  9. Please note that you have been provided with an Alpha version of our Viper 
  10. Windows 95 driver.  By using this driver, you have accepted responsibility
  11. for any issues that may develop with your computer system once you have
  12. installed this driver.

  14. Please note the known driver limitations in this document.
  15.  
  16. If you experience any problems or difficulties while using this driver, please
  17. complete the problem report (PROBLEM.TXT)  located on this disk. You may fax
  18. the problem report (Attention:  Technical Support - Alpha Viper Windows 95
  19. driver) to 408-325-7171,  mail it to 2880 Junction Ave., San Jose, CA 95134
  20. or e-mail this document to any of Diamond's on-line services.  Please do NOT
  21. call Diamond's Technical Support for difficulties you encounter.  Technical
  22. Support will not offer direct support for this Alpha driver.

  25. *  Driver Description
  26.  
  27.        This is a non-accelerated Windows 95 Display Driver for the Vipers 
  28.        series.  All configurations, all pixel depths, all resolutions, and
  29.        virtualization are supported.

  32. Driver Installation Procedure :
  33.  
  34. - A - 
  35. (If you are Installing Windows95 for the first time)
  36.  
  37. 1. If you have a PCI-bus Display Adapter the Plug&Play manager will recognize
  38.    the Weitek Chipset and during installation you may be asked to select the
  39.    drivers for your display card (If not asked then choose VGA and refer to
  40.    the next Procedure). There is usually a list of several driver installation
  41.    options, including buttons for "Default", "Standard VGA" etc.

  43. 2. Choose the "Manufacturer Supplied Drivers" option in the window and then
  44.    the Have Disk button. Insert the diskette containing the Viper Drivers
  45.    (e.g. the diskette in A: drive) and enter the location of the driver
  46.    diskette e.g. A:\ (if the diskette is in that drive)
  47.  
  48. 3. Choose the appropriate option that matches the description of the card in
  49.    your system and click on OK.
  50.  
  51. After installation you can return to the Display Settings window where you can
  52. select your preferred resolution and color depth.

  58. 1. Open the Control Panel folder and choose the Display Icon or, using the
  59.    mouse, right-click on an empty space in the main Desktop Window and choose
  60.    Properties.
  61.  
  62. 2. Click on the tabbed Windows titled Settings and then click on the button
  63.    Change Display Type.
  64.  
  65. 3. You should first select the Monitor Model to match your system if this is
  66.    already done skip to the next step.
  67.  
  68. 4. Click on the Change button in the Adapter Type window and then the Have
  69.    Disk button.

  71. Insert the diskette containing the Viper Pro Video/SE Windows 95 Drivers
  72. (e.g. the diskette in A: drive) and enter the location of the driver diskette
  73. e.g. A:\ (if the diskette is in that drive)

  75. 5. Choose the appropriate option that matches the description of the card in
  76.    your system and Click on OK.

  78. The drivers will be installed and you will be returned to the main Settings
  79. window where you can select your preferred resolution and color depth. After
  80. you have selected a mode you will be asked if System can be restarted.

  82. Restart the system and enjoy !

  85. Using the WeitekCPLX utility :
  86.  
  87. After system restarts, and the next time you open the Display Properties
  88. window from Control Panel (or by right-clicking over an empty spot on the
  89. Desktop and selecting Properties) you can enter the utility by choosing the
  90. window tab titled WeitekPower.
  91.  
  92. This is the DisplayProperties Control Panel Extension (CPLX) for supporting
  93. the Viper Pro Video/SE Windows95 Display Drivers. Using this utility you can
  94. select a prefered Refresh Rate, Monitor Sync and adjust Monitor Alignment,
  95. dynamically changing the Size and/or the Postion of the visible screen.
  96. Additionally you can change the default settings of your card to improve
  97. performance in certain application types, or enable the special features of
  98. your card.

  100. Context Sensitive help is supplied through-out this utility.  You can get
  101. pop-up help on any control, or setting, by right-clicking with the mouse on
  102. that item.  Additionally Windows95 also provides a Help Tool, the "?" button
  103. at the top right of the window. Click this button and then select the control
  104. that you wish to learn more about.
