WinDO Version 2.0
Win Daily Organizer is simple Windows-based program designed to remind the user of
various events such as birthdays, anniversarys, appointments, and things to do.
Each reminder type can be set up as Single day, Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly,
Quarterly, Semi Annually or Annually. There are two special reminder types for
birthdays and anniversarys that will calculate the person's age or years married.
Once a reminder is entered, the program will automatically keep track of updating
and display its data as the days, weeks and months go by. There are several start
up options that enable the user to run the program once per day regardless of how many
times Windows is re-started. The program can also play up to four "wav" sound files
when a reminder is due.
New Features:
1. Print Option
2. Improved Old Reminder handling.
3. Every aspect of WinDO is customizable. Including Colors and Fonts.
4. Improved Keyboard support. If no reminder is highlighted "Enter key" automatically
adds new reminder. If a reminder is highlighted, "Enter key" edits reminder. Arrow keys
also highlight reminders.
5. Customizable Defaults (Add Reminder Window)
6. Drag and Drop reminders to Trash Can.
7. New Status Column for "Manual Redate" and "Alarm Enabled" reminders
8. Improved Alarm function. If alarm sounds, WinDO becomes the top window
and flashes the title bar and reminder.
9. Optional "Silent Mode". No logo when run with command line switches.
10. Optional default directory.
11. Added "Last Day of Month" feature. If you select the last day of any month, WinDO
will always display that reminder on the last day of that month (28, 29, 30, 31).
Misc. Improvements:
1. Improved speed.
2. Reduced system resources.
3. Corrected data loss error when Windows locks up.
4. Added "Hot Keys" for keyboard users.
5. Added automatic support for foreign date and time formats.
6. WinDO now checks for missing support files to prevent GPF errors.
Installing WinDO:
Copy the following files to your Windows System directory. Some of these file may already be
present.
!!!! IF A NEWER VERSION EXISTS ON YOUR HARD DRIVE, USE THE NEWER VERSION. Especially for Win95. !!!!
COMMDLG.DLL
MSAFINX.DLL
ANIBUTON.VBX
CMDIALOG.VBX
MCI.VBX
MSMASKED.VBX
PICCLIP.VBX
SPIN.VBX
THREED.VBX
TOOLBUTN.VBX
TRUEGRID.VBX
WinDO was written using Visual Basic 3.0 and requires the "VBRUN300.DLL" to operate.
The "VBRUN300.DLL" file may already be located in your "WINDOWS \ SYSTEM" directory.
If it is not, it can be found in many CompuServe and America Online forums, as well as
on many local BBS's.
Copy WINDO.EXE, WINDO.HLP and TRASH.WAV to the directory of your choice (The three files must be in
the same directory). You may use your WinDO version 1 directory if you are upgrading.
Upgrade Notes:
WinDO 2.0 uses the same file format as version 1.0. There are some changes in the way version 2.0
handles old reminders and therefore filters them out of the WINDO.DAT file and copies them to PAST_REM.TXT
automatically. Version 2.0 also filters out "&&" double ampersands that may or may not be in your reminder
message text. Version 1.1 required these to display correctly as "&" (John & Helga). If for some reason you
wish to return to version 1.1, make a backup copy of your WINDO.DAT file (Do not call it WINDO.BAK, since
WinDO uses that file name for its backup).
Foreign Date Formats:
I have tried to make WinDO compatible with different date formats (this has been a constant problem with
version 1.1). I have tested several date and time formats and believe it is working correctly in this
version. If you run into problems please notify me.
Known Bugs:
1. WinDO was tested and setup using the small font video mode in Windows. There are some text
alignment errors when the large font video mode is used. The following video resolutions
should work fine with the small font video mode (640 x 480, 800 x 600, and 1024 x 768).
2. The date of your reminder may not display if the date cell is too small. To correct this
display error, make the date cell wider by grabbing its right boarder with the mouse.
WinDO will remember the new size.
