Kelvin Video64
Supplemental Windows NT Driver Release
---------------------------------------
The file you have downloaded, KVID-NT.EXE, contains Windows NT
v3.5x drivers v1.04.00 for the Kelvin Video64 board. This is a
supplemental driver release, not a complete driver disk set.
This does not replace your existing Kelvin Video64 driver disk
set, but is a supplement to it. This readme file contains
instructions for installing the drivers. You have already
completed the first step, by unpacking the KVID-NT.EXE file and
reading this.
When you unpack KVID-NT.EXE you should have the following files:
PROMTN SYS 12,608 09-15-95 5:11p
PROMTN8 DLL 16,896 09-15-95 5:54p
OEMSETUP INF 17,360 10-19-95 10:58a
DISK1 5 04-15-94 6:12a
README 1ST 4,535 01-23-96
Installing the Drivers
-----------------------------
These instructions assume that you already have the Kelvin
Video64 board installed in your system, and that you already
have the Windows NT operating system installed on your hard disk.
You should use the Windows NT "Change Display Type" procedure to
install these new drivers. The "Change Display Type" procedure
is menu driven, and fairly self explanatory. Here are the step-
by-step instructions for the procedure.
1. Start Windows NT. Before beginning new driver installation,
we recommend that you shut down any other programs you may
be running.
2. Double click on the "Control Panel" icon from the "Main"
Group.
3. Double click on the "Display" icon, and select "Change
Display Type". In the "Adapter Type" field, click on
"Change...".
4. When the "Display Driver List" screen pops up, click on the
"Other..." button on the lower right of the window.
5. At the prompt, fill in the appropriate driver letter and path
name for the directory on your system where you unpacked the
new Kelvin NT drivers, then click on the "OK" button.
6. Select "Kelvin Video64 Card" and click on the "Install"
button.
7. When the "Installing Driver" screen pops up, click on the
"Yes" button.
8. When the Windows NT Setup screen pops up with path, click on
"Continue". This will start the file transfer process.
9. After the installation is complete, restart Windows NT for
the new drivers to take effect.
**NOTE** When Windows NT reboots, it will display a window with a
warning about "Invalid Display Setting". This is normal since a
new adapter driver has been installed but Windows NT is not setup
with the new resolution. Click on the "OK" button to continue
with the setup.
10. Open the Control Panel again and double click on the
"Display" icon.
11. Click on the "List resolution" button and select the desired
resolution. Follow the on-screen instructions from there.
