  44.  o Installation and Uninstallation
  45.    --------------------------------
  46.    Make sure you are installing the latest version of HPP, check it at
  47.    the Web address mentioned in the What's new section.

  49.    Installation from hard disk : create a temporary directory and copy
  50.    (or unzip) all the files to that directory. Then run INSTALL.EXE
  51.  
  52.    You will find some additional information in the INSTALL.TXT file.

  54.    The install program also features uninstall options such as:
  55.    delete files, delete directories and delete folders.

  58.  o Upgrading from 1.0 to 2.1

  60.    1.0 registered users may upgrade to 2.1 Pro at no charge, by contacting

  62.    They will be given a new key for HPP 2.1.

  64.    NOTE : When asking this new key, please do not forget to mention your
  65.    License To and License ID. DO NOT SEND your former key.

  70.    Upgrading from HPP 2.0 to HPP 2.1 is free for users who registered HPP 2.0,
  71.    the License-To, License-Id and Key remain unchanged.

  74.  o Evaluation
  75.    -----------
  76.    This software is licensed software. This unregistered version of the
  77.    HomePage Publisher software is provided FOR EVALUATION ONLY.

  79.    The unregistered version of this package is limited to 100 saves and
  80.    contains some other minor limitations that do not prevent you from
  81.    seeing and trying the limited features (e.g. the color wheel and
  82.    spell checking are not fully operational, the rows and columns numbers
  83.    are limited for a table).

  85.    Getting registered will remove those limitations.

  88.  o Registration - Price

  90.    You may register HPP at two prices :

  92.    - HPP 2.1 Entry version at half-price ($49).  This registration will not
  93.      give you access to frame support, and to Publishing either
  94.  
  95.    - HPP 2.1 Pro version at full price ($95) with all the options enabled,
  96.      including frame support and Publishing.

  98.    You may want to upgrade from HPP Entry to HPP Pro.  It will cost $49.

  100.    NOTE : Prices are given in US dollars, they are subject to modification.
  101.       Some providers give prices in local currency.  Contact your local
  102.       provider for further information.  The list of HPP providers and
  103.       instructions for registering may be obtained at the Web address

  115.    provided "AS IS".  Although JBC cannot promise to answer every
  116.    message or fix every defect, we do take user support seriously,
  117.    and will respond to concerns and reported problems as far as possible.

  119.    do not send your key.  You will be given your License ID when
  120.    registering HPP.  You can get the version number by selecting
  121.    Product Information from the help menu.  There is no phone support
  122.    for this version of HomePage Publisher.

  131.    YOU ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO APPLY THE LATEST VIDEO DRIVERS.

  133.    While releasing this new version, we have just been informed that the
  134.    new GRADD drivers, released with Fixpack 5 but not directly included
  135.    in, would fix the problems mentioned below for HPP 2.1, and even for
  136.    HPP 1.0.  Additionaly, the problem is being examined by MATROX and
  137.    ATI technical support departments.

  139.    Please read important information about fixes and/or troubles
  140.    occurring with some video drivers.

  145.    We have at last been able to state as an obvious fact that some quite
  146.    usual APIs Presentation Manager cause some video drivers a lot of trouble.
  147.    Those APIs are being used when displaying transparent images. Until those
  148.    video drivers are fixed, HPP has now available a switch which allows to
  149.    circumvent the problem, you just have to disable display of transparent
  150.    images. In that case, start HPP as follows:
  151.    START HPP.EXE /ti-
  152.  
  153.    Another alternative is to set the SET HPP_OPTIONS=NoTransImage
  154.    environment variable before starting HPP. If you want to get this option
  155.    permanent, you may insert it into your config.sys. If you want to set
  156.    multiple options, they must be separated by a comma.

  160.    Some video cards with HPP cause problems when creating patterns using a
  161.    quite usual API Presentation Manager. These video cards appear to work
  162.    correctly when using VGA drivers. To circumvent this problem, the "Show
  163.    Background Image" option is disabled by default in this version. If you
  164.    want to enable this option, start HPP as follows:
  165.    START HPP.EXE /bi+
  166.  
  167.    Another alternative is to set the SET HPP_OPTIONS=BackgroundImage
  168.    environment variable before starting HPP. If you want to get this option
  169.    permanent, you may insert it into your config.sys. If you want to set

  179.       - OS/2 3.0 or higher.
  180.       - The OS/2 Fonts "Helv", "Tms Rmn" and "Courier" are mandatory.
  181.       - TCP/IP Internet Dialer (Optional, but recommended).

  186.       At least a 486DX4 with 16MB RAM is required.
  187.       A Pentium or Pentium Pro and more main memory is recommended.
  188.       A 386 or a system with 8MB or less memory is an insufficient

  190.       - Display    : VGA minimum (SVGA recommended).
  191.       - RAM       : 16M minimum, 32M recommended.
  192.       - Partition  : HPFS partition. (Optional, but recommended).

  196.       5MB for HomePage Publisher.
