  4. SILENT INSTALL
  5.  
  6. The InstallShield (TM) installation allows you the option of installing without 
  7. user intervention. This can be particularily useful on networks with many 
  8. workstations and at educational facilities. Follow the steps below to customise
  9. and implement your silent installation.
  10.  
  11. 1    Create a response file for your silent installation; run: 
  12.         
  13.         setup -r -f1<path\response_file>.iss
  14.     
  15.     Install the software the way you want it installed when you do the 
  16.     silent install. A response file will be created. You may wish to 
  17.     uninstall after saving your response file.
  18.  
  19. 2    Copy the setup files and response file to an accessable location.
  20.  
  21. 3    Run:
  22.  
  23.         setup -s -f1<path\response_file>.iss -f2<path\log_file>.log
  24.  
  25.     The install will procede automatically.
  26.  
  27. 4    View the log file to see if the installation was successful.
