Atoms, Symbols and Equations v 2.1 ⌐Ray Le Couteur 1996-1999
SHAREWARE
Atoms, Symbols and Equations is Shareware ('try before you buy software'). If you
wish to continue using it after a 30 day trial, you must register (pay for) it.
OVERVIEW
A unique interactive Multimedia Chemistry Tutor which tests students as they learn
(it uses the internal speaker if you don't have a soundcard). There are 8 teaching
units which gradually build up your Chemical skills from the very beginning.
Concepts are simplified in the early stages and explained in more detail later
in the program.
OPTIONS
There is an option to 'trap' the user within a unit once started (to help
teachers ensure that pupils stay on task), with a password required to exit.
The decision whether to trap users and the password can be changed by running
the program 'options.exe'(click on the 'Change Options' icon in the 'Atoms
Symbols & Equations' group or folder).
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Almost any computer running Windows 3.1/95/98 (PC 386 or above, 4mb ram,
vga/svga monitor).
INSTALLATION
Unzip, if necessary, and run 'Setup' and follow simple on-screen instructions.
In the case of the self extracting version, simply run 'chemxa20.exe' instead.
Note: the shared file, vbrun300.dll, is installed into the program folder/directory
(c:\equation by default). This avoids conflicts during uninstallation and makes
installation over a network more straightforward. If you are sure that vbrun300.dll
is already on your system, you can safely delete the copy in the program
folder/directory.
NETWORK INSTALLATION
Installation should be carried out by the network administrator and should
be very easy, as all files are installed into the single program directory.
However, security measures can prevent files being installed or the
installation of icons in the programs menu.
The uninstall icon should not be available to network users.
UNINSTALL
Simply click on the uninstall icon to remove 'Atoms, Symbols and Equations'
from your system.
RUNNING THE PROGRAM
Win 3.1
Click on the 'equations' icon in the 'Atoms Symbols & Equations' group which will
be on your desktop.
Win95/98
From the start menu, select programs and then the 'Atoms Symbols & Equations'
folder. Select the 'equations' icon to run the program.
YEAR 2000
The program has been tested for Year 2000 compliancy.
