  1. BIOS Upgrade Instructions
  2. -------------------------

  4. The temporary directory should contain the following four files:
  5.     README {this file}
  6.     BIOS.EXE 
  7.     LICENSE.TXT 
  8.     MK_BOOTZ.EXE 
  9.  
  10. If all these files are not present, try extracting the downloaded
  11. BIOS file again.

  14. Upgrading to the Latest BIOS
  15. -----------------------------

  18. 1.  Be sure to verify that the correct BIOS has been downloaded.  
  19. 2.  Enter BIOS SETUP upon boot up by pressing F2. 
  20. 3.  Write down all settings that are unique to the system. These
  21.     settings will be needed later to reconfigure the system.
  22.         Press F10 to exit BIOS.
  23. 4.  Create a bootable floppy diskette.
  24.     a.    If you have an unformatted floppy, place the floppy in 
  25.     drive a: and type "format a: /s".
  26.     b.    If you have a formatted floppy, place the floppy in drive a: 
  27.     and type "sys a:".
  28.     c.    Extract æbios.exeÆ to the bootable floppy:
  29.     i.   In a DOS environment: Type "bios a:".
  30.     ii.  In a non-DOS environment: Create a new directory. 
  31.          Move 'bios.exe' into the directory. Double click on 
  32.          'bios.exe'. Copy all the files in the directory 
  33.          except 'bios.exe' to the bootable floppy.
  34. 5.  Place the bootable floppy containing the new BIOS into drive 
  35.     a: of the system to be upgraded and boot the system.
  36. 6.  When prompted that the BIOS has been successfully loaded, 
  37.     remove the bootable floppy and reboot the system.
  38. 7.  In an AMI environment a checksum error will occur, press F1 
  39.         to enter setup.
  40.     In a Phoenix environment, press F2 to enter setup.
  41. 8.  On the first screen within SETUP, check the BIOS version to 
  42.     ensure that it is the new version.
  43. 9.  In SETUP load the default values, by pressing the F9 key.
  44.      If you do not set the values back to defaults the system 
  45.      may function erratically.
  46. 10.  If the system has unique settings, re-enter those settings 
  47.     now. Press F10 to save the values and exit Setup.
