Upgrading from Ample Notice for DOS
If you are upgrading from Ample Notice for DOS versions 2 or 3,
you'll find that your old NOTES file is completely compatible with
the Windows version. Assuming for example that your DOS version
is in the directory C:\AN3 and you've just installed the Windows
version in C:\ANW (the defaults), then you could enter from a DOS
prompt:
copy c:\an3\notes c:\anw\notes.apt
While you customized the DOS version using a CONFIG.CAL file,
configuration details are kept in ANW.INI in your Windows
directory. The syntax for ANW.INI is completely different -- see
"Customizing" in Help for a complete reference. Most users won't
have to modify ANW.INI at all -- the default setup should serve
average tastes well.
You can share a single notes file between AN 3.0 for DOS and the
new ANW. To make the ANW notes file C:\ANW\NOTES.APT accessible
to AN 3.0, edit the following line in your CONFIG.CAL file:
Notes c:\anw\notes.apt
If you're sharing a notes file you'll also want to share the
archive file for outdated appointments, so add
Archive c:\anw\archive.apt
as well.
