Since there is an average of 500 new viruses discovered every month, we strongly suggest that you update your virus pattern files regularly. We update our virus pattern files weekly, usually Tuesday.
If a particularly damaging virus is discovered "in the wild", we will issue a new pattern file as soon as we have a detection routine for that virus.
Automatic Update
Note: New technology built into the PC-cillin product line has eliminated the need for separate scan engine and pattern file updates. Please use the following steps to completely update your PC-cillin program.
1. Start your Internet connection as you normally do
2. Once connected to the Internet, click on your windows "Start" button
3. Click on "Programs" and choose "Trend PC-cillin" from the menu
4. Click on "Trend PC-cillin" to start the main PC-cillin program
5. Locate the slide bar on the left hand side of your PC-cillin screen and click on "Update"
6. Double-click on the "Update Now" button and the Update Wizard screen will appear
7. Select "from Internet" and click the "Next" button at the bottom right of your screen to activate the PC-cillin update feature.
Manual Update
Note: If for any reason you cannot update PC-cillin by clicking the "Update Now" button, you can manually download and install the latest pattern file and scan engine by doing the following:
To manually update the pattern file:

Download the latest pattern file.
Unzip the file and place it in your PC-cillin main directory located under c:\program files\trend pc-cillin.
Restart your computer now or continue to the next procedure if you are also updating your scan engine at this time.
