  28. 2. Features
  29. -----------

  31. Scrapbook Plus offers a convenient way to store articles and images
  32. found on the Internet or other electronic media. By using the copy
  33. and paste commands found in Windows,  this information can be
  34. transferred from any application into the program's database. These
  35. articles  and images are then  assigned categories and titles. 
  36. Powerful search, filter, and sorting commands allow quick retrieval
  37. of information for viewing, printing or exporting into other programs.
  38. Scrapbook Plus also has the following features:
  39.  
  40. -A Quick Notes  feature for storing small bits of information, similar
  41. to other Sticky Note programs.
  42.  
  43. -Individual databases for articles,
  44. images  and Quick Notes. Articles can be up to 64K in size.
  45.  
  46. -Full formatting is available for article text.  Font size, color, style,
  47. and alignment are user configurable.
  48.  
  49. -Images can be embedded directly into the database, or linked from the
  50. hard drive. Linked images result in a smaller database size.
  51.  
  52. -Multiple images can be attached to any article. When viewing an article,
  53. clicking an icon will bring up all images attached to that article.
  54.  
  55. -Image preview lets you rapidly view images on your hard disk before 
  56. linking them to the database.

  58. -Powerful search, sorting, and navigation capabilities to find specific
  59. articles and images.

  61. 3. Installation
  62. ----------------

  64. If the program was downloaded from the Internet, all the files will be in
  65. a compressed format. A compression utility such as WinZip or PKunzip must
  66. be used to uncompress the files. These programs are readily available on
  67. the Internet. These programs will also automatically install the program 
  68. by running the setup.exe file. If you are installing the program from 
  69. diskettes, place disk 1 in the drive. Click on the Start button, then Run,
  70. and type a:\setup.exe, where "a" represents the letter of the drive the 
  71. disk is in. Follow the instructions to install the program. The setup 
  72. program will automatically install shortcuts to the program on your start
  73. menu.

  75. 4. Uninstall
  76. ------------

  78. To uninstall the program click on the Start button, then Settings, then
  79. Control Panel, then Add/Remove programs. A window will open showing 
  80. applications installed on your computer. Select Scrapbook Plus then click
  81. on the Remove button. The program will automatically uninstall.

  83. 5. Compact Utility
  84. -------------------

  86. As entries are added and deleted from the database, excess space accumulates
  87. in the database. Compact DB is a utility that compresses the size of the 
  88. scrapbook database "archive.mdb" so that it does not take up as much room 
  89. on the hard drive. The utility reads this file and creates a new database
  90. that is smaller in size. Follow the procedure shown below to compress the
  91. database:

  93. * Ensure that Scrapbook Plus! application is not running.*
  94.  
  95. 1. Make a backup copy of the file "archive.mdb" and place it in a safe 
  96.    location. This file is located in the Scrapbook Plus folder on your
  97.    hard drive.
  98.  
  99. 2. Run the program "Compact.exe" .
  100.  
  101. 3. The program creates a new compressed file "newArchive.mdb".
  102.  
  103. 4. Delete the old file "archive.mdb",  and then rename the new compressed
  104.    file "archive.mdb"
  105.  
  106. 5. Test the application with the new file. If there is a problem retrieve
  107.    the backup copy of "archive.mdb".

  128. Scrapbook Plus! is a shareware program. Shareware is a method of distribution
  129. which allows users to evaluate software before buying, to determine if it
  130. meets their needs. You may access the program a total of 50 times for 
  131. evaluation purposes. After this time the program will not open, and if you
  132. wish to continue to use the program you must buy it.

  134. The price for the registered version of Scrapbook Plus! is $15 US / $20 CAN.
  135. This includes $3 S&H.  To receive the program quicker and save the $3 shipping
  136. and handling charges you may opt to receive the registered file by Email. Just
  137. choose Option B on the order form, leave your Email address, and when I 
  138. receive your payment I will send you the files with instructions on how to 
  139. install them.
