<a name="1004434"> </a>You can change the orientation of part or all of your image by rotating, scaling to a larger or smaller size, or flipping horizontally or vertically. Images can also be distorted.

<a name="1045704"> </a>Corel Painter applies orientation effects to layers only. Therefore, when you rotate, scale, flip, or distort an image or selection, Corel Painter first converts it to a layer. The image or selection remains a layer until you merge it with the canvas. For more information, refer to <a href="14-Layers8.html#999385">"Merging Layers with the Canvas"</a>.

<a name="1007334"> </a>The Rotate effect lets you rotate all or part of an image.

<a name="999104"> </a>Sometimes the rotated layer does not fit within the canvas area. You can change the canvas size so you can see the entire rotated image. For more information, refer to <a href="03-Basics4.html#1014853">"Resizing the Canvas"</a>.
