  23.   The DivX(tm) codec v4.01 is the latest and greatest release of DivX,
  24.   the best compression technology for high-resolution movies.  The DivX
  25.   codec (short for COmpression-DECompression) is becoming the standard
  26.   for high quality video over IP networks because it hits the sweet spot
  27.   between superior visual quality and small file size. With a broadband
  28.   connection, you can download a full-length feature film in the time it
  29.   takes to have a pizza delivered!

  31.   THIS INSTALLER WILL _NOT_ INSTALL THE PLAYA. IF YOU WANT THE PLAYA,
  32.   YOU SHOULD VISIT DIVX.COM AND DOWNLOAD THE FULL DIVX 4.0 INSTALLER.

  35. Installation instructions
  36. -------------------------

  38.   To install the DivX codec, you should follow the following simple steps:
  39.  
  40.   1. Copy the installer program (DivX4CodecInstaller.exe) to a location on 
  41.      your hard drive (e.g., C:\temp).  
  42.   2. Run the installer program by double-clicking on the
  43.      deainstaller.exe icon.  
  44.   3. Follow the instructions of the installer program to install the
  45.      DivX Codec.  
  46.   4. Done! The CODEC should be installed in your Systems directory.

  48.   **What files are installed?**: The DivX Codec installer will install the
  49.   following files on your system:
  50.   
  51. * divx.dll             (DivX Codec) 
  52. * divxdec.ax        (DivX Decoder Filter) 
  53. * Help.chm            (DivX Help File)
  54. * README.txt        (This README file.)
  55. * License.txt        (License agreement for the CODEC.)

  57.   **Uninstalling the DivX Codec**: To remove the DivX Codec from your
  58.   system, you should use the "Add/Remove Programs" control panel in
  59.   Windows. To this by selecting "Start -> Settings -> Control Panel ->
  60.   Add/Remove Programs" from the Windows Start menu. In the listbox that
  61.   is presented to you, choose "DivX 4.0 Codec" and click "remove."

  102.   1500-2000 kbps.
  103. * Decoder was crashing in some cases on Pentium II / Celeron machines (
  104.   a few SSE instructions were accidentally put into MMX YUV->RGB

  106. * Decoder was crashing with postproc level 6 or 7 and 16*N < height <=
  107.   16*N+8.
  108. * Fixed one obscure DivX 3.x decoder incompatibility issue.

  111. * There was a parameter in encoder settings, which was called

  115.   duplicating paragraph, written in slightly different ways.
  116. * 'About' dialog box of the codec showed an unreadable character after
  117.   the word 'DivX'. On machines with installed Russian it is a 'TM' sign,
  118.   but there are lots of machines out there which do not have Russian
  119.   fonts :-)
