MVCONFIG.BAT will allow you to change the IRQ & DMA configuration
of the sound card. It has the unique ability to change settings,
test those settings, and save the settings in two different ways.
One way is for testing proposes only and will not effect the
settings that the sound is currently set for. The second way will
allow you to change the system files (AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, and
SYSTEM.INI).
Why would we provide this strange way of configuration? It's
because there are some combinations of IRQ and DMA settings that
will conflict with other devices in your system. An example of this
type of conflict is when your system locks up or crashes. With the
multiple options we provide, you can test different settings. Once
you find a configuration that seems stable, you can then save your
new configuration.
To change your configuration, move the highlighted bar via the
arrow keys to the option you would like to change. Press enter to
view and select an option.
MENU OPTIONS:
"Test New Settings"-- This will test your experimental settings and save
them in a file called 'qcfg.ini'. It will not update your system files.
Once you have found a configuration that works, choose the next option,
"Save New Settings, Restart Computer" to have this configuration take a
permanent effect.
"Save New Settings, Restart Computer" -- This will update your system
files (AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, and SYSTEM.INI) and restart your
computer so that those changes can take effect.
"Exit This Screen" --> This will return you back to DOS. You can also
press ESC at any time to abort unsaved changes.
CD ROM ISSUES OR OTHER FEATURES:
MVCONFIG.BAT configurations will only test the sound card's IRQ
or DMA. Depending on the kit you have installed, you may have the
option to change the address of the CD ROM interface or some other
special feature of the sound card. If you are having a problem with
the CD-ROM drive or special feature, please consult the manual or the
On-line Help file in Windows for troubleshooting or configuration
information.
