  1.    ** How to install the device driver under DOS environment **
  2.  
  3. TEAC CD-ROM SETUP PROGRAM is the program to install the device driver under 
  4. Windows. If you want to install it under DOS, please follow the instruction 
  5. below.
  6.  
  7. 1. Please install the hardware in your PC. (Refer to the Hardware Instruction)
  8.  
  9. 2. Please copy the following 2 files located in the root directory of SETUP
  10.    DISK in your Hard disk drive.
  11.     TEAC_CDI.SYS
  12.     CORELCDX.COM
  13.     (Example)    COPY A:\TEAC_CDI.SYS C:\TEAC_CDI.SYS
  14.             COPY A:\CORELCDX.COM C:\CORELCDX.COM
  15.             (A:FLOPPY DISK C:HARD DISK DRIVE)
  16.  
  17. 3. Please add the following line in your Config.sys file with using Text
  18.    Editor (EDIT.COM for MS-DOS or E.EXE for PC-DOS etc). This statement can be 
  19.    added in any line.
  20.         DEVICE=C:\TEAC_CDI.SYS /D:TEAC-CDI
  21.             * "C" is drive letter you copied TEAC_CDI.SYS
  22.  
  23. 4. Please add the following line in your Autoexec.bat file with using Text 
  24.    Editor (EDIT.COM for MS-DOS or E.EXE for PC-DOS). This statement can be 
  25.    added in any line.
  26.         C:\CORELCDX.COM /D:TEAC-CDI
  27.             * "C" is drive letter you copied CORELCDX.COM
  28.  
  29. 5. Remove the floppy disk from the drive after editing both Config.sys and 
  30.    Autoexec.bat then reboot your computer.
  31.  
  32. 6. The following should be displayed on the screen during boot-up
  33.  
  34.         C:\>C:\CORELCDX.COM /D:TEAC-CDI
  35.         Corel CD-ROM Extensions for DOS version 1.15b
  36.         Copyright (C) Corel Corporation 1992-1994
  37.             Drive D: =Driver TEAC-CDI unit 0
  38.  
  39.         * "D" is drive letter assigned to CD-ROM Drive
  40.           This message means that TEAC CD-ROM drive is now activated.
  41.  
  42.     ** Now the installation of TEAC CD-ROM drive is completed. In a future, 
  43.        when you install Windows, please run TEAC SETUP PROGRAM AGAIN.

  46.   ** Q & A when you have a problem **
  47.

  49. Q1: System will not boot if CD-ROM is daisy-chained with hard disk drive.
  50. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  51. A: In this case, please make sure that hard disk drive jumper is set to MASTER 
  52.    and CD-ROM's to SLAVE.
  53.    Please refer to the installation manual for CD-ROM jumper setting and ask 
  54.    hard drive manufacturer for MASTER jumper setting.
  55.    Note: There may be the case that CD-ROM can not be daisy-chained with
  56.          Conner drive (Conner mode).
  57.

  59. Q2: System will hang without displaying anything when the device driver is 
  60.    loaded.
  61. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  62. A1:There is a possibility that TEAC device driver is having a conflict with 
  63.    other. Please change the position of the device driver statement or remark
  64.    the other driver which may be having a conflict with.
  65. A2:In case that TEAC CD-56E drive is connected with non TEAC CD-ROM drive.
  66.    Please re-install the TEAC CD-ROM address by going through 'SELECT I/O PORT'.

  69. Q3: "Not Install Device Driver" message is displayed during loading the device 
  70.    driver.
  71. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  72. A1:Please make sure that Power cable and I/F cable are properly connected.
  73. A2:Please make sure that there is no conflict with IDE card address (primary, 
  74.    secondary, tertiary etc.) and/or interrupt.
  75. A3:In case that CD-56E is daisy-chained with hard disk drive, please make sure
  76.    that hard disk drive jumper is set to MASTER and CD-ROM's to SLAVE.
  77.    Please refer to the installation manual for CD-ROM jumper setting and ask
  78.    hard drive manufacturer for MASTER jumper setting.
  79. A4:In case that your IDE I/O address is set to Tertiary/Quaternary, please 
  80.    re-install the TEAC CD-ROM Software to change the address by selecting
  81.    'SELECT I/O PORT'.
  82. A5:There will be the case that CD-56E will not work with IDE Controller card 
  83.    with Cache.

  86. Q4: CD-56E will not be recognized by the system.
  87. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  88. A: Drive names specified in Config.sys and Autoexec.bat may not be matching.
  89.    Please make sure that each statement has "/D:TEAC-CDI"

  91. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  92. Q5: CD-56E will not be recognized by the system with displaying "Not enough drive 
  93.    letters".
  94. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  95. A: There may be no more Drive letter available. Please add or edit "LASTDRIVE"
  96.    statement so that the last drive equals one more than your current last drive.

  106. Q6: Getting the display "XMS cache not installed"

  108. A: Please refer to CorelCDX's document file (CORELCDX.TXT).

  111. Q7: Getting the display "CDR101: Not Ready" when CD-ROM is accessed.

  113. A: Please make sure that the disk is inserted in the drive or is not placed up 
  114.    side down.

  117. Q8: Getting the display "CDR103: CD-ROM not High Sierra or ISO 9660 format"
  118.    when CD-ROM is accessed.

  120. A: This message will be displayed when non-standard CD is accessed.
  121.     (Example) Placing Audio CD and accessing it without going into CDPLAYER.

  124. Q9: CD-56E will not be recognized when RAM Boost is used.

  126. A: Please insert the statement of TEAC device driver before Ram Boost statement
  127.    in your Config.sys.

  130. Q10: Do I need BIOS CMOS Setup for my IDE CD-ROM ?

  132. A: NO,CD-ROM is not supported by BIOS.It is different from Hard Disk Drive.
  133.    Please select "none" for BIOS Setup of CD-ROM I/O port.

  136. Q11: CD-PLAYER for Windows will not work.

  138. A: To operate CD-PLAYER for Windows,[MCI]CD Audio has to be installed in Drivers
  139.    in Control Panel.Please refer to Windows manual to install [MCI]CD Audio.

  142. Q12: How can I see Photo CD ?

  144. A: You have to use Photo CD access software released from Kodak,Corel or Adaptec
  145.    to see Photo CD.

  148. Q13: How can I see CD-I/Video CD ?

  150. A: You need MPEG Playback Card (Ex. RealMagic) to play CD-I/Video CD/Karaoke CD.
  151.    You can see a directory of Video CD but not of CD-I.

  156. A: There are two kind of Disk.One is called CD-I which you have to use
  157.    CD-I player and the other is CD-I Digital Video which you can play with
