  8. If you are running the program under WindowsNT please follow the
  9. instructions below to install the GIVIO.SYS driver. This is required
  10. in order to allow Mimic to directly communicate with the radio card!

  12. FM Radio functions have not been completely tested under Windows NT.

  17. Using the GIVEIO.SYS driver with Windows NT
  18. -------------------------------------------

  20.     GIVEIO.SYS was  authored by Dale Roberts.   The source for this program
  21.     can be found  on  many  web  sites  under  the  archive  file  name  of
  22.     DIRECTIO.ZIP.
  23.  
  24.     GIVEIO.SYS allows NT  applications to  access I/O  ports directly.   It
  25.     should be used with some caution.

  27.     The first  step to using GIVEIO.SYS  is to load the  driver.  NT allows
  28.     dynamic  loading of device  drivers.  The  program INSTDRV.EXE included
  29.     with this package  will perform the  dynamic loading for  you.  INSTDRV
  30.     runs from a command prompt window and takes two command line arguments.
  31.     The  first argument is the  name of the driver,  GIVEIO, and the second
  32.     argument is the  path the  driver file,  GIVEIO.SYS.   The path  of the
  33.     driver file is dependent  on  where  you  place  the  files  from  this
  34.     package.  For example, if you place the contents of this package into a
  35.     directory called C:\CBI_IO, your command line to load the GIVEIO driver
  36.     would be as follows,

  38.     INSTDRV GIVEIO C:\CBI_IO\GIVEIO.SYS

  40.     You will  need to run this each time  you boot your machine, unless you
  41.     direct NT to automatically  load the  driver at  boot time  through the
  42.     DRIVERS icon in the Control Panel.

  44.     Once the GIVEIO device driver is properly installed in your system, you
  45.     will be able to successfully run the TSTIO.EXE program included in this
  46.     package.
