  1. For those who wish to create customized versions of this CD:

  3. If you create a file called "config" in this directory which is an
  4. executable script, it will be run at boot time before users are allowed
  5. to log in to the rescue system.  This way, you can add your own custom
  6. configuration steps without needing to modify our init script directly.
  7.  
  8. If you create a file called "init" in this directory which is an
  9. executable script, it will be run at boot time _instead of_ allowing
  10. users to log in to the rescue system.  (After the loopback filesystem
  11. is mounted, it will be run as process ID 1.  Beware that the system
  12. will probably crash if your "init" script ever exits!  You should only
  13. create this script if you want to replace the ability to log in with
  14. some other function.)

  16. These features are not guaranteed to be supported in this form in future
  17. versions.  There will probably still be some way to accomplish these
  18. things, though.

  20. Remember that "executable script" includes Unix file permissions: don't
  21. forget to run "chmod +x" on your script files.
