- WindowBlinds 2.2 Build 923 [June 2001]
- news://news.stardock.com/stardock.windowblinds
- Shareware version
-
- A component of ObjectDesktop.net
- ------------------------------------------------------
-
- Thank you for your interest in WindowBlinds!
-
- If this is the first time you have used
- WindowBlinds, welcome to a new way to customize
- your OS. We are pleased you've purchased a
- copy of WindowBlinds and we look forward to
- your comments and suggestions.
-
- A note on drivers and compatibility
- -----------------------------------
-
- WindowBlinds has been designed and tested to
- be as compatible with with thousands of applications
- and pieces of hardware available. Its memory load
- is quite low (unless you are using complex skins
- with lots of animation) and any oddities with
- specific apps can generally be worked around
- quickly (see the Troubleshooting section of the
- included help file for more information).
-
- Video drivers are perhaps the single most important
- area of your system that is stressed by WindowBlinds.
- Please make sure you have the latest driver from
- your video card manufacturer if you experience
- graphics oddities when running WindowBlinds.
-
- Sometimes, other software on your system may
- potentially introduce difficulties that can be
- worked around. For instance, if you are using
- Logitech's Immersion Desktop software (with their
- iFeel mice), you should have it load via a shortcut
- in your Startup folder rather than from the registry.
- This is only needed if you are experiencing the
- min/max/close buttons in apps not working when
- WindowBlinds and Immersion Desktop are loaded.
-
- If your buttons are corrupted when using the
- latest Detonator drivers from nVidia, please
- check with nVidia for a later driver update
- for Windows 2000.
-
- If you experience any difficulties running
- Freecell on Windows 9x with ATI Radeon cards,
- there is a conflict with the ATI Desktop
- software that can be worked around by
- loading WindowBlinds before the DESK98.EXE
- executable for ATI.
-
- Documentation and WindowBlinds evaluation
- -----------------------------------------
-
-
- Be sure to read the included documentation (in
- the help file) for details on using
- WindowBlinds, tips and tricks, where to
- download additional skins, etc. As of this
- date, there are over 1200 skins available
- online!
-
- This shareware version of WindowBlinds is freely
- available for your evaluation, but support for
- skinning scrollbars, progress bars, tab controls,
- and colorizing skins has been disabled. Registration
- will allow access to an enhanced build of WindowBlinds
- with these features active.
-
- Thanks for your interest in WindowBlinds!
-

- WindowBlinds has Internet integration which provides you with some
- really neat features such as the ability to download the most
- popular skin, get a skin of the week and receive interactive updates.
-
- In order to do this, WindowBlinds sends some data about your
- system such as:
- + What skin you are running
- + What OS you are running
- + Your WindowBlinds UserID.
-
- It is not our intention to violate any sense of privacy someone has.
- If these pieces of information are deemed confidential by you for
- some reason, you can disable the Internet features by right
- clicking on the icon in the system tray and selecting the
- Internet Integration window.
