~~$* Is the scanner plugged in, unlocked, and turned on? The green light on the front of the scanner should be on.
~~* Is the scanner cable connected securely to the scanner and the PC?
~~* Is the scanner in use by another scanner application such as HP DeskScan or HP PictureScan? If so, close the application and then retry HP Scanner Test.
~~^If your scanner is a SCSI device, is the SCSI bus properly terminated? See your installation guide on proper termination use.
