  311. QA Notes
  312. ========
  313.  
  314. -VPM is being tested by performing video playback using Margi's & Sigma's
  315.  Reelmagic MPEG cards as clients.  Margi's Capture To Go card is also being
  316.  used to test video playback & capture from different video sources, such as
  317.  VCR's & camcorders. The following resolutions, color depths & vertical
  318.  refresh rates are supported by the VPM Provider:

  330. Known Problems
  331. ==============

  333. -Changing resolution while video playback is runnning may cause GPF.  Make
  334.  sure you turn off any video playback before changing resolution. PDR#3725

  336. -When expansion is enabled, VPM errors will occur when performing a video
  337.  playback on either SimuSCAN or lcd only display using an 800x600 TFT
  338.  panel.
  339.  
  340. -VPM errors will occur when performing video playback on an XGA, 1024x768,
  341.  TFT panels using Margi's MPEG to go card.
  342.  
  343. -Running the MS Game modes demos sometimes causes artifacts to appear on
  344.  screen.

  346. -Toggle between DOS session and PM after setting to some low resolution 
  347.  standard modes causes unpreditable results. 
  348.  
  349. -In 3V notebook system, list of refresh rate options includes those not
  350.  suitable for 3V (ie. 1024x768x256 72Hz). PDR#4045

  352. -Some problems encountered running different MPEG decoders.

  354. -Bandwidth corruption occurs when moving the TV-Tap video window around the
  355.  screen.  PDR#3670

  357. -Downscaling the video window during video playback causes color corruption

  360. -Zooming the video window in TV-Tap causes a GPF.  PDR#3688

  376. Win95 Driver limitation
  377. =======================
  378.  
  379. -Opening multiple video playback windows will cause GPF because there is
  380.  no support for this feature.
  381.  
  382. -In 640x480x256 and with a SVGA panel in non-expanded mode, MVA may be
  383.  enabled during MPEG playback.  But if you use hot-key to turn on expansion,
  384.  MVA is disabled by design and MVA will still be off even after you toggle 
  385.  expansion back to off.  
  386.  
  387. -In TV mode, open any application shows that bottom of the application is
  388.  chopped off because TV uses 640x400 resolution mode. 
  389.  
  390. -Switching from any non-TV display type to TV requires Win95 to restart.
  391.  This is by design.
  392.  
  393. -In TV mode, the Win95 logo screen got shifted down because TV uses 640x400
  394.  resolution mode.

  397. How to Install 754X Win95 Driver
  398. ================================
  399.  
  400. 1.  Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,
  401.     Control Panel.
  402. 2.  Inside the Control Panel group, click on the Display icon to open the
  403.     Display Properties folder and select the Settings tab (right most tab).
  404. 3.  Choose the "Change Display Type..." button and click the "Change..." 
  405.     button in the Adapter Type group.
  406. 4.  Select the "Have Disk..." button and then insert the 754X WIN95 Driver 
  407.     Installation diskette into the floppy drive A: or B: and proceed with 
  408.     OK button.
  409. 5.  "Cirrus Logic 754X (Cirrus)" will be highlighted for a VLB system or 
  410.     select "Cirrus Logic 754X PCI (Cirrus)" for PCI system.
  411. 6. Press OK and files are being copied from the diskette to your computer.
  412. 7. If a "Version Conflict" dialog box pops up and asks "Do you want to keep
  413.    this file?", answer "No".
  414. 8. Press Close again to exit Display Properties folder.
  415. 9. Select Yes to restart computer before the new driver will take effect.

  418. How to change colordepth
  419. ========================
  420.  
  421. 1. Make sure you have installed the Cirrus Logic 754X Win 95' driver (see
  422.    How to Install 754X Win95 Driver section above).
  423. 2. Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,
  424.    Control Panel.
  425. 3. Inside the Control Panel group, click on the Display icon to open the
  426.    Display Properties folder and select the Settings tab.
  427. 4. Click on the pull-down arrow from the Color palette area to select color
  428.    depth.
  429. 5. Choose OK to restart Win95.

  431. How to change resolution
  432. ========================

  434. 1. Make sure you have installed the Cirrus Logic 754X Win 95' driver (see
  435.    How to Install 754X Win95 Driver section above).
  436. 2. Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,

  440. 4. Ajust the sliding bar either to Less or More from the Desktop area.

  444. How to change monitor refresh rate and display type
  445. ===================================================

  447. 1. Make sure you have installed the Cirrus Logic 754X Win 95' driver (see
  448.    How to Install 754X Win95 Driver section above).
  449. 2. Click on the Start box in the lower left corner and proceed to Settings,
  450.    Control Panel.
  451. 3. Inside the Control Panel group, click on the Display icon to open the
  452.    Display Properties folder and select the Refresh tab.
  453. 4. You can change to different refresh rates for different resolution and/or 
  454.    switching to different display type in the Active display area.
