  2. The Windows Media server is built into the Windows NT/2000 Server.  It provides for guaranteed realtime playback and supports video scalability based on the user's connection speed.

  4. You may also use Windows Media without a dedicated media server, simply by placing the .WMV or .WMA files on any HTTP web server.  This does not provide as reliable playback, however.
