1. Introduction
=================
1.1 3D-Win General Information

This software is simple to use and offers a number of attractive
features:
- fast import of DWG, DXF and 3DS constructions
- layer manipulation (AutoCAD 12)
- various rendering methods (Gouraud, Phong etc.) per mouse click
- view manipulation per slider or mouse
- view export to AutoCAD
- WALK and TEACH animations
- Flic file creation
- integrated toolbar for fast function access
- extensive 3D-Win online help
1.2 System Requirements
-----------------------
(a) PC + Memory
To use AutoCAD and BigFocus effectively you will need a large amount of
memory and a large Windows swap file. Special information on this topic
is described in the AutoCAD for Windows documentation and in the
corresponding Autodesk forum in CompuServe.
(b) Windows
The current version of this software is for Windows 3.1x, Windows for
Workgroups, Windows(R) 95 and Windows NT. Differences in the functionality
of the respective versions are documented in the integrated online help.
Please note that Windows(R) 95 and Windows NT users must be using
AutoCAD 13.
(c)
Under Windows 3.1x, Win32s must be installed prior to 3D-Win.
2. Release Notes
==================
2.1 AutoCAD 13
---------------
Previous limitations has been removed. The following now apply for
AutoCAD 13 users:
- DWGs can be directly imported from AutoCAD 13 sessions
- Layer manipulation is now possible
2.2 FIRE GL and Hardware Acceleration
--------------------------------------
It is now also possible for Windows NT to activate the hardware
acceleration option for the FIRE GL's Glint chip.
3 Troubleshooting
====================
Windows 3.1
Problem:
3D-Win reports that it can not find various files.
Solution:
Check the file W3DVIEW.INI file in your Windows directory.
It will contain the following section:
[viewer]
....
startdir=c:\viewer
acaddir=c:\acadwin
acad13dir=c:\acadwin
....
Acad13=1
whereby the path (C:\VIEWER in this example) must correspond to your
installation target directory. Alter or add the entries if necessary.
If you are using AutoCAD 12 then the entry Acad12=1 must be present
(and likewise Acad13=1 if you are using AutoCAD 13).
Problem:
3D-Win doesn't display the toolbar or status bar.
Solution:
Check the file W3DVIEW.INI file in your Windows directory.
It will contain the following section:
[viewer]
....
Toolbar=0
Statusbar=0
....
Check the entries and set them to 1 in order to activate the elements.
