  4. Thank you for downloading LifeCycle Fertility Predictor.  This file has 
  5. some important information on how to install LifeCycle on your computer, 
  6. how to begin using it, how to obtain technical assistance, and describes 
  7. its terms of use.

  9. The following files are included in the LCFERTPR.ZIP installation file:

  11.     - LCFP210.EXE:    This is the LifeCycle Fertility Predictor 
  12.             installation program for version 2.1

  14.     - ORDERFRM.TXT    An order form you can print out for fax or
  15.             mail orders of LifeCycle

  19. LifeCycle Fertility Predictor, as it's name implies, is a program which 
  20. predicts a woman's ovulation date and can therefore be used to assist a 
  21. couple in getting pregnant, or alternatively, as a natural form of 
  22. effective family planning.

  25. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

  27. CPU: 486 (minimum)
  28. Windows Version: 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98
  29. Memory: 8 MB or more
  30. Disk space: 4 MB to install, additional space required for data

  33. GETTING ASSISTANCE
  34. ------------------
  35. Should you require assistance with the installation of the program or its
  36. general use, please send Internet e-mail to "support@lifecyclesoft.com"

  38. LifeCycle comes with an Internet Assistance option that can be accessed by 
  39. clicking on "Help" in the menu bar and selecting the "Internet Assistance"
  40. option.  The advantage of using this method to request help is that you 
  41. can include a copy of your cycle data along with your question.

  44. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  45. -------------------------
  46. Double-click the LCFP210.EXE file to launch the installation program.  You 
  47. will be guided through the installation process and when complete, you 
  48. may optionally launch LifeCycle right away.  The installation program will 
  49. create an item called "LifeCycle Fertility Predictor" within a program 
  50. group called "LifeCycle Software".  It will also install an shortcut on your
  51. desktop for direct access to the program.

  53. Within Windows 95 or 98, LifeCycle can be launched after installation by
  54. double-clicking the LifeCycle icon on your desktop.  It can also be started 
  55. by clicking the "Start" button, selecting "Programs" and selecting the folder 
  56. "LifeCycle Software", then clicking on the "LifeCycle Fertility Predictor" 
  57. program item.

  59. Within Windows 3.1, simply open the "LifeCycle Software" program group and 
  60. double-click the "LifeCycle Fertility Predictor" program icon.

  62. On both systems, you can remove LifeCycle Fertility Predictor and its 
  63. associated files by double-clicking the "Uninstall" icon in the program 
  64. group.

  67. BEFORE USING - IMPORTANT!
  68. -------------------------
  69. Before using LifeCycle, you will need to acquire a basal thermometer.  
  70. These are highly accurate thermometers that can be purchased in most 
  71. pharmacies for less than $15.00.  LifeCycle recommends purchasing the 
  72. digital variety, as they are much more convenient than the mercury-type.  
  73. If you are trying to get pregnant and have spoken with your doctor about
  74. it, you have probably already been advised to purchase one of these 
  75. thermometers -- they are commonly used.

  77. If you cannot locate a pharmacy with a basal thermometer, the help file
  78. contains information on purchasing one from LifeCycle Software, LLC.

  81. HOW TO USE LIFECYCLE FERTILITY PREDICTOR
  82. ----------------------------------------
  83. LifeCycle permits free use during a 30-day trial period.  Actually, you
  84. can use the program for as long as you like, but it will only allow you
  85. to enter a maximum of 30 days of temperature and/or menstruation 
  86. records.

  88. To learn how to use LifeCycle, you should read the Quick Start within the 
  89. help file.  In a nutshell, it tells you how and when to take your 
  90. temperature and record your menstruation days.

  92. After your 30-entry trial period you will need to purchase LifeCycle to
  93. continue using it.  You may purchase it at any time prior to the end of 
  94. the trial period, as well.  LifeCycle can be converted from a trial copy
  95. to a full working version by purchasing it using your credit card over

  104. HOW IT WORKS
  105. ------------
  106. LifeCycle makes predictions using the scientifically-based methods of 
  107. sympto-thermal natural family planning practices.  These methods rely 
  108. on a few telltale signs in a woman's body to determine when ovulation 
  109. is approaching and when it has actually taken place.  The first two of 
  110. these signs are menstruation and cervical mucus -- they help determine 
  111. when ovulation is approaching.  The third sign is basal body temperature 
  112. -- it helps determine when ovulation has actually taken place.  Users can 
  113. also just rely on menstruation and temperature alone to make these 
  114. predictions.  If you would like more detail as to how these signs /

  119. TERMS OF USE
  120. ------------
  121. All users of LifeCycle Fertility Predictor must consent to the license 
  122. agreement included with the software, otherwise, it will not be installed. 
  123. The full text of this agreement and the limited warranty can be found in 
  124. several places: within the setup program, within the on-line registration
  125. tool, and within the help file.
  126.  
  127. Essentially, these documents state that fertility prediction is not an 
  128. exact procedure, and that LifeCycle makes no warranties, expressed or 
  129. implied, regarding it's fitness for this purpose.  LifeCycle is warranted 
  130. to accurately interpret a user's symptoms based upon the sympto-thermal 
  131. method of natural family planning (STM-NFP).  While STM-NFP has 
  132. experienced much success in this area, like all methods of family 
  133. planning, it is not 100% effective.  Use effectiveness for STM-NFP is
  134. about 90% -- meaning that 1 out of 10 women will get pregnant each year 
  135. while using this method as their primary form of birth control.  This
  136. figure takes into account both unintended pregnancies and those caused
  137. by ignoring the rules of the method.

  139. The only 100% effective method of pregnancy prevention is total 
  140. abstinence, and there is no 100% effective method of pregnancy 
  141. achievement.  The effectiveness of all methods of family planning 
  142. depend to a great degree upon the actions of the individual.
