as the 
  108.       current screen saver.  This will place Image Master +
  109.       as the current screen saver on your system with a 
  110.       5 minute time of inactivity to start the program.
  111.       The 5 minute "time out" will not take effect until  
  112.       windows has been exited and reentered after Image 
  113.       Master + installation.
  114.    
  115. Alternative method for making Image Master + the active screen
  116. saver.
  117.  
  118.    1. Once IMAGE MASTER + is successfully installed, it may be 
  119.       selected as the current screen saver from windows.  
  120.       
  121.       a. From the Windows Program Manager, select MAIN.
  122.       
  123.       b. From MAIN  select CONTROL PANEL.
  124.       
  125.       c. From CONTROL PANEL select DESK TOP.
  126.       
  127.       d. From DESK TOP select the arrow key next to SCREEN 
  128.      SAVER.
  129.       
  130.       e. From the menu, select IMAGE MASTER +.
  131.    
  132.    2. The above steps will select IMAGE MASTER + as the 
  133.       current screen saver.  Use the SET UP button to select 
  134.       the features of the program you want.  It is possible to 
  135.       select and preview pictures, MIDI files, and CD-ROM 
  136.       songs.  Do this for pictures by double clicking on the
  137.       picture you want to preview in the list of Bit Maps To 
  138.       Show.  For Midis double click on the mid you want to 
  139.       hear in the list of Mide Songs to Play.
  140.    
  141.    3. Push the TEST button to run the screen saver program 
  142.       as a test.
  143.    
  144.    4. Select the desired inactive time for the screen saver 
  145.       program to implement itself.
  146.  
  147. How do I use the program from the Windows Program Manager?
  148.  
  149.    1. If the Image Master + program group is not open, double 
  150.       click on the IMAGE MASTER + program group.
  151.  
  152.    2. To run Image Master +, double click on its Icon.
  153.  
  154.    3. The program will start in the Set Up Mode.  Select the 
  155.       options you want, then push the Screen Saver button to 
  156.       start the program.
  157.  
  158.    4. Touch Start:  Double click the Touch Start Icon to 
  159.       activate the touch start hot corners.  A green line
  160.       appears at the bottom left of your screen to indicate
  161.       where to place your mouse to start Image Master +. 
  162.       Touch Start activation can be terminated by moving the
  163.       mouse pointer to the bottom right (red line) of the 
  164.       screen.  Copy the Touch Start Icon to the program 
  165.       manager's Start Up program group to have Touch Start 
  166.       activate each time windows is started.  If the Touch 
  167.       Start check box is activated (Picture Attributes, Utility 
  168.       portion of Image Master + set up), Touch Start will
  169.       reactivate itself after the screen saver portion of
  170.       Image Master + has terminated.
  171.  
  172. What are the program features?
  173.   
  174.   1. Registered users can add up to 500 Bit Map files 
  175.      (500 images) in each of the 10 Slide Shows provided.
  176.      These images can be located in any directory on your 
  177.      hard drive or floppy drives.  You can even us your CD-ROM
  178.      as a source of pictures.  If you have Kodak's Access 
  179.      software, you can use Image master to show you photo CDs.   
  180.   
  181.   2. Registered users can add up to 100 Midi selections for 
  182.      each Slide Show to be played by your midi software as 
  183.      the program displays your pictures. 
  184.   
  185.   3. Set the length of time for the picture to remain on the 
  186.      display before the next one replaces it. This time 
  187.      ranges from 10 seconds to 1 minute.
  188.   
  189.   4. Any image can be used as long as it a PCX or BMP file,
  190.      (UNREGISTERED VERSION).  The REGISTERED VERSION of 
  191.      Image Master will access the following additional file 
  192.      formats.  .DIB, .TGA, WMF, .EPS, .TIF, .JPG, CMP, .CAL, 
  193.      .IMG, .MAC, .MSP, .PCD, PCT, RAS, WPG.  NOTE: Photo CD 
  194.      images (.PCD) require Kodak's Access Software.
  195.   
  196.   5. You need not copy any picture or midi file to any other 
  197.      directory to use it.  IMAGE MASTER + can find and use 
  198.      your files from any valid hard drive, floppy or CD-ROM
  199.      drive and directory on your computer. 
  200.   
  201.   6. You can add or delete picture and midi files and set 
  202.      the picture delay through the standard setup button 
  203.      provided by windows for screen savers or by starting 
  204.      IMAGE MASTER + from the program manager by double clicking 
  205.      on its Icon.
  206.   
  207.   7. You can use scanned images as long as the image is 
  208.      saved in a format that is compatible with IMAGE MASTER 
  209.      (see 4. above for details.) 
  210.   
  211.   8. Pictures can be displayed as 1. Full Screen, 2. 75% of
  212.      screen, or 3. 50% of screen.  In this case screen 
  213.      refers to screen height.  Pictures will retain the 
  214.      correct aspect ratio regarless of Screen mode or screen
  215.      size selected.  You can elect to have your picture 
  216.      displayed with a frame around it or without frame.
  217.  
  218.   9. You can randomize the order in which your images are 
  219.      displayed. Click on the Randomize Picture Order check
  220.      box to choose this option.
  221.  
  222.  10. The speed that Image Master uses to put your images
  223.      to the screen can be adjusted.  Select Picture Attributes, 
  224.      then slide the selector bar to the slower or faster end of 
  225.      the adjuster bar to vary this speed.
  226.   
  227.  11. Any mouse button press and most keyboard keys will 
  228.      terminate Image Master and return you to the 
  229.      application you were using before Image Master 
  230.      started.  The following keys have special meaning.
  231.  
  232.     1.  If MIDI is selected, pushing the "M" key
  233.     on the keyboard will toggle the MIDI selections
  234.     playing to mute and back on again.
  235.  
  236.     2. If you have CD-Audio selected, pushing  the 
  237.     "space" bar will bring up an audio selector 
  238.     panel.  You can select Previous, Next, Play, 
  239.     Pause, and Stop with this selector bar.
  240.  
  241.     3. The "P" key will pause Image Master on the present 
  242.     image.  Pushing "P" again will toggle pause off.
  243.  
  244.  12.  You can use a Password to protect access to your 
  245.       computer when Image Master is running.
  246.  
  247.  13.  You can leave a message for any visitors you may 
  248.       have while you are away from your computer, or 
  249.       messages you may want to display to the public.
  250.  
  251.  14.  You can use Photo CD as a source for your pictures 
  252.       (REGISTERED VERSION ONLY).  You can also choose 
  253.       one of several options available for displaying 
  254.       your pictures such as gray scale and flipping your 
  255.       image.
  256.  
  257.  15.  CD-ROM audio is available in both the registered 
  258.       and unregistered versions.  If your CD-ROM is capable 
  259.       of playing CD-AUDIO, you can select it as the source 
  260.       of music for Image Master.
  261.  
  262.  16.  Touch Start is available.  The touch start Icon will
  263.       will set a "HOT" corner that will allow Image Master +
  264.       to be started by moving your mouse to the GREEN HOT 
  265.       CORNER of your screen.  Touch Start can be terminated
  266.       by moving your mouse to the RED CORNER of your screen.
  267.       You can place the touch start icon in your windows 
  268.       start up program group to have it run automatically
  269.       each time windows is started.  Activate the Touch
  270.       Start check box (in Ultilities of Picture Attributes)
  271.       to have Touch Start reinstate itself after Image Master +
  272.       has run.

  295. Common Questions!
  296.   
  297.   Q. When I double click on the Image Master Icon the program 
  298.      will not start.  What is happening? 
  299.      
  300.   A. Multiple instances of Image Master cannot be started.  If
  301.      the program was started by double clicking on its Icon
  302.      and a subsequent click outside the form hides the 
  303.      application, it is still running in the background.  
  304.      You need to bring up the Windows Task Manager to 
  305.      switch back to Image Master + or minimize the program 
  306.      manager to reveal Image Master +.  It is always best 
  307.      to end Image Master by clicking on the EXIT button 
  308.      in the Set Up form if you are not going to run the 
  309.      screen saver portion of the program immediately.
  310.      
  311.   Q. Can I use this program to display pictures of my 
  312.      business or family?
  313.   
  314.   A. Yes, you need to use a scanner to scan your image into 
  315.      a paint program.  Once an image is scanned and retouched 
  316.      as necessary, save it as any file format compatible
  317.      with this program.  Select the User Bit Maps option 
  318.      button in Image Master.  Find the file by clicking 
  319.      to the correct drive and directory.  Highlight this file 
  320.      or as many files as you want to add to the list of Bit Maps 
  321.      to show.  Once the file or files are highlighted, click 
  322.      the Add Files button to place them in the Bit Maps to Show
  323.      list box.  You can preview this or any file by double
  324.      clicking on its entry in the Bit Maps To Show window.  
  325.   
  326.      If your personal pictures are on a Photo CD, Image 
  327.      Master is the ideal tool for displaying them.
  328.   
  329.   Q. I want to use several of my own MIDI songs to be played 
  330.      by the program when my pictures are being displayed.  
  331.      How can I do this?   
  332.   
  333.   A. You can select any valid MIDI file ".mid" that is 
  334.      available on your hard disk.  It can be placed in a 
  335.      List of Songs to Play (up to 100) that will be played 
  336.      in order. Once the last file is played, the tunes will 
  337.      start over in a continuous loop. Choose the drive and 
  338.      directory that your MIDI files are on.  Highlight this 
  339.      file or as many files as you want to add to the list of 
  340.      Midi Files to Play.  Once the file or files are highlighted, 
  341.      click the Add Files button to place them in the list of
  342.      Midi Files to Play.  You can listen to any Midi file in 
  343.      the Midi Files To Play window by double clicking on it. 
  344.   
  345.   Q. When using JPG or other large 24 bit images with Image 
  346.      Master +, my MIDI music occasionally degrades.  Can this 
  347.      be prevented.
  348.  
  349.   A. These files have extremely high compression ratios, and 
  350.      as a result monopolize your processor so that there is 
  351.      no time left to play your MIDI file.  The only way to 
  352.      cure the problem is to covert your image file to a 
  353.      format the has less compression.  PCX and BMP 256 
  354.      color files will not interfere with the MIDI as the
  355.      pictures are decompressed.  You could also inactivate 
  356.      the Enable Music check box or Mute (press the "M" key 
  357.      on the keyboard) the MIDI so it will not play.  You
  358.      can listen to CD-Rom audio instead without interference
  359.      from highly compressed 24 bit images. 
  360.   
  361.   Q. When using Photo CDs to show my images with Image Master,
  362.      MIDI music I am using seems to degrade as some pictures  
  363.      are displayed.  How can I cure the problem?
  364.  
  365.   A. Very large 24 bit images can take a tremendous 
  366.      amount of processing power to decompress and decode.
  367.      These large files combined with the slow access time of
  368.      most CD-ROM drives can use your system resources so that
  369.      the processor time needed to play your MIDI files is no 
  370.      longer available. You could copy your PCD files to a hard
  371.      disk, the faster access time of a hard disk should help;  
  372.      insure you are using the Retain Bit Map Size option, then
  373.      choose a smaller display size for your images. You may 
  374.      have to disable your MIDI with the enable music check 
  375.      box or the "M" key on the keyboard if the problem persists 
  376.      and is bothersome.  
  377.
