miro WINDOWS 95 TWINFACE driver for 20SD/22SD/20SV/40SV/44SV twin Version 2.00
RESTRICTIONS:
=============
- No support of VLB boards.
- No support of S3-864 and S3-964 Controller based boards.
The driver works with the boards basicly, but certain features are heavily
limited (main restriction: DOS box with twinface driver may cause system crash)
LIST OF ALL SUPPORTED TWINFACE BOARDS (WITH BIOS VERSION):
- 20SDtwin Rev. 3.x
- 22SDtwin Rev. 5.x
- 20SVtwin Rev. 3.x
- 40SVtwin Rev. 3.x
- 44SVtwin
On all other Twinface boards the driver is working with limitations.
IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
===============================================================================
Start Windows using the VGA drivers before installing the miro drivers!
Remove all other VGA boards from your computer or, if there is an onboard
VGA on the mainboard, disable the onboard VGA.
The Windows 95 driver software is configured for installation from CD-ROM.
In case your copy is available on disk only (beta status, update, etc.), copy
the content of the Windows 95 driver disks to any directory on your hard disk
first:
E.g. to copy from A: to directory C:\TMP: "XCOPY A:\*.* C:\TMP /S"
The installation can be done Windows 95 compliant afterwards. (Refer to
Installation Guide.)
During installation from CD-ROM the subdirectory "MIRO\INSTALL" is created in
the current Windows 95 directory. Further installations (e.g. switching between
twinface and single driver) can be started directly from this directory without
usage of the installation CD.
Installation of miro Windows 95 drivers and miroWINTOOLS
========================================================
* If you have not done so already, start your computer
* Click the Start menu
* Click on the RUN... Icon
* Enter the command "X":\MIRO_WIN
* The miro*win install window opens
* Select your desired language and click "Install"
* The miro Windows 95 drivers will be copied to your system
(Later installations can be done without by using the subdirectory "MIRO\INSTALL"
in the current Windows 95 directory)
* The Settings folder appears
* Choose "miro S3 Single PCI" or "miro S3 Twinface PCI" driver
* the drivers get installed and start working after restart
After the restart the miroWINTOOLS (according to Single- or. Twinface driver)
will be installed. After that the Installation is done and exits.
Now you can select the monitors in the new tab "Twinface"
in the "Display Properties". Board "0" stands for the main graphic board (upper
connector), Board "1" stands for the piggy board (lower connector). You have to
restart the system again after you have chosen the monitors. After the restart
you can change resolution and colour depth. For changing resolution and color
depth please use the tab "Twinface" in the "Display Properties" dialog box,
since the Windows 95 standard method (the tab "Settings") whould not offer
every available combination of resolutions.
LIMITATIONS
===============================================================================
miroSCREENADJUST Do not use with fixed-frequency monitors.
Do not change the image size and position
so that they differ from the default settings
too much, because doing so might damage the
monitor.
In Twinface configuration:
Please make sure that no output limitations are
chosen in miroPINBOARD (use only left screen/only
right screen), while miroSCREENADJUST is running.
miroTINTCONTROL In 16/32 bit only the main card is supported.
In Twinface configuration both screens are
calibrated simultanously in any color depth. In
case two different monitors are used, only one can
be calibrated optimal.
miroPOWERSAVE Works, if choosen as screensaver and selected miro
monitor supports power saving. In case you are not
sure, if one of your monitors supports power
saving, you should choose a standard monitor
(multi frequency monitor) with an according line
frequency. That way you make sure that
miroPOWERSAVE would not try to turn off that
monitor.
The internal Windows 95 power saving does not work
in Twinface configuration.

General:
===============================================================================
1.) A DIB engine driver is not usable for Video for Windows, but the
optimized drivers can be fully used, if the miroPINBOARD will set the
entries depending on the selected display mode in the Win.ini file.
->If possible, start the miroPINBOARD always starting Windows 95.
The miroPINBOARD will correct the entries of Video for Windows
automatically.
2.) Using the miroPINBOARD it may happen that switching from the
virtual modes to the real modes doesn't work at once. In this case we
recommend to switch into the real mode resolution (640 x 480) first and
after this to a higher resolution.
