This executable file is a self-decompressing file containing the following 2
files:
MCAM950 SYS 5834 7-15-94 12:54PM
FDCD SYS 40574 7-15-94 1:39PM
Both files are used to initialize your CD-ROM drive. Those files will only
work with Media Vision Sound cards that use the Future Domain SCSI chip set
(e.g. Prosonic 16). To upgrade to the new drivers, please perform the
following steps:
1. You should make a back up of the old file in the event your the new files
are not compatible with your system. (If you had a download problem,
the files may be damaged and it is not a compatibility issue). The
assumption is made that the file that was downloaded has been ran (or you
wouldn't be reading this now). The following instructions are how to copy
the updated files. Please substitute any directory names if you need to.
2. Rename the old MCAM950.SYS and FDCD.SYS in your Media Vision home directory
(e.g. \MEDVSN).
Example: C:\MEDVSN\>REN MCAM950.SYS MCAM950.OLD<Enter>.
3. Copy the new MCAM950.SYS and FDCD.SYS into your Media Vision home
directory. Let's say that the directory that contains your the files you
downloaded is named DNLDSTUF and it is a branch of your root directory on
your C drive.
Example: C:\>COPY C:\DNLDSTUF\*.* C:\MEDVSN<Enter>.
4. Verify that the following lines are present at the very bottom of the
CONFIG.SYS file. Add them if necessary:
DEVICE=C:\MEDVSN\MCAM950.SYS
DEVICE=C:\MEDVSN\FDCD.SYS /I /D:MVCD005
5. The SCSI host adapter uses an 8k base memory address range. Exclude this
range on your EMM386.EXE line. Here is the line with the exclusion using
the default base memory range of CA00 through CBFF:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM 1024 X=CA00-CBFF
6. Verify that this line is present in AUTOEXEC.BAT, usually as the first
line:
C:\DOS\MSCDEX.EXE /M:10 /D:MVCD005
7. Reboot your system.
