If this is your first time trying Quo Vadis, we're sure you'll appreciate its many advanced features and real-time performance. We hope it will meet or exceed your expectations for high quality Palm OS(TM) software.
This demo is the "real thing". It is not a scaled-down version of the final release. The only exceptions are:
- It will only work with the included map of Bridgeport, Connecticut.
- It contains an expiration date.
- It defaults to a closer initial zoom so as to make the labeling capability more evident to first-time users who may otherwise not realize they can zoom in and out until they read the User Manual.
Getting the User Manual
----------------------------------------------
In order to maximize your understanding and benefit the most from Quo Vadis, we strongly urge you to read the Quo Vadis User Manual. It is available for download or online viewing directly from our website at http://www.marcosoft.com. Once there, follow the Quo Vadis hyperlinks to get to the User Manual web pages. We did not include it in this archive because:
(1) some people already know how to use the program
(2) we wanted to keep the download file size small
(3) it is updated frequently, so it's better if you obtain a recent copy from our web site.
Operating Requirements
----------------------------------------------
See the "Operating Requirements" section in the User Manual for the complete list of requirements for using Quo Vadis, as well as the latest list of supported GPS receivers.
You will need a device that runs the Palm Operating System such as those on the list below (not all may be available at the time you read this):
- US Robotics Pilot 1000 / 5000 (with PalmPilot Professional or higher upgrade)
- US Robotics / 3Com PalmPilot Personal (with PalmPilot Professional or higher upgrade)
- US Robotics / 3Com PalmPilot Professional
- 3Com Palm III
- 3Com Palm IIIe
- 3Com Palm IIIx
- 3Com Palm V
- 3Com Palm VII
- IBM Workpad
- IBM Workpad II
- Qualcomm pdQ 1900
- Qualcomm pdQ 800
- Symbol SPT 1500
Use of a GPS receiver is optional, and lack of one does not limit the usability of the program in any way.
Conflicts With Hackmaster Extensions
----------------------------------------------
Because Quo Vadis draws maps in grayscale, some third-party applications such as Hackmaster hacks may interfere with normal operation. These system extensions modify the default behavior of the operating system in order to draw to the screen when they shouldn't be doing so and may cause crashes. If you are experiencing crashes or "system hangs" and have such hacks enabled, you should try disabling them as they are most likely the cause. Therefore, we cannot guarantee full compatibility with a modified operating system or hardware not specifically endorsed by us or the respective manufacturer as being compatible. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that Quo Vadis won't work on such modified systems.
Installation
----------------------------------------------
The files and folders contained in this demo archive are:
- Read Me (this file)
- QuoVadis.prc
- Bridgeport.pdb
You will need to install the QuoVadis.prc and Bridgeport.pdb files into your organizer. If you don't know how to do this, refer to the documentation that came with your organizer's desktop software, as well as the Quo Vadis User Manual, under the "Installation" section.
