  7. -------------
  8. This is version 4.02.268 of the Diamond GT Windows 95 Drivers disk, with
  9. InControl Tools 95 version 4.02.147.  This driver currently supports the
  10. following Diamond display adapters:
  11.  
  12.         Stealth SE
  13.         Stealth 64 VRAM
  14.         Stealth64 Graphics 2000 series
  15.         Stealth64 Video 2000 series
  16.         Stealth64 Video 2001 series
  17.         Stealth64 Video 3000 series

  19.  
  20. Windows 95 Installation Notes
  21. ------------------------------
  22. 1.  Install the VGA driver for Windows 95.
  23.  
  24.         a.  From Windows 95, select Start, select Settings, select Control
  25.             Panel, then select Display.
  26.  
  27.         b.  Select the Settings tab.
  28.  
  29.         c.  Select Change Display Type.
  30.  
  31.         d.  Select Change... in the Adapter Type section.
  32.  
  33.         e.  Select Show all devices.
  34.  
  35.         f.  Scroll to the top of the Manufacturers window.  Select (Standard
  36.             display types).
  37.  
  38.         g.  Select Standard Display Adapter (VGA), then select OK.
  39.  
  40.         f.  Select Close.
  41.  
  42.         h.  Select Apply.
  43.  
  44.         i.  Windows 95 will ask that the computer be restarted.  Click on Yes to
  45.             restart the computer.
  46.  
  47. 2.  From Windows 95, select Start, then select Run.
  48.  
  49. 3.  Insert the Diamond GT Windows 95 Drivers diskette into your floppy drive.
  50.  
  51. 4.  In the Run dialog box, type in the following:
  52.  
  53.         A:\INSTALL <enter>
  54.  
  55.     Where A is the drive letter of the floppy drive containing the Diamond GT
  56.     Windows 95 Display Drivers / InControl Tools 95 diskette.
  57.  
  58.     The following command line switches can be used with INSTALL:
  59.  
  60.         /f              This forces a Full installation (Diamond GT 
  61.                         display driver and InControl Tools 95).
  62.  
  63.         /m              This forces a Minimal installation (Diamond GT
  64.                         display driver only).
  65.  
  66.         /d"drive:\path" This installs InControl Tools 95 into drive:\path. Note
  67.                         that the quotes around the drive and path are
  68.                         required, and that either the /f or /m must be used
  69.                         in conjunction with this switch.
  70.  
  71.         /r              This forces a system reboot after installation.  Note
  72.                         that either the /f or /m switches must be used in
  73.                         conjunction with this switch.
  74.  
  75.         /nr             This prevents a system reboot after installation.
  76.                         Note that either the /f or /m switches must be
  77.                         used in conjunction with this switch.
  78.  
  79.         uninstall       This will completely uninstall the Diamond GT display
  80.                         driver and InControl Tools 95.
  81.  
  82. 5.  From the Diamond Setup dialog box, select Next.
  83.  
  84. 6.  From the Hardware Check dialog box, select Next.
  85.  
  86. 7.  A dialog box will appear containing the path where InControl Tools 95 
  87.     will be installed.  The default path is:
  88.  
  89.         C:\Program Files\Diamond
  90.  
  91.     Select Next, or change the path as necessary.
  92.  
  93. 8.  The next dialog box selects the installation type.  There are three
  94.     installation types, Minimal, Full, and Custom.  They are defined as
  95.     follows:
  96.  
  97.          Minimal:  This will install only the Diamond GT display driver.
  98.  
  99.          Full:     This will install both the Diamond GT display driver
  100.                    and InControl Tools 95.
  101.  
  102.          Custom:   This will allow installation of either the Diamond GT
  103.                    display driver or InControl Tools 95.  At the minimum, 
  104.                    the Diamond GT display driver must be installed during
  105.                    a first-time installation.
  106.  
  107.  
  108. 9.  If Custom was selected in step 8, a dialog box will appear allowing
  109.     selection of various items.  Select the items to be installed by
  110.     clicking on them with the left mouse button.  When finished, click
  111.     Next to continue.
  112.  
  113. 10. At the Select Files to be copied dialog box, click Next to begin the
  114.     file copy process.
  115.  
  116. 11. After the files have been copied, a Finished Installing dialog box will
  117.     appear.  Remove the installation diskette from the floppy drive, then click
  118.     Finish.
  119.  
  120. 12. Windows 95 will ask that the computer be restarted.  Click on Yes to
  121.     restart the computer.

  124. Selecting A User-Defined Monitor
  125. --------------------------------
  126.  
  127. If your monitor is not listed in the Windows 95 monitor list, you can define
  128. your monitor's specifications using the Diamond Monitor Wizard.  To run the
  129. Wizard, follow the directions below:
  130.  
  131. 1.  Double click on the InControl Desktop Manager icon in the tray.
  132.  
  133. 2.  From the Display Properties box, select the Settings tab.
  134.  
  135. 3.  Select Change Display Type.
  136.  
  137. 4.  Select Change next to the Monitor Type box.
  138.  
  139. 5.  Select Show All Devices.
  140.  
  141. 6.  Select (User defined monitor types).  User defined monitor(InControl Tools
  142.     95) should be highlighted in the right side of the dialog box.
  143.  
  144. 7.  Click OK.
  145.  
  146. 8.  Click Wizard.  This will launch the Diamond Monitor Wizard.
  147.  
  148.  
  149. Known Limitations
  150. -----------------
  151. If these drivers are installed from "Have Disk" with the Microsoft S3 driver
  152. already active, the Microsoft driver will overwrite the PCI frame buffer 
  153. address.  The system *MUST* be powered down after installing the Diamond GT 
  154. Windows 95 display driver to remedy this issue.  Note that this issue does not
  155. occur when installing over the Microsoft VGA driver.
  156.  
  157. If these drivers are installed from "Have Disk", the first restart will result
  158. in Windows 95 coming up in Safe Mode.  You will receive an error message
  159. stating that there is a problem with your display settings.  The Display
  160. Properties page will appear.  Select Cancel.  This will let Windows 95 continue
  161. to load in Safe Mode.  From the Start menu or My Computer, select Control Panel,
  162. then select Display, then select Settings.  Change the color depth to 256
  163. colors or greater and restart Windows 95.
  164.  
  165. When installing DirectX applications, a dialog box may appear asking if
  166. you would like to install a certified DirectX driver.  You should select
  167. "No", so that the Diamond GT drivers will not be overwritten.  The Diamond GT
  168. drivers will be DirectX-certified as soon as certification begins by Microsoft.
  169.  
  170. It is recommend that all screen savers be disabled prior to the installation
  171. of the Diamond GT / InControl Tools 95 product set.
  172.  
  173. When the Microsoft Office v.4.3 Office Manager splash screen appears, the
  174. splash screen will be white instead of gray.  Two gray blocks will also appear
  175. in the upper left hand corner of Windows 95.  The gray blocks will disappear
  176. after the splash screen goes away.  This problem is being investigated.
  177.  
  178. MechWarrior 2 for Windows 95 will give a black screen if run in 640x480 mode.
  179. Use 320x200 mode to resolve this issue.  This problem is being investigated.
  180.  
  181. A General Protection Fault may occur by running After Dark for Windows v.3.1.
  182. Upgrading to After Dark v.3.2 will resolve this issue.
  183.  
  184. To view the Online Internet Services, your World Wide Web browser must be
  185. registered with the Windows 95 Registry.
  186.  
  187. Using Microsoft's The Fox and The Bear application in 640x480 16bpp, the
  188. display will not be correct.  This problem is being investigated.
  189.  
  190. On the Stealth64 Video 3000 Series, in some virtual modes, some desktop noise
  191. may appear while panning.  This problem is being investigated.
  192.  
  193. With the Stealth SE, Stealth64 Graphics 2000 series, and the Stealth 64 VRAM,
  194. with a high-color Desktop Theme from the Microsoft Plus! Pack selected, a
  195. single pixel in the center of the screen will be missing.  This issue is being
  196. investigated.
  197.  
  198. If you encounter problems when setting modes, you may want to try one of the
  199. Standard Monitor Types in the Monitor Type dialog of the Display Properties
  200. sheet.
  201.  
  202. With some BIOSes, you may encounter problems switching between the desktop and
  203. 320x200 or 320x240 DirectDraw modes.  This problem is being investigated.  A
  204. BIOS upgrade may address this for you.  See below for more information on
  205. BIOSes.
  206.  
  207. With some BIOSes, the Diamond GT driver may not correctly identify your Diamond
  208. display adapter.  A BIOS upgrade may address this for you.  See below for more
  209. information on BIOSes.
  210.  
  211. The following BIOSes have been tested with the Diamond GT display driver.  If
  212. you have an older BIOS and are encountering difficulties, it is recommended
  213. that you contact Diamond Customer Service at 408-325-7100 (option 3) to get the
  214. current version of the BIOS for your Diamond display adapter:
