<li class="SmartList1" value="1"><a name="999142"> </a>Select the layer or area of the Canvas you want to tear.</li>

<a name="999146"> </a>If you select an area, Corel Painter automatically creates a new layer when you apply the tear.

<li class="SmartList1" value="2"><a name="999152"> </a>On the Layers palette, click the Dynamic Plug-ins button and choose Tear.</li>
<li class="SmartList1" value="3"><a name="999155"> </a>In the Tear Options dialog box, drag the sliders and set the controls to adjust the tear effect. </li>

<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999157"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Margin</span> describes the width of the tear effect from the edge of the layer.</li>
<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999159"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Strength </span>describes how much of the layer is torn away.</li>
<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999161"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Jaggedness</span> describes the amount of irregularity in torn edges.</li>
<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999163"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Tear Color</span> shows the color used at the edge of the tear. You can change the color if you like. Click the color chip and use the color picker to select a color.</li>
<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999165"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Tear Interior Edges</span> lets you tear interior edges as well. Disable this option to protect interior edges.</li>
<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999167"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Save As Default </span>sets a new default based on the current settings.</li>
<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999168"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Preview</span> enables (checked) and disables (unchecked) Corel Painter from displaying your changes to the image.</li>
<li class="Bulleted2"><a name="999174"> </a><span style="color: #000000; font-style: normal; font-weight: bold; text-decoration: none; text-transform: none; vertical-align: baseline">Off </span>disables (checked) Corel Painter from applying the settings to the image. You can return later and turn the tear back on.</li>
