  5. RESTRICTIONS:
  6. =============
  7. - No support of VLB boards.
  8. - No support of S3-864 and S3-964 Controller based boards.
  9.   The driver works with the boards basicly, but certain features are heavily 
  10.   limited (main restriction: DOS box with twinface driver may cause system crash)
  11.

  18. On all other Twinface boards the driver is working with limitations.

  20. IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  21. ===============================================================================
  22. Start Windows using the VGA drivers before installing the miro drivers!
  23.  
  24. Remove all other VGA boards from your computer or, if there is an onboard 
  25. VGA on the mainboard, disable the onboard VGA.
  26.  
  27. The Windows 95 driver software is configured for installation from CD-ROM. 
  28. In case your copy is available on disk only (beta status, update, etc.), copy 
  29. the content of the Windows 95 driver disks to any directory on your hard disk 
  30. first:
  31. E.g. to copy from A: to directory C:\TMP: "XCOPY A:\*.* C:\TMP /S"
  32. The installation can be done Windows 95 compliant afterwards. (Refer to 
  33. Installation Guide.)
  34.  
  35. During installation from CD-ROM the subdirectory "MIRO\INSTALL" is created in
  36. the current Windows 95 directory. Further installations (e.g. switching between
  37. twinface and single driver) can be started directly from this directory without
  38. usage of the installation CD.

  40. Installation of miro Windows 95 drivers and miroWINTOOLS
  41. ========================================================
  42. * If you have not done so already, start your computer
  43. * Click the Start menu
  44. * Click on the RUN... Icon
  45. * Enter the command "X":\MIRO_WIN
  46. * The miro*win install window opens
  47. * Select your desired language and click "Install"
  48. * The miro Windows 95 drivers will be copied to your system
  49.   (Later installations can be done without by using the subdirectory "MIRO\INSTALL"
  50.   in the current Windows 95 directory)
  51. * The Settings folder appears
  52. * Choose "miro S3 Single PCI" or "miro S3 Twinface PCI" driver
  53. * the drivers get installed and start working after restart
  54.  
  55. After the restart the miroWINTOOLS (according to Single- or. Twinface driver) 
  56. will be installed. After that the Installation is done and exits.
  57. Now you can select the monitors in the new tab "Twinface" 
  58. in the "Display Properties". Board "0" stands for the main graphic board (upper
  59. connector), Board "1" stands for the piggy board (lower connector). You have to
  60. restart the system again after you have chosen the monitors. After the restart 
  61. you can change resolution and colour depth. For changing resolution and color 
  62. depth please use the tab "Twinface" in the "Display Properties" dialog box, 
  63. since the Windows 95 standard method (the tab "Settings") whould not offer 
  64. every available combination of resolutions.

  66. LIMITATIONS
  67. ===============================================================================
  68. miroSCREENADJUST              Do not use with fixed-frequency monitors.
  69.                               Do not change the image size and position
  70.                               so that they differ from the default settings 
  71.                   too much, because doing so might damage the 
  72.                               monitor.
  73.                               In Twinface configuration:
  74.                               Please make sure that no output limitations are 
  75.                               chosen in miroPINBOARD (use only left screen/only 
  76.                               right screen), while miroSCREENADJUST is running.
  77.  
  78. miroTINTCONTROL               In 16/32 bit only the main card is supported.
  79.                               In Twinface configuration both screens are 
  80.                               calibrated simultanously in any color depth. In 
  81.                               case two different monitors are used, only one can 
  82.                               be calibrated optimal.
  83. miroPOWERSAVE                 Works, if choosen as screensaver and selected miro 
  84.                               monitor supports power saving. In case you are not 
  85.                               sure, if one of your monitors supports power
  86.                               saving, you should choose a standard monitor
  87.                               (multi frequency monitor) with an according line
  88.                               frequency. That way you make sure that 
  89.                               miroPOWERSAVE would not try to turn off that 
  90.                               monitor.
  91.                               The internal Windows 95 power saving does not work 
  92.                               in Twinface configuration.

  104. GPF with MS QUICKSTART BAR    Occures in certain PINBOARD configurations (e.g.
  105. in Twinface configuration     output linited to one screen, than MS QUICKSTART 
  106.                               BAR is started from the other screen). Please avoid 
  107.                               those pinboard configurations or avoid the
  108.                               MS QUICKSTART BAR at all.
  109.                               To remove the MS QUICKSTART BAR from the auto 
  110.                               start menue, do the following:
  111.                               - open the Start Menue
  112.                               - enter submenue "SETTINGS" and click "TASKBAR"
  113.                               - select the folder "START MENUE PROGRAMS" in the
  114.                                 "TASKBAR PROPERTIES" window.
  115.                               - click the "REMOVE" button
  116.                               - select subdirectory "AUTOSTART"
  117.                               - mark the entry "MSOFFICE" and click the "REMOVE"

  121. General:
  122. ===============================================================================
  123. 1.) A DIB engine driver is not usable for Video for Windows, but the
  124.     optimized drivers can be fully used, if the miroPINBOARD will set the 
  125.     entries depending on the selected display mode in the Win.ini file.

  127.     ->If possible, start the miroPINBOARD always starting Windows 95. 
  128.       The miroPINBOARD will correct the entries of Video for Windows 
  129.       automatically.

  132. 2.) Using the miroPINBOARD it may happen that switching from the
  133.     virtual modes to the real modes doesn't work at once. In this case we
  134.     recommend to switch into the real mode resolution (640 x 480) first and
  135.     after this to a higher resolution.
