  11. A freeware utility for Windows XP
  12. that enables use of non-Microsoft themes.
  13. NB: Does NOT work with OEM versions of Windows XP atm.!

  15. About:
  16.  
  17. PatchXP is a small program that modifies your current
  18. version of uxtheme.dll so Windows XP can use non-Microsoft themes.
  19. The program is only replacing the dll's at this moment,
  20. and is NOT editing any files on your harddrive.
  21. The program does also have a unpatch option, that replaces the new
  22. uxtheme.dll's with the originials. The Unpatch option does only work
  23. if you have already patched it with this program.
  24.  
  25. Howto:
  26. - First Uninstall any version of StyleXP, or similar program you got.
  27. - Unzip PatchXP.zip to any folder
  28. - Run PatchXP.exe
  29. - Click "Patch" (You will recieve a message saying that the patch was sucessful)
  30. - Click "Reboot"
  31.  
  32. If you want to unpatch, follow the same procedure, only click "Unpatch"
  33. UnPatch will NOT work if you haven't used the Patch option at first!
  34.  
  35. Problems:
  36. If you encounter any problems (patching doesn't appear to work etc.) the try the 
  37. following:
  38. 1. Do a searh for any file named uxtheme.dl_ and rename it/them to uxtheme.bak,
  39. then run PatchXP again (remeber to search for hidden files and folders too).
  40. 2. Remove any present Windows XP CD(s) from your cd-rom(s)
  41. 3. Check if your SP1 build has buildnumber: 1106
