  19. I.INSTALLATION
  20.  
  21. 1.  Q. Should I uninstall Oxygen Phone Manager 1.* in order to check OPM II?
  22.     A. Not at all. Previous version of OPM and OPM II don't interfere in any way.
  23.  
  24. 2.  Q. All the phones in "My phones" tree are called as "Unknown". Why?
  25.     A. This is the default alias for every connected phone. In order to discriminate
  26.       between the several phones of the same model you can give a short description
  27.       to each phone. To do that, go to the phone information window and enter the
  28.       new alias.

  50. 1.  Q. I'm trying to connect Nokia 7650 or 3650 and NOTHING HAPPENS!!!
  51.     A. Symbian (3650 and 7650) phones are supported by separate program: Oxygen Phone 
  52.     Manager II for Symbian phones. You can download it from your personal customer's page. 
  53.     You can find the link, login and password in standard letter from our mail-server. Oxygen
  54.     Phone Manager for Symbian phones is not official part of Oxygen Phone Manager II packet-
  55.     it comes as add-on separate and independent program for registered cutomers of common Oxygen
  56.     Phone Manager II.
  57.  
  58. 2.  Q. I have Nokia 7210 (6610, 7250, 6100, 6800) phone. I'm using DKU-5 cable for connection. 
  59.     I cannot establish the connection!
  60.     A. We don't support DKU connectivity yet. For 7210, 6610 and 7250 we support F-Bus cable 
  61.     only with PIN-plug, which connects under the phone's battery.
  62.  
  63. 3.  Q. I have IR-Port from IR-Wave and your program doesn't work!
  64.     A. Unfortunately, there exists a number of problems with driver installation
  65.     for this model; thus we don't guarantee program support for this model.
  66.     Anyhow, we can suggest to do the following: in Control Panel you shoud set the following properties]
  67.     for IR-device:
  68.     INFRARED TRANSCEIVER TYPE -> Sigma Tel 4000
  69.     MIN. TURN-AROUND TIME -> 1.0
  70.     SPEED ENABLE -> 57600
  71.     It may function, but we cannot guarantee the result.
  72.  
  73. 4.  Q. I have MS-Windows NT 4.0 and cannot connect the phone using Infra-Red!
  74.     A. Infra-Red connectivity as well, as USB connectivity is not supported by 
  75.     MS-Windows NT 4.0. We can suggest to use F-Bus cable instead.
  76.  
  77. 5.  Q. I cannot connect 6110, 6130, 6150 or 6190 phones using Infra-Red to your program!
  78.     A. Old 6110, 6130, 6150, 6190 phones had DirectIR protocol. We support only the newer 
  79.     Infra-Red protocol- IRDA. This protocol is used by 6210, 6310, 7110 and all newer Nokia phones.

  81. 6.  Q. I cannot connect 5110, 5130, 5150, 5190, 6110, 6130, 6150, 6190 phones to your program, 
  82.     using original Nokia DLR-3(p) cable. What should I do?
  83.     A. You can connect these phones, using DAU-9p cable only. DLR-3 and DLR-3p cables don't 
  84.     support these models, even if they have the same plug.
  85.  
  86. 7.  Q. I don't have COM (RS-232) serial ports on my PC, only USB ports are available. Is there a chance 
  87.     to connect any phone, using cable?
  88.     A. Certainly! Some USB cables may support USB connectivity. In this case you will need specific 
  89.     driver for COM-port emulation on USB cable.
  90.  
  91. 8.  Q. I cannot establish connection with your program. It searches for the phone and fails after while.
  92.     A. A) Please, check, whether you have set right connection options in Tools -> Options -> Connetion and common. 
  93.     You should choose correct cable type and COM port number. Also, if you have IR-port, you should deselect all 
  94.     COM-ports and select 'Search on IRDA devices' option only.
  95.        B) Please, check, whether no modem is assigned to the COM-port, you've chosen.
  96.        C) Please, check, whether no bluetooth device is assigned to this port.
  97.        D) Please, check, whether you have properly installed infra-red port drivers.
  98.        E) Please, check, whether you are not running any other phone management or Palm synchronization 
  99.        software parallely with Oxygen Phone Manager and whether their connection detect utilities (so-called 'monitors') 
  100.        are not active.
  101.        F) In case of IR-port connection, please, check, whether specific IR file-transfer managers are inactive.
  102.        G) If the problem remains, please, contact or technical support service directly at support@oxygensoftware.com 
  103.        and we will find the cause of the problem as soon, as possible.
  104.  
  105. 9.  Q. I have original Nokia USB cable and I've found even emulation drivers for it, but I still cannot use your software!
  106.     A. Original 5510 USB-to-USB cables were designed for MP3 uploading only. To manage you phonebook, you will need standard 
  107.     F-Bus cable with PIN-plug, which connects under the phone battery the same one, as for 3310 or 3330 phone, for example. 
  108.     Please note, that not all 3310 or 3330 cables are fully compatible with 5510 phone. In this case we suggest to try the 
  109.     connection with trial version of our program: http://www.opm-2.com/download/opm2.zip

  111. 10. Q. I have a laptop and I have re-installed operating system by myself. Now IR connection through built-in IR port is lost. 
  112.     What shall I do?
  113.     A. We don't recommend our respective customers to reinstall operating system by theirselves, because Notebooks 
  114.     and Laptops usually need specific drivers, which could not be found among Internet. Please, contact you hardware or 
  115.     software provider or IT company for professional software tunning for your laptop.
  116.  
  117. 11. Q. I'm using F-Bus cable and operating system, built on NT technology (NT 4.0, 2000, XP), but I cannot connect your
  118.     program still.
  119.     A. Unfortunately, some PC motherboards don't support F-Bus mode under these operating systems,
  120.     but under legacy Win32 (95 OSR-2/98/ME) operating systems only. Anyhow, we suggest
  121.     to test compatibility with the trial version of Oxygen Phone Manager II http://www.opm-2.com/download/opm2.zip
  122.     It may function in case, if you change IRQ assigned to this very COM port to another free one, but, unfortunately, we 
  123.     cannot guarantee the result.

  125. 12. Q. I've bought F-Bus cable and it has neither COM, nor USB plug, but PS-2 one (like
  126.     mouse or keyboard cable). Can I use this for data synchronization?
  127.     A. PS-2 cables are of M-Bus (half duplex, 9600 bit/s max speed) type only and they suit for
  128.     service needs only. Unfortunately, you cannot use this cable anyway for data synchronization
  129.     with any existing program from any manufacturer.
  130.  
  131. 13. Q. I've bought F-bus cable and 8310 (8390, 6510, 6500, 6590) GSM phone. I wonder, how
  132.     can I connect it to the phone?
  133.     A. You should replace the battery, the SIM card, the SIM card's holder. Then you should
  134.     put the SIM card into the cable's holder (or specific slot), then you should put the battery
  135.     there and place the whole construction into the battery slot. It should connect to the
  136.     technological contacts near the SIM card.
  137.  
  138. 14. Q. Do you support Bluetooth connection?
  139.     A. Of course. We support Bluetooth connection for 6310i phones with firmware version 5.50 
  140.     and later. Bluetooth connection for 8910i phones will be available in future versions.

  142. 15. Q. What speed should I set for serial RS-232 COM port for cable connection?
  143.     A. You should set it to 115200 bit/s, as it is required for full-duplex F-Bus connection.
  144.  
  145. 16. Q. I have Sunix/Sigmatel 1800 IR port and your program doesn't communicate with it.
  146.     A. Please, try to install your IR port as 'Sigmatel 400'. It should function now.

  149.  
  150. III.PHONEBOOK
  151.  
  152. 1.  Q. I have Nokia 8210 (5210, 8250) phone and my contacts in CSV format. When I'm 
  153.     importing my contacts from CSV file, each contact splits to several ones and each 
  154.     of these has only one phone. Why is this so?
  155.     A. 8210 phone doesn't support multiple phone numbers per contact. Therefore, if 
  156.     you have checked 'Create new contact for each phone number during import', each 
  157.     phone number will be assigned to separate contact, if you are importing phonebook 
  158.     for the phones, which doesn't support multiple phone numbers per contact.
  159.  
  160. 2.  Q. I cannot add any phone number or change address info. What shall I do?
  161.     A. You should click on the corresponding icon near field's name and then select
  162.     the operation, you wish to perform (Add, delete, edit etc.)
  163.  
  164. 3.  Q. Why synchronization button is not active?
  165.     A. We will implement immediate synchronization function in next versions.
  166.  
  167. 4.  Q. I'd like to develop my own application for phonebook management. Could you offer
  168.     any Delphi component or ActiveX control for this purpose?
  169.     A. Oxygen Phone Manager II- is the only product, we can offer for phonebook management.

  172.  
  173. IV.LOGO, GALLERY AND RINGTONE MANAGEMENT
  174.  
  175. 1.  Q. LogoEditor toolbars are disappeared. Now I have only logo edit screen without any menus and buttons.
  176.     A. It may happen after incorrect program exit. Please close Oxygen Phone Manager II and delete the registry section 
  177.     HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Oxygen\Oxygen Phone Manager II\LogoEditor. After that run the program. All toolbars 
  178.     should be visible.
  179.  
  180. 2.  Q. I have Nokia phone of 1900 GSM standard. I cannot update operator or start-up logo, using your program!
  181.     A. Some cellular network operators may ban operator or startup logo uploading to the phone. Please, contact your 
  182.     cellular network operator to find out, whether such operation is permitted.
  183.  
  184. 3.  Q. Why can't I manage logos and ringtones in Nokia 6800, 7210, 7250, 6610, 3510i, using your program, in Ringtone or 
  185.     Logo editor?
  186.     A. You can manage melodies and pictures using Gallery manager only. Logo Editor and Ringtone Editor support for color 
  187.     logos and midi-melodies will be added in future releases.

  189. 4.  Q. My phone support polyphonic ringtones. How can I upload my polyphonic ringtone to my phone?
  190.     A. There are two ways, how you can upload your ringtones:
  191.  
  192.     A) You can upload your melodies into ringtone list, using 'Phone' -> 'Load file to phone'
  193.     option. This option is available even in the trial version.
  194.     B) You can upload your polyphonic melodies into Gallery, using built-in Gallery Manager (tm). Gallery Manager (tm)
  195.     is available in the full version only.
  196.  
  197. 5.  Q. I've loaded polyphonic ringtone into Ringtones list. Can I delete uploaded ringone
  198.     from this list?
  199.     A. Of course! You can delete this tones, using free program Oxygen Ringtone Workshop: 
  200.     http://www.oxygensoftware.com/products/ORW/index.shtml Please note: current version 0.95 is absolutely free and
  201.     you can freely distribute it, unless you are not permitted to sell it or to modificate it. Version 0.95 doesn't support
  202.     5100 phones yet. 5100's support will be implemented in future versions.

  204. 6.  Q. I've set my colour picture as operator logo, using your Gallery Manager (tm). Now I cannot download any coloured Operator
  205.     Logo using WAP (OTA) or receive it by SMS. 
  206.     A. This is a feature of Nokia's firmware for the newer phones 3510i, 5100, 6100, 6610, 6800, 7210, 7250, 8910i:
  207.     if you will set your custom picture as operator logo using any external program, the phone will switch itself automatically in
  208.     another mode, which enables to upload logos using only external programs. If you wish to upload pictures, using WAP (OTA), you
  209.     should re-update your phone's firmware in official Nokia service-centre.
  210.  
  211. 7.  Q. I cannot assign my custom picture for Caller Group, using Gallery Manager in newer phones
  212.     3510i, 5100, 6100, 6610, 6800, 7210, 7250, 8910i.
  213.     A. Nokia doesn't allow to perform this operation from external program yet. We hope, this will be allowed
  214.     in future firmware versions.

  216. 8.  Q. What picture format should I use for my Gallery?
  217.     A. We support .GIF, .JPG/.JPEG, .BMP and .PNG file formats.
  218.  
  219. 9.  Q. What melody file format should I use for my Gallery?
  220.     A. We support both MIDI (.MID) and common ringtone formats (.RT , DAT) as well. 
  221.  
  222. 10. Q. I'd like to develop my own application for Gallery browsing.

  228. V.SMS MANAGEMENT
  229.  
  230. 1.  Q. I cannot manage my SMS messages with Nokia 7160 phone.
  231.     A. Nokia 7160 phone is supported partially: you can connect it only using InfraRed port and only phonebook and 
  232.     calendar capability is supported.
  233.  
  234. 2.  Q. Can I send polyphonic ringtones, using your program?
  235.     A. We support plain ringtones for SMS messages only. Sending polyphonic ringtones
  236.     will be available in newer versions.
  237.  
  238. 3.  Q. Can I send colour pictures, using SMS?
  239.     A. We support black and white pictures only with SMS technology. Therefore we suggest
  240.     to transfer your pictures into black and white format.
  241.  
  242. 4.  Q. I need to send a lot of SMS messages to multiple recepients (2-3 hundreds or more).
  243.     I don't need other program's functions at all. Can you suggest us some easy way
  244.     to perform this operation?
  245.     A. In this case we can suggest to develop specific SMS application using one of our

  261. 1.  Q. Can I upload JAVA midlets to my 3410 phone, using your program?
  262.     A. Such operation is prohibited by Nokia. You can download JAVA midlets using OTA (WAP) capability only.

  266. VII.COMPATIBILITY
  267.  
  268. 1.  Q. Does your program work with CDMA phones?
  269.     A. Yes. We support CDMA- 1900 MHz  6370 phone (partially) already and we are planning to add 6385 support.

  272.     it satisfies your needs.

  274. 2.  Q. Does your program work with DAMPS phones?
  275.     A. Yes. We support 7160 (partially), 6360, 6340 phone (partially), 6340i phone (partially) already. You can download

  277.     satisfies your needs.

  279. 3.  Q. I have non-Nokia phones. Do you plan to release support for non-Nokia phones?
  280.     A. Of course! We think about such possibility. Unfortunately, we cannot specify any precise terms.

  282. 4.  Q. Do you plan to release your software for MAC-OS or Linux?
  283.     A. This time we support MS-Windows 95-OSR2/98/ME/NT 4.0/2000/XP operating systems only.
  284.     We don't plan to implement MAC-OS, Unix, Linux, Netware, Solaris or Free-BSD support
  285.     in nearest future, but, indeed, we think about such possibility.

  287. 5.  Q. Does your program support 8910i phone?
  288.     A. Sure! It is supported partially: you can connect it only using InfraRed connection. 
  289.     Java management and melodies in Profiles are not supported yet.

  291. 6.  Q. Does your software work with satellite or home DECT phones?
  292.     A. Unfortunately, we don't support these type of handsets. We work, mainly, with Nokia 
  293.     GSM phones.

  295. 7.  Q. Do you plan to release some OS-2 or DOS support?
  296.     A. Unfortunately, we don't have such project in plans, because IBM company had closed OS-2
  297.     project and Microsoft and Novell companies had closed their DOS projects too.

  299. 8.  Q. Does your program support MS-Windows 2003 Server operating system?
  300.     A. We support this operating system unofficially, but we are working on implementing official
  301.     support. If you will encounter any problems with our program under MS-Windows 2003, please,

  306. VIII.ORDERING AND LICENSING

  308. 1.  Q. May I order a cable or InfraRed port from your company?
  309.     A. Unfortunately, we don't sell cables and InfraRed ports worldwide. If you have ordered our program with cable, 
  310.     it could be supplied by one of our official dealers: ShareIt (sales@shareit.com) or RegSoft (sales@regsoft.com).

  312. 2.  Q. Can I get copy of Oxygen Phone Manager II for free?
  313.     A. Certainly! In this case, you should write original, complete and professional article about Oxygen Phone 
  314.     Manager II and all it's features. Please note, that we are free to consider if the article is acceptable or not. 
  315.     Article should be placed on the mainpage of website, deicated to hi-tech and/or mobile communications or, at least, 
  316.     should be easy accessible from this page. Forum, guestbook, chat, IRC, AIM, YIM, MSN, ICQ, Fido or Usenet messages will 
  317.     not be recognized as article as well, as simple translations of our documentation to the native languages.

  319. 3.  Q. Can I resell a copy of Oxygen Phone Manager II?
  320.     A. Sure! In this case you should order 'Commercial usage' license. Please note:
  321.     this option enables to resell you current only once and your license should be
  322.     Business, Company or Corporate.

  324. 4.  Q. What period is specified for trial version?
  325.     A. You can evaluate trial version for 30 days as per License Agreement.
  326.  
  327. 5.  Q. Why the calendar is not enlisted among registered program's features?
  328.     A. The calendar comes in beta-version yet and it is not implemented officially.
  329.     We will support calendar officially in future versions.
  330.  
  331. 6.  Q. Can I get Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian phones for free? I suppose 'Alpha'
  332.     means the same, as Public Domain (or freeware or something like that).
  333.     A. Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian phones is available for all of our beta-testers,
  334.     who sent their requests before March 20 2003. Anyhow, you can monitor developing process
  335.     of Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian phones, visiting its official web-page:
  336.     http://www.opm-2.com/symbian/ . Also we post latest news about development in our
  337.     official mail-list: http://www.oxygensoftware.com/maillist/index.shtml . 'Alpha'
  338.     means, that the program is in test version, but it is not the same as 'Public domain',
  339.     GNU or freeware. If you are using Oxygen Phone Manager II for Symbian phones, you are not
  340.     allowed to distribute it anyway without our written permission or modificate it.

  342. 7.  Q. I work in Forensic department and I need a software, which will do no modifications
  343.     to the phone's data, but should have read-only and export capabilities. Can you provide such
  344.     software?
  345.     A. Sure! Please, visit Oxygen Phone Manager II for Forensic official page for more info:
  346.     http://www.opm-2.com/forensic/ it prohibits any data change in the program or the phone 
  347.     itself. Program allows to read data from the phone, save it to a file or export into any 
  348.     of supported formats. But no data can be changed.

  350. 8.  Q. I wish to become your official dealer.

  353. 9.  Q. I've seen some archives marked as 'Registered license- download for free' or something
  354.     like that on Internet.
  355.     A. Distributing full version (registered license) without our written permission is illegal
  356.     please, report us link on site, which offers such download. If you wish to get Oxygen Phone 
  357.     Manager II for free, please, refer to Q/A VIII:2 in current FAQ.

  359. 10. Q. I want to write an article about your program, but I work for common magazine/journal.
  360.     Can I obtain Oxygen Phone Manager's II license for free?
  361.     A. Sure! Just send us this issue at our postal address in Russia http://www.oxygensoftware.co.uk/about/
  362.     Please, note, that article should be of high professional level and should thoroughly
  363.     describe all Oxygen Phone Manager II functions. The magazine (journal) should be dedicated to
  364.     mobile technologies or hi-tech inventions.

  367.  
  368. IX.GENERAL  TECHNICAL  AND  OTHER  QUESTIONS
  369.  
  370. 1.  Q. I cannot access internet, using your program!
  371.     A. You don't need any special program to access Internet. You should just download standard drivers and 
  372.     install your phone as common modem, using these drivers. Please, note, that you should use IR-connection
  373.     in this case. You won't be able to access Internet, using phones, which doesn't support
  374.     InfraRed IRDA connection.
  375.  
  376. 2.  Q. Can I re-flash my phone, change IMEI or ESN number or firmware version?
  377.     A. We are not authorized to provide such services, therefore we haven't implemented such capabilities in 
  378.     our program. Changing IMEI (for GSM) or ESN (for DAMPS phones) is illegal and is strictly prohibited by 
  379.     international laws. If you wish to update your phone's firmware, we can suggest to contacl local authorized Nokia 
  380.     service centre.

  382. 3.  Q. Can I activate network monitor for newer Nokias beginning with 6310, 3410, 6310i, 3510 etc?
  383.     A. Such operation is prohibited by Nokia. If you need Network Monitor for newer Nokia models, you should contact 
  384.     local Nokia branch and provide official request from your company (which should be cellular network connection or 
  385.     service provider), and corresponding certificate, diplomas and licenses, which should ratify your qualification. 
  386.     As we know, in this case local Nokia branch could change your phone to the same with Network Monitor on for 
  387.     additional price. If you still need Network Monitor and you cannot provide such data, we can recommend to use 
  388.     older models: 6210 or 5130, for example. We do support Network Monitor functionality for these older models.

  390. 4.  Q. Can I unlock my phone, using your software?
  391.     A. Unlocking is illegal in Russia, therefore we don't provide such capability in our program.
  392.  
  393. 5.  Q. Can I manage Nokia Wallet (in 6310i phone, for example) with your program?
  394.     A. This feature is banned by Nokia, due to the high security level, therefore you cannot manage 
  395.     Nokia Wallet using any software.
  396.  
  397. 6.  Q. I've forget my PIN code and typed it wrong three times. Now my phone is block. Can I remove

  404.     prohibited by International laws. If you need to use 2 SIM cards, we can suggest to use
  405.     Benefon Twin phone. It is the only phone, which supports 2 SIM cards officially, therefore there is no need
  406.     of cloning and combinig SIM cards.

  408. 8.  Q. I've read, that I subscribe for technical support and free upgrades for one year, if I will buy your program. 
  409.     What will happen after one year?
  410.     A. You will be able to use our program still after 1 year of support, unless you won't be able to get free 
  411.     upgrades. You can order additional years of support for half of original program's price for each year.

  414.     A. Unfortunately, our program doesn't support this very function.

  416. 10. Q. I've got some strange errormessage, while using your program. How can I make a screenshot of errormessage,

  418.     A. If it is our program's standard errormessage, you shoud just copy the text from it and paste it to the letter
  419.     and send it to our support e-mail address support@opm-2.com. In other case you should press 'PrintScreen' ('PrtScr',
  420.     'PtSc') button, when the error appears- it will copy entire image to clipboard. Then you should paste it in your standard
  421.     editor for images ('Edit' -> 'Paste' or Ctrl + V (Shift + Ins) key sequence). Please, send this screenshot to us.
