  8. === Before running RealUninstall the first time
  9. You should read this file carefully for optimum usage of RealUninstall 3.0.
  10. This file describes fixes, changes and new features since the last public
  11. release. Before running RealUninstall 3.0, please make sure you have copied
  12. all program files to a special program directory like:
  13. C:\Program Files\RealUninstall. RealUninstall will not install in such a
  14. directory automatically.

  17. === New features
  18. RealUninstall v3.0 has a few useful and powerful new features:
  19.  
  20.  > Undo feature.
  21.    RealUninstall will create a .reg (registry import) file every time you
  22.    delete an entry. Double clicking (by Windows' default) on this file is
  23.    enough to undo the changes for that entry.
  24.  
  25.  > Automatic refresh.
  26.    After an uninstall event RealUninstall updates the applications list.
  27.  
  28.  > Refresh button.
  29.    Pressing the refresh button at the right of the copy button will refresh the
  30.    applications list.
  31.  
  32.  > Temporary files deletion.
  33.    Scheduled cleanup now checks your \Temp subdirectory in your Windows
  34.    directory for temporary files. All files except subdirectorys and the
  35.    files they contain (for safety reasons) are deleted.

  38. === Fixes
  39. RealUninstall 1.2 had a few minor missing features, bugs and typo's which
  40. I had to add or change:
  41.  
  42.  > Deleted -A parameter option.
  43.    The interface colormode can not be set anymore. The standard (and only)
  44.    colors RealUninstall uses, are black for the background and white for
  45.    text.
  46.  
  47.  > About changed.
  48.    Programming and Distribution changed to Author and Distributor. Added
  49.    a User line which displays the name of Windows' registered user.
  50.    Deleted all names of the Beta-test team and added them to the Readme
  51.    file.
  52.  
  53.  > Changed query dialogs (I).
  54.    When RealUninstall displays a query like "Are you sure you want to
  55.    delete this entry from the registry?" it displays the event as title.
  56.    Like "Delete" instead of "RealUninstall x.x" in previous versions.

  58.  > Changed query dialogs (II).
  59.    For queries like Delete, the default button is "No". This is a more
  60.    more secure way.
  61.  
  62.  > Changed program priority.
  63.    The program priority for RealUninstall was changed from realtime to
  64.    high. Realtime gave problems on some systems.
  65.  
  66.  > Dynamic Link Library.
  67.    Since the undo feature is added, RealUninstall needs a DLL file for
  68.    running, vdsio.dll. This file should be placed in RealUninstall's
  69.    install directory. When the file is not found, you can easily download
  70.    it from the ╨++ website (needs Microsoft Internet Explorer).

  73.    Changed this dialog text and added a cancel button.

  75.  > Improved self-uninstallation.

  78. === Known problems
  79. When you want to uninstall a program which has a space in the path to the
  80. uninstall program, you can not uninstall this with the uninstall button.
  81. You should use the copy button, select Run from the Start Menu, paste
  82. the complete path to the textbox and press OK. The uninstallation does not
  83. support long file names.
