  11. "history.txt" - this is the most important file to look at,
  12. especially if you are upgrading from a previous version.
  13. New users can also find this file helpful, as it contains
  14. information about *all* KeyNote features added since the
  15. program was first released.

  17. "bugs.txt" - list of known bugs and limitations of the program.
  18. Windows NT and Windows 2000/ME users: you MUST read this file!
  19.  
  20. "sample.knt" - this file is opened automatically when you
  21. start KeyNote for the first time. It contains many tips,
  22. features, keyboard shortcuts, and showcases some of KeyNote's
  23. capabilities. DO NOT USE THIS FILE FOR PERSONAL NOTES! It will
  24. be overwritten when you upgrade Keynote to a new version.

  27. "\DOC" subdirectory, below the directory where you
  28. installed KeyNote. Please browse through these files
  29. before you send a bug report or a support question.

  38. to keep up with the latest news about KeyNote and other
  39. freeware programs I wrote. One is an announcement-only
  40. list (note more than 2 messages a month; information
  41. about major upgrades and additions). The other is an

  51. IMPORTANT FOR USERS UPGRADING VERSION EARLIER THAN 0.90!
  52.  
  53. As of version 0.90, KeyNote supports two major new features:
  54. encrypting the KeyNote files and creating Tree-type notes.
  55. These features are incompatible with any previous release
  56. of KeyNote. Therefore, encrypted files or files which contain
  57. Tree-type notes cannot be opened using any version of KeyNote
  58. earlier than 0.90. However, any file that does NOT use these
  59. features will be automatically saved in a format that is
  60. compatible with earlier releases of KeyNote.

  64. IMPORTANT FOR USERS UPGRADING VERSION EARLIER THAN 0.85!
  65.  
  66. If you have used a version of KeyNote earlier than 0.85,
  67. please note that the format of the .KNT file has been
  68. sightly modified. The new format allows files to be opened
  69. faster. This version of KeyNote can open old-format files
  70. created in previous versions of KeyNote, so you will NOT
  71. lose any of your data. However, older versions of KeyNote
  72. CANNOT read the new file format.

  74. If you want KeyNote to keep saving your files using the old
  75. format (to be compatible with previous versions), you can
  76. start KeyNote with the
  77.     /oldfmt
  78. command-line switch, or change the line in "keynote.ini" file:
  79.     UseOldFileFormat=0
  80. to
  81.     UseOldFileFormat=1
  82. (KeyNote must not be running while you are editing the INI file.)
