  110.     HUBBLE Image+Document Editing and Processing, version 2.20 <ASP>.
  111.     features a multi-windowed system which enables users to manipulate
  112.     several images at the same time easily by just point and shoot.
  113.  
  114.     HUBBLE also incorporate some desktop publishing features. Users can
  115.     prepare document, incorporate images, drawings, etc. to the document.

  136.     Some IMPLEMENTATION NOTES about the operation supported:
  137.     - Merge Two Images
  138.          The operation is implemented in a very flexible way that allow
  139.          users to be able to combine two scanned images (or images with
  140.          compatible palette) in any direction in a seamless manner.
  141.          Users can select images to be merged by clicking the image
  142.          itself or the reduced version of the images. Then drag mouse
  143.          on the images to be merged.
  144.          (images with incompatible palette can be made compatible using
  145.           "Custom Color Conversion and Dithering" from "Transform Menu")
  146.          (See online help, Tutorial.txt, etc. for detail)
  147.     - Stitch Images
  148.          Users can drop/superimposed one image onto another and
  149.          scale to desired size at selected location. Users can also
  150.          stitch image from the clipboard.
  151.          Users select images to be stitched by clicking the image itself
  152.          or th reduced version of the images. Users can adjust how the
  153.          images appear by dragging mouse on the images to be stitched.
  154.          (As in Merge Two Images, images with incompatible palette can be
  155.           made compatible using "Custom Color Conversion and Dithering")
  156.     - Customized image processing operations:
  157.          A. Pre-defined and user-defined filters.(Advanced Image
  158.             Filtering)
  159.             Allow users to design and experiment with various predefined
  160.             and user-defined filters to achieve desired effect.
  161.             Users will be presented with a list of pre-defined filters
  162.             and user-defined filter to choose from. It's also possible
  163.             to define new filters and save the result.
  164.             Pre-defined filters are internal to the program, and cannot
  165.             be modified. User-defined filters are saved in FILTER.CFG
  166.             file. Users can use pre-defined or previously saved filter
  167.             as a template and make adjustment.
  168.          B. Interactive equalization.
  169.             If the default equalization (Contrast adjustment) does not
  170.             yield satisfactory result, Users can choose to make the
  171.             adjustment by customizing the equalization process.
  172.             Users are presented with a list of equalization methods. If
  173.             user choose custom method, users can effectively design the
  174.             target frequency distribution of the image intensity levels
  175.             by drag mouse on the target histogram.
  176.          C. Tone and Color Adjustment.
  177.             Users are presented with a list of brightening methods. If
  178.             user choose custom method, users not only adjust intensity
  179.             level of each color component, but also how each component
  180.             is adjusted. The adjustment can be achieve by drag mouse on
  181.             the histogram.
  182.     - Custom Color Conversion and Dithering.
  183.           Make customized color conversion with appropriate palette sets.
  184.           Allow users to design and experiment with many well known
  185.           (at least in the computer graphic literatures) dithering
  186.           and color conversion methods. Users can also design new
  187.           methods using previously defined method as template.
  188.     - [DOCUMENT PROCESSING MODE] Users can add images, drawing, etc.
  189.           to the document. Users can adjust or customized various text,
  190.           images, or drawing, etc., reaarange them to suit our needs.
  191.     - Capture image.
  192.          Users can choose either to capture screen image to another
  193.          window or capture to clipboard after the menu command has been
  194.          selected, a dialog will be show at the lower left corner. Users
  195.          can then arrange the desktop to have the appearance they want.
  196.          To begin the operation, users click on the <OK>
  197.          button, and then drag mouse to select area to be captured.
  198.     - Image editing tools:
  199.          Add text, drawing, and a wide range of operations. Image
  200.          editing tools also provide features which allow users to
  201.          precisely adjust and / or customize the operations in a very
  202.          flexible way USERS CAN FINE TUNE OR ADJUST VARIOUS ATTRIBUTES
  203.          BEFORE COMMITTING THE CHANGES TO THE IMAGE. E.G. MOVE AND

  208. 3. NOTES ON DRIVER INCLUDED
  209.  
  210.       This program support TWAIN compatible device, i.e., It can acquire
  211.       input from, say, scanners that have driver which support and hence
  212.       conform to the TWAIN specification.
  213.  
  214.       The file DCD.DS is a sample TWAIN driver to read bitmap file and
  215.       will be installed on the TWAIN subdirectory of the WINDOWS
  216.       directory.
  217.  
  218.       If you did not get TWAIN driver software when purchasing the
  219.       scanner, contact your manufacture or dealer and ask for TWAIN
  220.       driver for the scanner. (there may be other input device that
  221.       support TWAIN) A majority of scanner manufactures have driver
  222.       which are conform to TWAIN specification.

  225.       Although it's recommended that users acquire input using TWAIN
  226.       compatible device, this program also include driver for one older
  227.       model of Logitech Scanman driver. This is partly because
  228.       originally part of the program use toolkits from Logitech, Inc.
  229.       It is include also to maintain similar option with OS/2 version of
  230.       the progra (still under development) which use similar driver and
  231.       TWAIN driver under OS/2 are generally still not available at the
  232.       time of development.

  326.       A. TO INSTALL FROM HARDDISK

  328.          1. Copy every files to a harddisk directory, e.g. C:\TEMP

  331.             (If it expand to two ZIP files, HUBBLE1.ZIP and HUBBLE2.ZIP,
  332.              Then decompress  HUBBLE1.ZIP and HUBBLE2.ZIP using

  334.             pkunzip hubble?  OR pkunzip *

  336.          3. Install the program.
  337.             3.1 From Windows program manager, open file menu (Alt+F)
  338.                 and choose "RUN".
  339.             3.2 Type C:\TEMP\INSTALL [-v] and follow the instruction.

  377.       C. PROBLEM WITH INSTALLATION
  378.          If for any reason you can't install HUBBLE, such as some
  379.          installation files are corrupted, etc.
  380.          Then follow the following steps:
  381.          1. Create an empty subdirectory, such as C:\HUBBLE and go to
  382.             that subdirectory. e.g.
  383.             C:         <Enter>
  384.             CD \       <Enter>
  385.             MD HUBBLE  <Enter>
  386.             CD HUBBLE  <Enter>
  387.          2. Unpack (UnZIP) every file to HUBBLE subdirectory, e.g.
  388.             pkunzip d:\path\hubble?  OR pkunzip d:\path\*
  389.          3. Expand hubble.ex_ ==> hubble.exe using "Expand" program
  390.             come with Windows 3.x
  391.             expand -r hubble.ex_ .
  392.          4. If you also want to acquire image using TWAIN compatible
  393.             scanners/devices, copy the following files:
  394.             *** please check files contents before copying ***
  395.             4.1 all DLL files *.DLL to Windows and System subdirectory.
  396.                 e.g. C:\WINDOWS and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  397.             4.2 All *.ds files to TWAIN subdirectory of the Windows
  398.                 directory, e.g. C:\WINDOWS\TWAIN. You may have to
  399.                 go to C:\WINDOWS to  create TWAIN subdirectory.
  400.             4.3 You may have to contact your Scanners/Devices
  401.                 manufacturer to get the latest driver for TWAIN
  402.                  compatible driver.
  403.  
  404. NOTES: To install HUBBLE on OS/2
  405.        a.) If HUBBLE is already installed on Windows:
  406.            At OS/2 command prompt, type MIGRATE and follow
  407.            the instruction to migrate HUBBLE to OS/2.
  408.        b.) If HUBBLE is NOT already installed on Windows:
  409.            (OS/2 is the only system)
  410.            Run FULL SCREEN WINDOWS from OS/2, and install HUBBLE
  411.            as you would install on Windows. After that, at OS/2
  412.            command prompt, type MIGRATE and follow the instruction
  413.            to migrate HUBBLE to OS/2 desktop.

  422. HUBBLE is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the 
  423. users for *evaluation*. Feel free to share it with your friends, but
  424. please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.  
  425. The essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal 
  426. computer users with quality software without high prices, and yet to
  427. provide incentive for software author to continue to develop new and
  428. better products. If you find this program useful and find that you 
  429. are using HUBBLE and continue to use HUBBLE after a reasonable trial 
  430. period, you must make a registration payment of USD$37.00 to HUBBLE
