  42. Installation Files and Disk Sets
  43. =====================================================================

  45.  The Intelligent Updater installation disks or CD contains several  
  46.  executable files. The filenames change from week to week. They show 
  47.  the year (yyyy) the month (mm) and day (dd) that the definitions 
  48.  were released.  They also show the version number (vvv) which represents
  49.  multiple builds

  190.     the date of the definition set. The vvv represents the version

  192.     for the December 31, 2002 definition set. 
  193.  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  194.  3. Start Norton AntiVirus and scan your drive before you reboot
  195.     your computer to activate the new virus definitions and rebuild 
  196.     critical files.
  197.  4. Restart your computer so that Auto-Protect uses the new 
  198.     definitions.

  214. VII. Norton System Center
  215. =====================================================================

  217.  See the Norton System Center documentation for instructions on 
  218.  distributing virus definitions with Central LiveUpdate. To 
  219.  distribute virus definition updates without Central LiveUpdate:
  220.  
  221.  1. Download the latest version of Intelligent Updater (v4.0).
  222.  2. Copy Intelligent Updater to the definitions folder of your NSC 
  223.     installation. By default the location is the 
  224.     \NSC Repository\Products\NAV\Defs\Intel or Alpha folder.
  225.  3. To avoid changing the job every time you update the definitions, 
  226.     rename the Intelligent Updater file as NEWDEFS.EXE and set the 
  227.     job to run this file. Otherwise you will always have to modify 
  228.     the job to use the correct file name.
  229.  4. Start Norton System Center and run your virus definitions rollout 
  230.     job. For more information on setting up NSC jobs, see your NSC
  231.     documentation.

  233.  Whenever you want to distribute updated virus definitions, download 
  234.  a new Intelligent Updater, copy it to the source distribution 
  235.  folder, rename it NEWDEFS.EXE, and rerun the job.

  239. VIII. Norton AntiVirus for NT Server (DEC Alpha)
  240. =====================================================================

  242.  1. Download the file yyyymmdd-vvv-A32.ZIP.
  243.  2. Unzip this file into the Incoming directory: 
  244.     \Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\Incoming 
  245.  3. Norton AntiVirus will automatically begin using the new 
  246.     definitions.

  256.  3. Norton AntiVirus will automatically begin using the new 
  257.     definitions.

  261. X. Norton AntiVirus for Internet Email Gateways

  264.  IMPORTANT! It is highly recommended that you update this product
  265.  With Live Update. If you must use the Intelligent updater then follow
  266.  these instructions carefully.

  268.  1. Go to the Start menu and select "settings\control panel".
  269.     Select "services". Find "NAV for Internet Email Gateways" in the
  270.     service list and select it, then select the "stop" button. Select
  271.     "yes" when asked to confirm.
  272.  2. From a command prompt type "yyyymmdd-vvv-X86.EXE /ieg". Remember 
  273.     the "yyyymmdd" represents the date of the definition set and the 
  274.     "vvv" represents the version number, so it will change. For example, 
  275.     the filename could be 20021231-001-X86.EXE for a December 31, 2002 
  276.     definition set.
  277.  3. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  278.  4. When Intelligent Updater finishes installing the definitions,
  279.     Select the "start" button to start the service again.

  332.     the AS400 server.
  333.  2. Unzip this file to a temporary location on the PC.
  334.  3. From the temporary location on the PC, use FTP to connect to the
  335.     AS400 server.  Log in as QSECOFR, or a user that has *ALLOBJ 
  336.     authority.
  337.  4. Change to Binary transfer mode. 
  338.  5. Put the files into the Incoming directory: 
  339.      /SYMANTEC/VIRUSDEFS/INCOMING
  340.  6. From the AS/400 console issue the command:
  341.      CHGOWN OBJ('/SYMANTEC/VIRUSDEFS/INCOMING/*') NEWOWN(QNOTES)
  342.     to change the owner of all the files to QNOTES.
  343.  7. Norton AntiVirus will automatically begin using the new definitions 
  344.     within 10 minutes.

  348. XIV. Norton AntiVirus 2.5 for Lotus Notes for AS/400 (iSeries)

  351.  1. Download the file is400.zip to a PC that is able to connect to 
  352.     the AS400 server.
  353.  2. Unzip this file to a temporary location on the PC.
  354.  3. From the temporary location on the PC, use FTP to connect to the
  355.     AS400 server.  Log in as QSECOFR, or a user that has *ALLOBJ 
  356.     authority.
  357.  4. Change to Binary transfer mode. 
  358.  5. Put the files into the Incoming directory: 
  359.      /OPT/SYMANTEC/VIRUSDEFS/INCOMING
  360.  6. Norton AntiVirus will automatically begin using the new definitions 
  361.     within 10 minutes.

  365. XV. Norton AntiVirus 2.5 for Lotus Notes for OS/390
  366. =====================================================================
  367.  
  368.  1. Download the file s390.zip to a PC that is able to connect to the
  369.     OS/390 server.
  370.  2. Unzip this file to a temporary location on the PC.
  371.  3. From the temporary location on the PC, use FTP to connect to the 
  372.     OS/390 server.  Log in as your domino server user.
  373.  4. Change to Binary transfer mode. 
  374.  5. Put the files into the Incoming directory: 
  375.     (Your Install Location)/Symantec/virusdefs/incoming
  376.  6. Norton AntiVirus will automatically begin using the new definitions 
  377.     within 10 minutes.

  381. XVI. Installing Virus Definition Files Manually
  382. =====================================================================
  383.  
  384.  If you do not want Intelligent Updater to install the new virus
  385.  definitions for you automatically, you can use the /DUMP command to
  386.  extract the virus definition files, then copy the appropriate files
  387.  to the virus definitions folder. 
  388.  
  389.  Installing Virus Definition Files Manually
  390.  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  391.  1. Copy the Intelligent Updater program (yyyymmdd-vvv-I16.EXE,
  392.     yyyymmdd-vvv-I161.EXE, or yyyymmdd-vvv-I32.EXE or 
  393.     yyyymmdd-vvv-X86.EXE) to an empty, temporary folder.
  394.  2. Launch the Intelligent Updater program using the /DUMP command. 
  395.     For the yyyymmdd-vvv-X86.EXE file, use the /EXTRACT command.
  396.     This will extract all the virus definitions to the folder. For 
  397.     example, type yyyymmdd-vvv-I32.EXE /DUMP to extract the files. Or 
  398.     type yyyymmdd-vvv-X86.EXE /EXTRACT [path] where path represents 
  399.     the current directory. The yyyymmdd represents the date of the 
  400.     definition set. The vvv represents the version number.  For example, 
  401.     the filename could be 20021231-001-I32.EXE for a December 31 
  402.     definition set.
  403.  3. Copy the files to the virus definition folder.  Copy the files to
  404.     this location:
  405.     C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs\Incoming\
  406.  
  407.     NOTE: Copy the file ZDONE.DAT last. This file signals Norton
  408.     AntiVirus that the definition set has been completely loaded. If
  409.     it is not loaded last, it may cause errors.

  507. The Virus Definitions CD contains the following files. We have
  508. separated them into various directories which are listed below.

  510. 1. All of the Intelligent Updater packages.

  512. \VIRUSDEF\ALPHA               yyyymmdd-vvv-A32.ZIP Dec Alpha Definitions 
  513.                               .ZIP file. Unzip the contents of this file
  514.                               into \Program files\Common Files\
