1. DISK CONTENTS
This disk contains the following main programs:
SETUP.EXE (Installation Program)
HSERIAL.EXE (High Speed Serial Utility)
EPRCPO.EXE (Remote Control Panel Utility)
SETUP.EXE installs the utility programs. Installation involoves these
three steps:
* Copying and configuring the high speed serial utility
* Copying and configuring the remote control panel utility
* Modifying your AUTOEXEC.BAT file
HSERIAL.EXE adjusts your computer's RS-232C interface to run at a higher
communication speed than an ordinary RS-232C interface.
EPRCPO.EXE lets you set the printer's SelecType functions from your
computer's screen.
2. ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTED
Computer : IBM PC/AT or compatibles with an 80286 CPU or higher
System : MS-DOS version 3.30 or later
Display : VGA monitor
Memory : At least 440 KB of available memory
Cable : An EPSON certified parallel or serial cable
* Also, the printer and computer must be directly connected (these
utilities will not operate on network printers). EPSON does not
guarantee the use of any other cables or re-routed connections through
switch boxes, etc.
A DOS compatible mouse (version 7.04 or later) is supported by the remote
control panel. If you prefer to use a mouse, install the mouse driver
before you start the remote control panel utility.
3. SETUP
Insert the disk into the floppy drive and set the floppy drive to be the
current drive (for example a:\ for floppy drive A). Then type SETUP and
press Enter. The setup program starts, and after that the following
instructions are shown on the computer screen.
4. HIGH SPEED SERIAL UTILITY
[Usage]
Type the following from the DOS command line.
HSERIAL /P=n /B=m [/?]
[Switch]
/P : Specifies the COMn port (n = 1 or 2)
/B : Specifies the baud rate in bps (m = 3, 6, 12, 24,
48, 96, 192, 384, or 576; units are hundreds)
/? : Help
[example]
HSERIAL /P=1 /B=384
Above command line specifies the COM1 port and a baud rate of 38,400
bps.
Interface protocol is always set to the following:
Hand shake : DTR/DSR
Data bits : 8 bits
Parity : None
Stop bits : 1 bit
Note: Due to hardware limitations, some PC-s or optional I/F card may
not support high-speed settings.
5. REMOTE CONTROL PANEL UTILITY
[Usage]
Type the following from the DOS command line.
EPRCPO
* The printer's BI-D setting in the SelecType Parallel B menu must be set
to ON when you use the parallel B interface for the connection.
* If you are using the serial interface, the parameters of both the
printer and the HSERIAL.EXE utility must match.
