  25.   WillowPHONE lets you make and receive telephone calls using
  26.   your PC and compatible voice-capable modems.

  55. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  58.   * Will my modem work with WillowPHONE?
  59.  
  60.     It will probably work if: 
  61.  
  62.     - It is a voice modem (it should say so in your modem
  63.       documentation), and
  64.     - It comes with a Unimodem/V driver (actually an INF file
  65.       that works with the Unimodem/V driver that comes with
  66.       Windows 95). Unimodem/V is Microsoft's implementation
  67.       of TAPI, the Windows 95 standard for how programs
  68.       communicate with voice modems. (Note that a Unimodem
  69.       driver is not enough; it needs Unimodem/V.)
  70.  
  71.     If it doesn't work with your modem, please contact your
  72.     modem manufacturer to see if it offers Unimodem/V
  73.     drivers. These may be downloaded from the modem maker's
  74.     web site.

  76.   * Why can't I hear the phone ring?
  77.  
  78.     It could be any of these:
  79.  
  80.     - The WillowPHONE flip phone is not launched and running
  81.       (it must be running to work)
  82.     - Your audio output is muted or turned down too low
  83.     - Another program is playing audio which uses or
  84.       conflicts with your wave driver, so the phone is
  85.       blocked from playing the ring sound wave file
  86.     - Your sound card wave audio is not working in general
  87.  
  88.   * Can I get Caller ID information for incoming calls using
  89.     WillowPHONE?
  90.  
  91.     Yes, provided:
  92.  
  93.     - You have arranged with your local phone company to
  94.       enable the Caller ID service on the phone line you have
  95.       plugged into your voice modem
  96.     - Your modem supports Caller ID (almost all modern voice
  97.       modems do)
  98.     - The person calling you has not blocked his ID from
  99.       being sent when he calls you
  100.  
  101.   * What do I do if I hear feedback or squealing when I talk 
  102.     on the speakerphone?
  103.  
  104.     This is a function of your hardware, not your software. It
  105.     happens when sound coming out of your speakers enters your
  106.     microphone. To reduce it, you could:
  107.  
  108.     - Move the speakers and microphone farther apart
  109.     - Turn down the speaker output volume
  110.     - Turn down the microphone input level
  111.     - Use a phone (handset) plugged into the modem instead of
  112.       using the speakers and microphone
  113.  
  114.   * What can I do to record telephone calls?
  115.  
  116.     This depends on your hardware: 
  117.  
  118.     - If your modem and sound card are on the same card or
  119.       are somehow internally cabled together, you might be
  120.       able to just select the telephone line as the input
  121.       (recording) device for your sound card on your system's
  122.       mixer component. If so, select that and then record
  123.       normally using a capable recording program of your
  124.       choice or Microsoft's built-in recorder.
  125.     - If your modem and sound card are not physically
  126.       connected in this way, you could try doing it yourself.
  127.       You could try using a cable to plug your modem's
  128.       speaker output connector into your sound card's LINE IN
  129.       connector. Then you could select Line In (or whatever
  130.       it is called on your sound card) as the input
  131.       (recording) device in the your system's mixer
  132.       component, and record normally using a capable
  133.       recording program of your choice or Microsoft's built-in
  134.       recorder.

  136.     For help with this, please consult your hardware
  137.     documentation or provider.

  140. Known Problems
  141. --------------
  142.   As of October 29, 1998:

  144.   Some modems will simply not be compatible with WillowPHONE.
  145.   Please make sure your modem works with the Minimum System
  146.   Requirements indicated above and that it, as well as
  147.   appropriate driver(s), are installed and configured
  148.   correctly. If you are not sure about your modem's
  149.   capabilities and/or features, please contact your modem
  150.   vendor - not us.
  151.  
  152.   As indicated above, some features are only available if you
  153.   have ordered them from your telephone company.

  155.   There are no other known problems at this time.
