  11. WindowBlinds, welcome to a new way to customize
  12. your OS. We are pleased you've purchased a
  13. copy of WindowBlinds and we look forward to

  16. A note on drivers and compatibility
  17. -----------------------------------
  18.  
  19. WindowBlinds has been designed and tested to
  20. be as compatible with with thousands of applications
  21. and pieces of hardware available. Its memory load
  22. is quite low (unless you are using complex skins
  23. with lots of animation) and any oddities with
  24. specific apps can generally be worked around
  25. quickly (see the Troubleshooting section of the
  26. included help file for more information).
  27.  
  28. Video drivers are perhaps the single most important
  29. area of your system that is stressed by WindowBlinds.
  30. Please make sure you have the latest driver from
  31. your video card manufacturer if you experience
  32. graphics oddities when running WindowBlinds.
  33.  
  34. Sometimes, other software on your system may
  35. potentially introduce difficulties that can be
  36. worked around. For instance, if you are using
  37. Logitech's Immersion Desktop software (with their
  38. iFeel mice), you should have it load via a shortcut
  39. in your Startup folder rather than from the registry.
  40. This is only needed if you are experiencing the
  41. min/max/close buttons in apps not working when
  42. WindowBlinds and Immersion Desktop are loaded.

  44. If your buttons are corrupted when using the
  45. latest Detonator drivers from nVidia, please
  46. check with nVidia for a later driver update
  47. for Windows 2000.
  48.  
  49. If you experience any difficulties running
  50. Freecell on Windows 9x with ATI Radeon cards,
  51. there is a conflict with the ATI Desktop
  52. software that can be worked around by
  53. loading WindowBlinds before the DESK98.EXE
  54. executable for ATI.

  56. Documentation and WindowBlinds evaluation

  60. Be sure to read the included documentation (in
  61. the help file) for details on using
  62. WindowBlinds, tips and tricks, where to
  63. download additional skins, etc. As of this
  64. date, there are over 1200 skins available
  65. online!

  67. This shareware version of WindowBlinds is freely
  68. available for your evaluation, but support for
  69. skinning scrollbars, progress bars, tab controls,
  70. and colorizing skins has been disabled. Registration
  71. will allow access to an enhanced build of WindowBlinds
  72. with these features active.

  92. Creating your own skins
  93. -----------------------

  95. If you are interested in making your own skins, check
  96. out the links for SkinStudio in the Object Desktop
  97. folder (in your WindowBlinds folder). A tutorial is
  98. also online on the website.

  101. Privacy
  102. -------
  103. WindowBlinds has Internet integration which provides you with some
  104. really neat features such as the ability to download the most
  105. popular skin, get a skin of the week and receive interactive updates.

  107. In order to do this, WindowBlinds sends some data about your
  108. system such as:
  109. + What skin you are running
  110. + What OS you are running
  111. + Your WindowBlinds UserID.
  112.  
  113. It is not our intention to violate any sense of privacy someone has.
  114. If these pieces of information are deemed confidential by you for
  115. some reason, you can disable the Internet features by right
  116. clicking on the icon in the system tray and selecting the
  117. Internet Integration window.
