║File Commander/2 READ.ME║
╚════════════════════════╝
File Commander/2 is shareware, NOT free software. You may use it for
up to 30 days free of charge. If you wish to continue using the program after
your trial period is over you must register. Registration costs just A$29
(~US$25) and can be purchased at:
- BMT Micro - USA based but accept orders from almost anywhere with many
different payment options including credit cards.
http://www.bmtmicro.com
- BT Software - Netherlands based, also handle orders from Belgium, Germany,
France and UK via local bank deposit, avoiding the need for credit cards.
http://www.btsoftware.com
- Scandinavian Shareware Registration Service - Payment via EuroCheque or
Giroaccount in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or Finnish currency.
For more details see "Registering" in the manual fc.inf
Installing File Commander/2
═══════════════════════════
To install File Commander/2, you need to place the files:
fc.exe
fc2.cmd
fc.hlp
fc.inf
clipserv.exe
setup.exe
in a suitable directory and run SETUP. The SETUP program simply creates a folder
on the desktop containing objects for the File Commander/2 program, manual and
Read.Me.
If you want to be able to start FC/2 from the command line, this directory
needs to be in your PATH. When you first use 'Save Setup' the file fc.ini
will be written to the same directory.
If for some reason you change the name of the .exe file, you will also need
to change the name of the .hlp and .ini files to match or they will not be
found. The same applies to any .mnu file you create.
For full archive support you will also need to have these programs installed
somewhere on you PATH:
Archive Type Program Package
════════════ ═══════ ═══════
ZIP zip.exe zip22x2.zip
ZIP unzip.exe unz532x2.exe
RAR rar.exe rar204p.exe
LZH lh2.exe lh2_222.zip (rename lh32.exe to lh2.exe)
ACE ace2.exe ace12b.zip
ARJ arj.exe (DOS) arj260.exe
If you don't know where to find any of these, see
http://silk.apana.org.au/fcftp.html for up to date links.

=============================
New in File Commander/2 v2.10
=============================
New Features
o Colourization of file names by boolean expression.
o Redo in editor to go with undo.
o Command line switches to override starting directory for left or right
panel.
o Directory history for changing back to recently viewed directories.
o Support for archives inside archives.
o Editing of files inside archives.
Minor Enhancements
o Shift-Alt-F9 toggles 132 column mode.
o Clipserv helper program is no longer needed.
o Automatically resize VIO window after changing number of lines /
columns.
o Date format display is now controlled by the user configurable PM
settings instead of the fixed settings associated with the system
country code.
Bug Fixes
o Certain corrupt RAR files could cause FC to get stuck in an infinite
loop.
o In viewer, search match highlight was wrong if not using 8 size tabs
and there are tabs on the line before match and the line is wrapped.
o Editor doesn't report failure to save to a write protected disk.
o Changing to a drive on which the last directory accessed no longer
exists would cause a read error, making FC unable to change to that
drive.
o If CaseFilter option is active for a drive, directories should be forced
to upper case.
o Fixed ARJ support to work with files created by ARJ v2.62.

New in File Commander/2 v2.11
=============================
Bug Fixes
o If an INI file was specified on the command line without a path,
INI files would get saved to whatever directory FC was showing.
o Editor: Undo wasn't setting the changed flag.
o Fix race condition that would sometimes cause failure to enter
archives on some drive types (esp network).
o After toggling the hidden files option with the left panel active
and both panels visible, accessing files on the left panel would
fail until TAB was used or an external command executed.
o If a file's time stamp was in the future the %age function would
treat the file as very old.
o When using the "Start minimized" option in FC/2's program object,
the icon's "window" would be stretched to the size of a full
window.
