  2. IRT (Interactive RayTrace) is a full capability code for the analysis
  3. and development of optical intrumentation based on geometric
  4. raytracing.  It covers all the basic optical elements such as lenses,
  5. mirrors, and gratings, and includes some hard-to-find features such as
  6. holographic gratings.  It supports analysis of simple systems very
  7. quickly, and supports complex systems in a very convenient fashion.

  9. IRT was originally written for VAX computers in VMS, and then UNIX
  10. operating systems.  With the increased power of 386 and greater
  11. machines it became possible to perform serious optical design on the
  12. PC.  The Windows environment is particularly well suited to the
  13. task of optical design, so IRT has now been ported to this powerful
  14. Multiple Document Interface for Windows 3.1 and higher.
