======================== RealUninstall for Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT4 ===========================
========================================== by ╨++ Software Development ===========================
==================================================================================================
=== Before running RealUninstall the first time
You should read this file carefully for optimum usage of RealUninstall 3.0.
This file describes fixes, changes and new features since the last public
release. Before running RealUninstall 3.0, please make sure you have copied
all program files to a special program directory like:
C:\Program Files\RealUninstall. RealUninstall will not install in such a
directory automatically.
=== New features
RealUninstall v3.0 has a few useful and powerful new features:
> Undo feature.
RealUninstall will create a .reg (registry import) file every time you
delete an entry. Double clicking (by Windows' default) on this file is
enough to undo the changes for that entry.
> Automatic refresh.
After an uninstall event RealUninstall updates the applications list.
> Refresh button.
Pressing the refresh button at the right of the copy button will refresh the
applications list.
> Temporary files deletion.
Scheduled cleanup now checks your \Temp subdirectory in your Windows
directory for temporary files. All files except subdirectorys and the
files they contain (for safety reasons) are deleted.
=== Fixes
RealUninstall 1.2 had a few minor missing features, bugs and typo's which
I had to add or change:
> Deleted -A parameter option.
The interface colormode can not be set anymore. The standard (and only)
colors RealUninstall uses, are black for the background and white for
text.
> About changed.
Programming and Distribution changed to Author and Distributor. Added
a User line which displays the name of Windows' registered user.
Deleted all names of the Beta-test team and added them to the Readme
file.
> Changed query dialogs (I).
When RealUninstall displays a query like "Are you sure you want to
delete this entry from the registry?" it displays the event as title.
Like "Delete" instead of "RealUninstall x.x" in previous versions.
> Changed query dialogs (II).
For queries like Delete, the default button is "No". This is a more
more secure way.
> Changed program priority.
The program priority for RealUninstall was changed from realtime to
high. Realtime gave problems on some systems.
> Dynamic Link Library.
Since the undo feature is added, RealUninstall needs a DLL file for
running, vdsio.dll. This file should be placed in RealUninstall's
install directory. When the file is not found, you can easily download
it from the ╨++ website (needs Microsoft Internet Explorer).
> RealUninstall first run.
Changed this dialog text and added a cancel button.
> Improved self-uninstallation.
=== Known problems
When you want to uninstall a program which has a space in the path to the
uninstall program, you can not uninstall this with the uninstall button.
You should use the copy button, select Run from the Start Menu, paste
the complete path to the textbox and press OK. The uninstallation does not
support long file names.
