  1. COMCTL32.OCX Update Version 5.00.3828
  2. =====================================
  3. A new version of COMCTL32.OCX is now available for Microsoft development
  4. products.  Version 5.00.3828 fixes a couple of problems with the 5.00.3714
  5. and 5.00.3422 versions.
  6.  
  7. To install the new version of COMCTL32.OCX download COMCTLZP.EXE.  This is
  8. a self-extracting zip file that when executed will extract out two files. 
  9. The first file is README.TXT which contains these instructions.  The
  10. second file is COMCTL32.EXE.  This file is a setup program that will
  11. install COMCTL32.OCX and supporting files.
  12.  
  13. Before executing COMCTL32.EXE you must have the following versions of the
  14. Automation system files on your system:
  15.

  18.    OLEAUT32.DLL   2.20.4054 or greater
  19.      COMCAT.DLL   4.71      or greater
  20.    OLEPRO32.DLL   5.00.4055 or greater
  21.    ASYCFILT.DLL   2.20.4056 or greater
  22.     STDOLE2.TLB   2.20.4054 or greater

  24. If you do not have these files you must first download and install them as
  25. documented in the following knowledge base article:

  29. If you have Office 97, Visual Basic 5.0, Visual Studio 97, Internet
  30. Explorer 3.0, or Visual C++ 5.0 you should already have these Automation
  31. system files.

  33. Once you are sure you have the correct Automation system files on you
  34. system you can install COMCTL32.OCX by executing COMCTL32.EXE.  This will
  35. install the following files:

  43. The setup program does not install a license to use COMCTL32.OCX for
  44. development.  You must already have a license installed on your system by
  45. one of the products listed below:

  47.  - Microsoft Visual Basic Learning, Professional, and Enterprise Editions
  48.    for Windows, version 5.0
  49.  - Microsoft Visual Studio 97
  50.  - Microsoft Visual C++, 32-bit Editions, version 5.0
  51.  - Microsoft Office Developer Edition 97
  52.  - Microsoft Visual Basic Professional and Enterprise Editions for
  53.    Windows, version 4.0
